Tue Jul 100:10Shelby Miller Earns Four-Out Save Monday
Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Shelby Miller picked up his 10th save of the season in Monday's 4-2 win over the Giants. Miller came in to pitch the top of the eighth inning up by one with two outs and the bases empty. He struck out Heliot Ramos to end the inning and stayed on to pitch the ninth, turning in a 1-2-3 inning with another strikeout. The 34-year-old veteran has had some ups and downs but has settled in as the team's primary choice for save opportunities with both Justin Martinez (elbow) and A.J. Puk (elbow) on the injured list with elbow injuries. He has now converted 10 of 15 save opportunities with a 2.10 ERA, a 0.99 WHIP, and a 10.22 K/9 rate in 34 1/3 innings of work.

Sat Jun 2821:04Shelby Miller Suffers Blown Save on Saturday
Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Shelby Miller was called upon with a one-run lead in the ninth inning of Saturday's game against the Miami Marlins. Miller gave up a hit to Dane Myers who would eventually come around to score on a sacrifice fly to tie the game. The veteran right-hander was able to get out of the inning with only one earned run and struck out two batters. Despite the blown save, Miller has only been scored on twice this month. The D-Backs have a banged up bullpen, so Miller remains the favorite for saves going forward.

Sun Jun 2208:54Shelby Miller Records Eighth Save
Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Shelby Miller was handed the ball with a two-run lead versus the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. Miller did allow a hit, but he struck out three batters and earned his eighth save of the season. This is now back-to-back scoreless outings from Miller after he struggled earlier in the week. He appears to be the last reliever standing with Justin Martinez (elbow) and A.J. Puk (elbow) both sidelined. Miller has done a nice job with a 2.03 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 35/11 K/BB ratio across 31 innings of work. He's not an elite option, but Miller figures to be a decent source for saves in fantasy formats.

Thu Jun 1207:26Shelby Miller Earns Save on Wednesday
Arizona Diamondbacks right-hander Shelby Miller fired a scoreless ninth inning to preserve a 5-2 win over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. Miller allowed one hit while striking out two to earn the save, his seventh of the season. The veteran hurler appears to have taken over as the team's closer following Justin Martinez landing on the injured list with an elbow injury earlier in the week, making him a priority waiver add for any fantasy managers in need of saves. Miller now has a 3-1 record, 1.63 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and 29 strikeouts over 27 2/3 innings of work this season, while working on a seven-game scoreless streak.

Mon May 1901:05Shelby Miller Picks Up Save on Sunday
Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Shelby Miller worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the ninth to finish off the Colorado Rockies and earn his fourth save in a 1-0 win. Miller allowed two hits and intentionally walked a batter, but was able to get out of it. With the D-backs' bullpen riddled with injuries, Miller has stepped up when called upon and been solid as the fill-in closer. He is now 4-for-6 in save opportunities with a 1.37 ERA, 1.12 WHIP, and 22 strikeouts in 19 IP. Unfortunately for Miller and his fantasy owners, Justin Martinez is currently rehabbing in Triple-A and will likely take back the closer's role when he returns. It makes sense to hold onto Miller just to see what his usage is when Martinez comes back, but if there are other save options available it is certainly worth a look.

Thu May 121:23Shelby Miller Earns First Save
Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Shelby Miller was tasked with closing down the game in the ninth inning against the New York Mets on Thursday. Miller didn't have any issues as he threw a scoreless inning to hold a two-run lead in the ninth and earn his first save of the season. He only needed eight pitches in this one, but he also faced the bottom of the batting order. Miller hasn't allowed a run this season and has struck out 15 batters across 13.2 scoreless frames this season. The expectation is that he'll be in mix for saves alongside Kevin Ginkel and Ryan Thompson. The D-Backs are without Justin Martinez (shoulder) and A.J. Puk (elbow), so Miller could be worth a look as a possible source for saves.

Wed Mar 2619:56Shelby Miller Makes Opening Day Roster
Arizona Diamondbacks relief pitcher Shelby Miller has earned a spot on the Opening Day roster. This is a nice feel-good story as the veteran right-hander was brought in as a non-roster invitee. Miller looked impressive during spring training and has earned himself a spot on the 26-man roster. Miller posted an average season with the Detroit Tigers last season, but was an elite option for the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2023. Miller didn't post good numbers during his first stint with the organization earlier in his career. He figures to pitch in middle relief, so regardless he probably won't offer much fantasy value.

Sun Feb 1619:50Shelby Miller Signs Minor-League Deal With Arizona
According to Robert Murray of FanSided.com, right-handed pitcher Shelby Miller signed a minor-league contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks. This contract includes an invitation to spring training. The 34-year-old logged 55 2/3 innings with the Detroit Tigers last summer before being released. During his stint in Detroit, Miller held a 4.53 ERA with a 0.97 WHIP. He showed strong command with a 5.8 percent walk rate but generated strikeouts at a low 21.8 percent rate. However, he did generate a 3.75 xERA, which suggests he may face some minor regression when he returns to the mound. During the 2023 season, Miller posted a strong 1.71 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP across 42 innings. If Miller can perform well in spring training, he should have a good chance to earn a role in the Arizona bullpen.

Fri Jul 26 202409:00Shelby Miller Picks Up Second Save
With closer Jason Foley being used earlier in the game, the Detroit Tigers turned to relief pitcher Shelby Miller to pick up his second save of the season against the Cleveland Guardians on Thursday. Miller allowed a walk but also recorded a strikeout to earn his second save of the season. Foley is still the closer in Detroit, but Miller is likely his insurance should anything happen. On the season, Miller owns a 4.66 ERA with four holds in 36 2/3 innings. Other than the occasional hold or save, Miller doesn't offer much to fantasy managers and can remain on the waiver wire.

Tue Jul 9 202401:00Shelby Miller Earns First Save Of Season Monday
Detroit Tigers relief pitcher Shelby Miller picked up his first save of the season in Monday's 1-0 win over the Guardians. Miller came in to pitch the top of the ninth inning and delivered a 1-2-3 outing with a strikeout. The Tigers' bullpen has been a mess lately, with three different relievers seeing a save opportunity in the last seven days. Jason Foley has seen the most this season but has struggled lately. The veteran Miller has struggled this season with a 5.76 ERA in 29 2/3 innings of work. Andrew Chafin has been the most effective arm out of the bullpen recently, so while fantasy managers may want to avoid the Tigers' bullpen, Chafin may be the most interesting for now.

Wed May 22 202414:10Shelby Miller Throws Bullpen Tuesday
Detroit Tigers right-hander Shelby Miller (elbow) completed a successful bullpen session on Tuesday. It was the first time that he had thrown off a mound since going on the injured list on May 13 with right ulnar nerve inflammation. The 33-year-old veteran will need to slowly build his arm back up with several more bullpen sessions before he's cleared to face live hitters in batting practice sessions or on a minor-league rehab assignment. Given the fact that Miller is now in a relief role, it shouldn't take him as long to return, which means he has a shot to come off the injured list before June. Miller isn't really on the fantasy radar at all and is currently 3-4 in 2024 with a 4.41 ERA (4.37 FIP) and 1.04 WHIP with six walks and 15 strikeouts in 16 1/3 innings pitched in 15 appearances out of Detroit's bullpen.

Fri Dec 22 202314:21Shelby Miller Inks One-Year Deal With Tigers
Free agent pitcher Shelby Miller has agreed to a one-year contract with the Detroit Tigers pending a physical. After working to a tidy 3.02 ERA across 33 starts in 2015 as a member of the D-backs, Miller has endured a wealth of injuries combined with severe underperformance when healthy. However, the 33-year-old bounced back in a big way with the Dodgers in 2023, tossing a dynamite 1.71 ERA across 36 outings and 42 innings of work. Some form of regression is likely considering hitters hit just .165 on balls in play against him while he also posted a 4.14 SIERA that was well above his surface ERA figure. Nonetheless, the Tigers are looking for Miller to contribute to their bullpen after a big bounce-back season in 2023.

Sun Sep 17 202313:45Shelby Miller Starting On Sunday For The Dodgers
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Shelby Miller will start on Sunday against the Seattle Mariners. Miller will likely work as the opener for the Dodgers before Gavin Stone takes over as the bulk reliever. This will be a bullpen game for Los Angeles after they clinched the NL West crown on Saturday. Across 36 innings this season, Miller owns a 2.00 ERA, 0.89 WHIP, and 36:18 K/BB ratio. This is his first "start" of the season but he shouldn't work more than two innings.

Thu Jun 22 202309:54Shelby Miller To Miss Three To Four Weeks
Los Angeles Dodgers right-handed hurler Shelby Miller (neck) was placed on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday with neck pain, and according to manager Dave Roberts, he'll miss three to four weeks. The 32-year-old has thrived this year in a bullpen role, producing his best numbers since 2015 with a 2.40 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 25.8% strikeout rate across 30 innings of work. Miller doesn't have much relevance in fantasy, even before the injury, as he has just two holds and no saves to his name. Fantasy managers can ignore his status for the most part.

Wed Apr 26 202300:27Shelby Miller Earns Save For Dodgers Tuesday
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Shelby Miller picked up a surprising first save of the season in Tuesday's 8-7 win over the Pirates. The 32-year-old veteran successfully protected a one-run lead with a 1-2-3 ninth inning and a strikeout. Evan Phillips had just returned from the paternity list, but he pitched the sixth inning. Six different relievers have now seen save opportunities for the Dodgers in 24 games, with Miller being the newest. It has been quite some time since he has been both healthy and fantasy relevant, so fantasy managers shouldn't necessarily read too much into this. Unfortunately, it appears that it may be difficult to pick a go-to Dodgers reliever for fantasy purposes.

Wed Mar 29 202322:51Shelby Miller Makes Opening Day Roster
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Shelby Miller has made the opening day roster, according to skipper Dave Roberts. The 32-year-old has had some productive outings throughout his career. However, he's coming off a miserable 2022 campaign, where he posted a hideous 6.43 ERA in four big league appearances. That said, he did enough this Spring to land a spot in the pen, although he's far from an attractive fantasy option at this point.

Wed Nov 30 202200:19Dodgers Agree To MLB Deal With Shelby Miller
MLB Network's Jon Heyman reported Tuesday that the Los Angeles Dodgers have reached an agreement for a big-league deal with pitcher Shelby Miller. Details of the deal were not disclosed. The 32-year-old righty had a solid few seasons at the beginning of his career as a starter, but he has failed to post an ERA below 4.00 since 2015. He pitched just seven innings in 2022 out of the bullpen with the Giants with a poor 6.43 ERA. It remains to be seen what role he may play with the Dodgers, but Miller still holds almost no fantasy value at this time, despite his landing spot.

Sun Mar 27 202214:43Yankees Sign Shelby Miller To Minors Deal
The New York Yankees signed free-agent starting pitcher Shelby Miller to a minor league deal with an invite to spring training on Sunday. The 31-year-old right-hander spent last year with the Pittsburgh Pirates and Chicago Cubs, allowing 13 earned runs in just 12 2/3 innings pitched (9.24 ERA) while striking out eight and walking 11. It wasn't pretty, to say the least. Miller hasn't started in the big leagues since he made eight starts for the Texas Rangers back in 2019, and it's probably a long shot that he makes the Yankees Opening Day roster or has a significant role for New York this year. Miller remains well off the fantasy radar.

Sun Mar 28 202101:15Bruce, Sandoval on big league rosters, Maybin, Frazier cut
Jay Bruce returned to the major leagues Saturday, making the New York Yankees' roster at the deadline for decisions on free agents who had gone to spring training with minor league contracts. Atlanta added third baseman Pablo Sandoval, infielder Ehire Adrianza and reliever Nate Jones to its major league roster. The Chicago Cubs told infielder Eric Sogard he will be added. Detroit, having already told pitcher Julio Teheran he will be on the roster, informed pitcher Derek Holland he will be added and decided to pay a $100,000 retention bonus to keep pitcher Erasmo Ramirez.
