Wed Jul 2 | 00:08 | Jacob deGrom Records Ninth Win |
Texas Rangers starter Jacob deGrom won his fifth consecutive decision on Tuesday night in his team's 10-2 victory over the Baltimore Orioles, bringing his season-long win total to nine. deGrom threw six innings and allowed two earned runs with five hits (one homer allowed), one walk, and six strikeouts. The veteran right-hander has not allowed more than two earned runs in a start since April 11 and is now sporting a 2.13 ERA and 0.89 WHIP in 101 1/3 innings pitched (17 starts). He entered the day with a 25.9% strikeout rate and 20.4% K-BB%, both below career norms but still stellar marks. He remains an elite starting pitcher option in fantasy as long as he's healthy. |

Wed Jun 25 | 21:46 | Jacob deGrom Throws Seven Scoreless Frames |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom was dominant on Wednesday to pick up his eighth win of the season, pitching seven shutout innings while striking out seven. He allowed one hit and two walks and took a no-hit bid into the eighth inning, but was pulled after Colton Cowser singled to start the frame. After a bit of a rocky start to the season, the veteran pitcher has locked in and held the opposition to two runs or less in 13 straight starts dating back to April 18. The 94 strikeouts in 95 innings are less than usual for the ace, but he is making an intentional effort this season to dial back his velocity in an attempt to stay healthy. Considering he has a 2.08 ERA and 0.91 WHIP on the year, there's no need to be throwing 102 miles per hour. He'll look to repeat this performance in his next start, which is once again set to be against the Orioles. |

Fri Jun 20 | 23:40 | Jacob deGrom Cruises to Seventh Win |
Texas Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom pitched six innings of two-run ball to lead his club to a 6-2 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday. The 37-year-old improved to 7-2 after yielding five hits and logging seven strikeouts against one walk. He has now notched four quality starts in four tries this month. Across a 25-inning span in June, deGrom has given up only five runs on 16 hits and posted 25 strikeouts against four walks. In all, deGrom has offered elite-level production with a 2.24 ERA, 87:18 K:BB, and a 0.92 WHIP through 88 1/3 innings. Neither the Rangers nor fantasy managers could have expected more from deGrom after he missed almost all of the previous two seasons because of Tommy John surgery. The two-time Cy Young winner will try to keep rolling Wednesday against the Baltimore Orioles. |

Sat Jun 7 | 21:59 | Jacob deGrom Tosses Seven Scoreless Innings |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom was tough to hit during Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals. The 36-year-old posted his best outing of the season with seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits and striking out eight batters in the win. Another nice performance by deGrom who is looking more like himself as time goes on. He'll take a 2.12 ERA, 0.92 WHIP, and 74/17 K/BB ratio into his next start against the Minnesota Twins. There is always the concern of injury, but when he's healthy, deGrom is one of the best pitchers in all of baseball. |

Sun Jun 1 | 12:07 | Jacob deGrom Cleared to Start Against Cardinals |
Texas Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom (finger) is starting in Sunday's series finale against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals at Globe Life Field. deGrom was bothered by a finger issue in his latest outing on Monday against the Toronto Blue Jays, when he allowed two earned runs on five hits (one homer) while walking two and striking out none in his second loss of the year in 5 1/3 innings. It was the 36-year-old's shortest outing since he went five innings on May 10 against the Detroit Tigers. Although deGrom threw only 81 pitches on Monday, he shouldn't have any workload restrictions on Sunday unless his finger issue crops up again. Overall in 2025, the two-time Cy Young winner has bounced back nicely from injuries, going 4-2 with a 2.42 ERA and 0.96 WHIP with 62 strikeouts in 63 1/3 innings over 11 starts. The Cardinals have the 10th-best OPS (.728), but deGrom is a must-start in fantasy. |

Mon May 26 | 21:13 | Jacob deGrom Doesn't Record a Strikeout |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom did something for the first time in his career on Monday. The right-hander failed to record a strikeout during his outing for the first time in 229 career starts. He threw 5 1/3 innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits and walked two batters. He somehow went the whole game without striking out a single one of the Toronto Blue Jays hitters. This wasn't a good outing for fantasy managers, but deGrom has allowed two earned runs or less in eight straight starts. He'll look to rack up some strikeouts against the St. Louis Cardinals in his next start. |

Wed May 21 | 23:24 | Jacob deGrom Turns in Terrific Start Against Yankees |
Texas Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom delivered an excellent performance in a no-decision in Wednesday's 4-3 loss against the New York Yankees. The two-time Cy Young winner fired seven innings of three-hit, two-run ball with nine strikeouts against one walk. Although deGrom pitched well enough to earn the victory, the Rangers' bullpen surrendered a pair of runs in a 4-3 defeat. The 36-year-old has now allowed two or fewer earned runs and totaled at least five innings in seven consecutive starts. DeGrom owns a sterling 2.33 ERA with 62:12 K:BB through 58 innings, making him a must-start each time he takes the ball. He's scheduled to face the Toronto Blue Jays on Monday. |

Fri May 16 | 00:54 | Jacob deGrom Quiets Astros In Masterful Start |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom tossed a gem on Thursday, shutting out the Houston Astros for eight innings and picking up his fourth win of the season in a 1-0 victory. The righty was dominant in this one, allowing just five hits and a walk while punching out seven. He threw a season-high 96 pitches, and the velocity on his fastball and slider were both up, two signs that he is beginning to feel like his old self. Even with deGrom returning from Tommy John surgery, he has been one of the best pitchers in the majors this year. He has a 4-1 record to go with a 2.29 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, and 53 strikeouts in 51 IP. The 36-year-old might not be the most dominant pitcher in the league like he once was, but he is still one of the best when he takes the mound. His next start should come Wednesday in New York in a tough matchup against the Yankees. |

Sat May 10 | 21:54 | Jacob deGrom Records 10 Strikeouts |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom had his swing-and-miss stuff going for him during Saturday's start against the Detroit Tigers. The right-hander gave up a solo home run to Kerry Carpenter in the first inning, but settled down after that. He was taken deep once again in the fourth inning by Riley Greene, but deGrom was able to limit the damage. He went five innings, allowing two earned runs on five hits while striking out 10 batters in the win. Over the last five starts, deGrom has allowed two earned runs or less in every outing. He'll take a 2.72 ERA into his next start against the Houston Astros. |

Sun May 4 | 22:02 | Jacob deGrom Becomes Fastest Pitcher To Reach 1,700 Strikeouts |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom recorded his 1,700th strikeout in his 225th career game, making him the quickest ever to accomplish the feat. It came as part of an 8-1 win over the Mariners on Sunday, where deGrom allowed one run on three hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings. The fact that he is the fastest ever to 1,700 strikeouts makes the imagination wonder where deGrom would stand in the history books if he hadn't missed significant time with injuries in the past four straight seasons, but the good news is that he is finally healthy again now. He hasn't looked quite as dominant as we're used to seeing, striking out just 36 batters in 38 innings so far this year, but he still holds an excellent 2.61 ERA and should be considered a must-start fantasy hurler. |

Wed Apr 30 | 00:34 | Jacob deGrom Earns First Win Of Season Tuesday |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom picked up his first win of the season in Tuesday's 15-2 drubbing of the Athletics. deGrom pitched six scoreless innings, allowing four hits and no walks with seven strikeouts. The 36-year-old has pitched well overall so far this season, going 1-1 with a 2.73 ERA, a 1.00 WHIP, and a 9.00 K/9 rate. While his peripherals have been excellent overall, they have not been quite as outstanding when compared to his career standards. However, deGrom has stayed healthy to this point, which is the biggest fantasy concern. He will look to keep things going in his next matchup, which will be a tougher one against a hot Mariners lineup. |

Sun Mar 30 | 18:39 | Jacob deGrom Throws Five Scoreless Innings |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom made his season debut against the Boston Red Sox on Sunday. Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said ahead of time that deGrom would be limited to around 75 pitches in this game. Despite that, deGrom gave fantasy managers a strong outing on Sunday. He tossed five scoreless innings, allowing two hits, and striking out six batters in the win over Boston. This was a great start to the season for deGrom, but the key is keeping him healthy. That being said, fantasy managers shouldn't be shocked if the team continues to ease deGrom into things early in the season. |

Sun Mar 30 | 13:07 | Jacob deGrom Expected To Throw 75 Pitches On Sunday |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom will likely only throw 75 pitches in his first start on Sunday afternoon against the Boston Red Sox. deGrom missed the majority of the 2024 campaign due to Tommy John surgery. He returned at the end of the campaign and logged just 10 2/3 innings of work. In spring training, deGrom was able to make three starts and logged 10 innings to the tune of a 4.50 ERA. Fantasy managers should monitor his status on Sunday, but it appears the Rangers will continue to slowly increase his workload as the 36-year-old has only pitched more than 90 innings in a single season once since 2020. Over the past three campaigns, deGrom has logged just 105 1/3 total innings to the tune of a stellar 2.82 ERA and a 0.79 WHIP. Even though he may be limited in this start, he should still be viewed as a high-end SP2 in all formats. |

Fri Mar 14 | 18:13 | Jacob deGrom Throws In Minor-League Game On Friday |
Texas Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom (illness) tossed three innings in a minor-league game on Friday after he was scratched from his scheduled Cactus League start on Thursday due to a stomach bug that is going around the clubhouse. deGrom should be able to make another spring outing soon and he will be ready for the start of the 2025 regular season, although the Rangers plan to ease him in at the back end of their starting rotation. The 36-year-old two-time Cy Young winner and four-time All-Star made only three starts in 2024 while coming back from Tommy John surgery. When considering the fact that he only made six stars for Texas in 2023, it makes complete sense for the Rangers to slow-play deGrom so that he can make it through the year healthy. deGrom is an extreme risk/reward in fantasy, but if he can stay healthy, he has league-winning ace upside. |

Thu Mar 13 | 12:34 | Jacob deGrom Scratched Due To Stomach Virus |
Texas Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom (illness) has been scratched from his scheduled Cactus League start on Thursday against the San Francisco Giants due to a stomach virus, according to manager Bruce Bochy. Hopefully, the 36-year-old veteran will be able to get back on the mound in a few days for what will only be his second spring training game after he threw 31 pitches in his debut last weekend. The two-time Cy Young winner still has the stuff to be a fantasy ace if he's healthy, but the caveat is that he's started only nine games in the last two seasons due to arm injuries and will be eased in early in 2025 to preserve his health throughout the season. Additionally, deGrom plans to back off a bit on his velocity in order to try and preserve his health. deGrom hasn't gone over 100 innings pitched in a season since 2019 with the New York Mets. |

Wed Mar 12 | 15:02 | Rangers To Slow-Play Jacob deGrom's Workload |
Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said on Foul Territory on Wednesday that the team will slow-play right-hander Jacob deGrom's workload this year in order to get the most starts out of him at the end of the season. "If we have to skip a start or put him on the IL to keep him fresh, we'll do that," Bochy said. In addition to his workload being managed, the 36-year-old veteran also plans to dial back his velocity in an effort to stay healthy for the long run. For what it's worth, he was sitting at 97 mph in his first Cactus League outing. deGrom returned from Tommy John surgery late last year to make three starts and allowed just two earned runs in 10 2/3 innings while striking out 14 and walking one. He averaged just over 97 mph in those three outings as well. deGrom was an elite fantasy starter before his second Tommy John surgery. There's risk and a lowered fantasy ceiling because of workload restrictions, but when he's on, he still has the upside of a No. 1 starter. |

Sun Mar 9 | 11:47 | Jacob deGrom Not Looking To Maximize Velocity |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom is not looking to maximize his velocity during the upcoming season. deGrom spent the majority of the 2024 campaign sidelined after undergoing his second Tommy John surgery in 2023. However, the two-time Cy Young winner is looking to slightly decrease his velocity to ensure he remains healthy during the entire 2025 campaign. When he returned to the majors at the end of the 2024 season, he is fastball averaged just over 97 mph. However, during the prime of his career, deGrom's fastball typically sat around 99 mph. He recently made his spring training debut and tossed two shutout frames. When on the mound, deGrom has been one of the most effective pitchers in the sport. As a result, fantasy managers should view deGrom as a high-end SP2 heading into 2025 given the elite upside he carries despite the injury risk. If he can continue to lower his velocity and remain dominant, he could put himself at a much lower injury risk while providing elite fantasy production. |

Mon Mar 3 | 17:18 | Jacob deGrom To Start In Back End Of The Rotation |
The Texas Rangers plan to use right-hander Jacob deGrom at "the back end" of their starting rotation when the 2025 regular season begins later this month, according to manager Bruce Bochy. It means that deGrom, who made only three starts in 2024 after Tommy John surgery, might not pitch in the opening series against the Boston Red Sox at Globe Life Field. The Rangers want to give the oft-injured two-time Cy Young winner plenty of time to rest early in the year. It's possible the 36-year-old veteran doesn't make his season debut until March 30 against the Cincinnati Reds. It shouldn't come as a huge surprise, as deGrom has yet to make his Cactus League debut (it will come on Friday) after throwing his first bullpen session of the spring on Saturday. deGrom has proven to be one of the best pitchers in baseball, but he's made only nine starts for Texas since signing a five-year, $185 million deal before the 2023 season. |

Sat Mar 1 | 14:22 | Jacob deGrom Set To Make Spring Debut On Friday |
Texas Rangers right-hander Jacob deGrom (elbow) will throw his first live bullpen session on Saturday and is slated to make his spring training debut on Friday. deGrom has thrown several bullpen sessions throughout the early part of camp but will now face live hitters for the first time on Saturday. If this session goes well, the 36-year-old will then look to make his Cactus League debut on Friday. Given his slower ramp-up, fantasy managers should continue to monitor his workload, as the right-hander may be given an innings limit during the first few weeks of the campaign. Last season, deGrom only logged 10 2/3 innings (three starts) after recovering from Tommy John surgery. During his brief stint, he posted a strong 1.69 ERA with a 1.13 WHIP. He tallied 14 punchouts with an elite 2.3 percent walk rate. Even though he carries high injury risk, he carries high-end SP2 upside given his elite ratios and strikeout upside. |

Fri Feb 28 | 14:50 | Jacob deGrom Could Make Spring Debut In Second Week Of March |
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Jacob deGrom (elbow) is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session over the weekend. The expectation is that deGrom will throw a few live BP sessions against hitters before making his spring debut. The right-hander is still ramping up after returning late last season following Tommy John surgery. When healthy, deGrom is one of the best starting pitchers in the league. Sadly, it has been a challenge keeping deGrom on the mound. The expectation is that deGrom will be ready for Opening Day, but he's an extreme risk/reward fantasy selection. |
