Wed Aug 1312:08Troy Melton Starting on Wednesday
Detroit Tigers right-hander Troy Melton will start the team's game against the Chicago White Sox on Wednesday. It'll be the third start for the 23-year-old rookie, who has divided his time between the rotation and bullpen since the Tigers promoted him on July 23. Melton has made four appearances and recorded a 3.63 ERA with a 1.04 WHIP, 15 strikeouts, and four walks in 17 1/3 innings. On paper, he'll get a favorable draw against a Chicago team that ranks 27th in the majors in runs. However, after Melton combined for just 83 pitches in his two most recent appearances, he might not stay in for that long on Wednesday.

Thu Jul 3123:16Troy Melton Headed to the Bullpen
Detroit Tigers pitcher Troy Melton will be shifting from the rotation to the bullpen, reports Chris McCosky of The Detroit News. The rookie was lit up in his first start on July 23 to the tune of six runs in five innings, but bounced back with seven shutout innings against the Diamondbacks on July 28. Unfortunately, that wasn't enough to earn another turn in the rotation with the Tigers acquiring both Chris Paddack and Charlie Morton at the trade deadline. The 24-year-old can be safely disregarded for fantasy purposes, although Detroit will be hoping for some meaningful relief innings from him as they prep for a probable playoff run.

Sun Jul 2723:31Troy Melton to Start Monday
Detroit Tigers right-hander Troy Melton will start at home against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Monday. The 24-year-old had been scheduled to take the ball Tuesday, but his turn is moving up with Casey Mize (knee) dealing with minor knee tightness. Melton struggled in his major league debut on July 23, as he allowed six earned runs on seven hits (two homers) and two walks over five innings in a 6-1 loss to the Pittsburgh Pirates. On the positive side, Melton fanned seven - including five in his final two innings - while averaging 97 mph on his fastball and generating 14 whiffs. For now, he's taking over for righty Keider Montero in Detroit's rotation. The club optioned Montero to Triple-A Toledo on Saturday after he went 4-3 with a 4.66 ERA, a 1.43 WHIP, and 53:25 over 73 1/3 frames (15 appearances, nine starts).
