Thu Jun 1915:51Red Sox Sending Kristian Campbell to Triple-A
ESPN's Jeff Passan reports that the Boston Red Sox are sending rookie infielder Kristian Campbell to Triple-A Worcester, according to sources. Campbell signed an eight-year, $60 million deal with Boston this spring and was hitting a strong .301/.407/.495 by the end of April. However, he's slashing .159/.243/.222 since then and will get a chance to reset himself at Worcester to close out the first half of the 2025 season. In addition to falling off at the plate since his strong start, the 22-year-old has struggled defensively at second base in Boston. At least until Alex Bregman (quadriceps) returns from the 10-day injured list, David Hamilton should continue to start at the keystone for the BoSox. Campbell is currently hitting .223 (51-for-229) at the big-league level with six homers, 21 RBI, 24 runs scored and two stolen bases. He'll almost certainly be back in Beantown at some point in the second half.

Mon Jun 912:13Kristian Campbell Blasts Sixth Home Run
Boston Red Sox second baseman Kristian Campbell went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run in Sunday's 11-7 win over the New York Yankees. He also singled and drew a walk. The rookie bashed his sixth homer of the season in the top of the fifth inning off Yankees' starter Carlos Rodon, scoring teammate Ceddanne Rafaela to tie the game at two runs apiece. Campbell had an abysmal May in which he hit .134 (11-for-82), but he's already up to six hits in June and has tied his long ball and RBI total of last month in only seven games. It's the first time he's picked up multiple hits in back-to-back outings since the end of April. He's up to a .233/.323/.364 triple slash with nine doubles, 20 RBI, and 23 runs scored in his inaugural big-league season (58 games).

Sun Jun 112:14Kristian Campbell Sticks at Second Base on Sunday
Boston Red Sox rookie infielder Kristian Campbell is starting at second base and batting seventh for Sunday's series finale against the Atlanta Braves and right-hander Bryce Elder at Truist Park. Manager Alex Cora said earlier this week that Campbell was expected to make a start at first base in the weekend series against the Braves, but it's not going to happen. Abraham Toro will start at first on Sunday and is hitting cleanup for the BoSox. Campbell has been working out at first base as the club continues to look for other options at the position in the wake of Triston Casas' (knee) season-ending injury. Eventually, the 22-year-old should see some action at the cold corner, but it probably won't be enough for him to gain eligibility there in fantasy. Campbell got off to a nice start in his rookie campaign but has struggled since and is currently hitting .227/.314/.351 with five homers, 16 RBI, 22 runs and two stolen bases.

Wed May 2812:26Kristian Campbell to Play First Base This Weekend
Boston Red Sox manager Alex Cora said that rookie infielder Kristian Campbell will play one game at first base during this weekend's series in Atlanta against the Braves. Triston Casas (knee) is out for the season, and Romy Gonzalez (quadriceps) is still on the injured list, so the Red Sox have been mixing and matching at first base recently with Abraham Toro and Nick Sogard. Campbell will get his first test at the cold corner this weekend, but there's no guarantee the 22-year-old youngster will see enough playing time there the rest of the season to gain eligibility in fantasy leagues. After a strong start to his first season in the big leagues this year, Campbell, a former fourth-rounder in 2023 out of Georgia Institute of Technology, has struggled and is currently hitting .225/.312/.354 in 178 at-bats. He's batting .120 (9-for-75) with a homer, four RBI and 23 strikeouts in 19 games in May.

Tue May 2018:22Kristian Campbell Back in Lineup, Starting in Center Field
Boston Red Sox rookie second baseman Kristian Campbell is back in the starting lineup for Tuesday's meeting with the visiting New York Mets at Fenway Park and will start in center field and bat fifth against Mets right-hander Clay Holmes. Campbell has been working out at first base recently in the wake of Triston Casas' season-ending knee injury, but manager Alex Cora said that the team is far away from using the 22-year-old at first in a game. It will not happen on the team's current homestand, and Cora said on a scale from zero to 10, there's around a "2.5" or "3" that Campbell is on his way to appearing at first base. The bigger issue for Campbell's fantasy managers is that he's gone just 4-for-47 (.085) with a homer, three RBI and 15 strikeouts in 11 games so far in May at the plate. He got the last two days off to clear his head, so hopefully Campbell can start putting up better at-bats and get out of his funk.

Mon May 1915:31Kristian Campbell on the Bench Again on Monday
Boston Red Sox rookie second baseman Kristian Campbell is out of the starting lineup for the second straight game for Monday's series opener against the visiting New York Mets at Fenway Park. David Hamilton is starting at second and will hit seventh against Mets right-hander Kodai Senga. Campbell got off to a good start in his first year in the big leagues in April, but it's been a struggle for the 22-year-old at the plate so far in the month of May. He's gone just 4-for-47 (.085) with a homer, three RBI, one run scored, one walk and 15 strikeouts in 11 games since May 4 to drop his season line down to .233/.322/.387 in 171 plate appearances. Given his struggles at the plate recently, it seems unlikely that the Red Sox would ask him to move to first base after the season-ending injury to Triston Casas (knee). Hamilton has never faced Senga in his career.UPDATE: Nothing is physically wrong with Campbell, and he's expected to be back in the lineup on Tuesday.

Fri May 1615:48Kristian Campbell Seen Doing First Base Work
Boston Red Sox infield prospect Kristian Campbell was seen doing some first base drill work at Fenway Park before Friday's series opener against the visiting Atlanta Braves, according to MLB.com's Ian Browne. The Red Sox asked Rafael Devers to consider moving to first base after Triston Casas' (knee) season-ending injury, but he refused, so the club is still searching for answers while mixing in Abraham Toro and Nick Sogard in at the cold corner with Romy Gonzalez (back) on the injured list. The 22-year-old Campbell has been fine offensively as a lineup regular in his first MLB season, but his defensive metrics at second have been lacking. Nothing is official, but if Campbell were to move to first base regularly, it would open up playing time at the keystone in Beantown for David Hamilton and Sogard. Sogard is starting at first in Friday's series opener against the Braves and left-hander ... [More]

Wed May 1407:18Kristian Campbell Snaps Skid With Two-Run Shot
Boston Red Sox second base/outfield prospect Kristian Campbell went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run during their loss to the Detroit Tigers on Tuesday evening. Campbell would go deep in the 11th inning. This was his fifth home run of his rookie season. However, entering this contest, the Georgia Tech product was riding an extended slump. Over his previous nine contests, Campbell went 3-for-34 at the plate with one RBI, 11 strikeouts, and no walks. However, prior to this skid, Campbell held an impressive .313/.420/.515 slash line with eight doubles, four home runs, two stolen bases, and a 30:19 K:BB. Fantasy managers should continue to view Campbell as a solid second baseman or outfielder in all formats. He will look to remain productive on Wednesday, facing Detroit ace Tarik Skubal.

Sun May 410:46Kristian Campbell Returning On Sunday
Boston Red Sox second base prospect Kristian Campbell (ribs) is returning to the starting nine on Sunday afternoon when the Red Sox face the Minnesota Twins. Campbell has been held out of action for the last three games due to this minor injury. However, the infielder has progressed well and will not face an extended absence. The top prospect will cover the keystone and bat cleanup. Over his last nine contests before his injury, the Georgia Tech product has posted a .324/.425/.529 slash line with four doubles and one home run. Through his 29 games in the major leagues, Campbell has performed quite well, holding a .301/.407/.495 slash line with four home runs and two stolen bases. Fantasy managers should view Campbell as a strong option this afternoon, and he is worth a look in DFS facing Minnesota right-hander Chris Paddack.

Sat May 313:20Kristian Campbell Remains Out On Saturday
Boston Red Sox infielder/outfielder Kristian Campbell (ribs) remains out of the starting lineup on Saturday when they continue a series against the Minnesota Twins. The top prospect has been day-to-day with rib discomfort over his previous three contests. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to Sunday's contest. If he is unable to make progress, the Red Sox could eventually shift him to the injured list. Through his first 29 games at the MLB level, the Georgia Tech product has been very productive, posting a .301/.407/.495 slash line with four home runs and two stolen bases. This afternoon, David Hamilton will get another start at the keystone. Hamilton is best to fade in DFS this afternoon, facing Minnesota right-hander Bailey Ober.

Fri May 216:05Kristian Campbell Still Out On Friday
Boston Red Sox rookie second baseman Kristian Campbell (ribs) remains out of the starting lineup for Friday's series opener against the visiting Minnesota Twins at Fenway Park. Campbell was scratched from Thursday's series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays as a precaution with sore ribs, and now he'll miss his second straight game. The good news is that the 22-year-old infielder's injury isn't considered serious, and he's being deemed day-to-day heading into the weekend. The former fourth-rounder in 2023 out of the Georgia Institute of Technology has settled in nicely as the team's starting second baseman in his first 103 big-league at-bats, batting .301 with four homers, 12 RBI, 18 runs and two stolen bases. David Hamilton will once again start at second and bat eighth on Friday against Twins right-hander Joe Ryan. He represents a low-upside DFS sleeper at the bottom of the lineup.

Fri May 211:55Kristian Campbell Viewed As Day-To-Day
Boston Red Sox second base/outfield prospect Kristian Campbell (ribs) is viewed as day-to-day heading into their weekend series against the Minnesota Twins. The budding star was stretched from Thursday's lineup due to rib soreness. However, this injury does not appear serious, and the Georgia Tech product could return to the starting nine as early as Friday evening. Campbell was able to break camp with the MLB roster and has enjoyed an impressive start to his MLB career, holding a .301/.407/.495 slash line with four long balls and two stolen bases. Under the hood, Campbell has generated a strong .364 xwOBA while drawing walks at an elite 15.4 percent rate. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to Friday's game. If he were to sit out, David Hamilton should see opportunities at the keystone.

Thu May 118:20Kristian Campbell Scratched With Rib Discomfort
Boston Red Sox rookie second baseman Kristian Campbell (rib) has been scratched from Thursday's starting lineup against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays with right-rib discomfort, according to MassLive's Christopher Smith. David Hamilton will take over at the keystone and will hit eighth against Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios. For now, fantasy managers should consider Campbell day-to-day and check back to see if he's available to play in Friday's series opener against the Minnesota Twins at Fenway Park. The 22-year-old former fourth-rounder has held his own in his first MLB season to this point, hitting .301 (31-for-103) with four home runs, 12 RBI, 18 runs and two stolen bases. Hamilton offers limited DFS upside and has gone just 2-for-30 this year with a homer, two RBI and two steals. He has hit .143 in just seven career at-bats against Berrios.

Mon Apr 2812:52Kristian Campbell Stuffs Stat Sheet In Win
Boston Red Sox second baseman Kristian Campbell went 2-for-2 with a double in Sunday's 13-3 victory over the Cleveland Guardians. The rookie was electric in the drubbing of the Guardians, adding a single, two RBI, four runs scored, and a steal. He's up to a .305 average now, with a .412 OBP and an .886 OPS through his first 27 major-league games. It's an excellent start to his career, as the 22-year-old's advanced eye at the plate has carried over into his first stint in the bigs. Campbell has reached base in eight of his past ten appearances, collecting four multi-hit performances over that span. Additionally, he's been impacting the ball better recently, notching three hard-hit balls over the weekend.

Wed Apr 2315:21Kristian Campbell Sitting Against Mariners
Boston Red Sox rookie second baseman Kristian Campbell is getting a breather on Wednesday against the visiting Seattle Mariners at Fenway Park. Romy Gonzalez will draw the start at the keystone and will hit seventh against Mariners right-hander Emerson Hancock. It's a routine day of rest for Campbell, who has looked like a seasoned veteran as Boston's starting second baseman in his first 23 games, as he's gone 24-for-80 (.300) with three home runs, five doubles, eight RBI, one stolen base, 12 runs scored, 15 walks and 23 strikeouts in 96 plate appearances. The 22-year-old should be back in action for Thursday's series finale against Seattle. Gonzalez has only played in eight games so far in 2025 and is still looking for his first home run, but he's currently hitting .346 (9-for-26) with four doubles, three RBI and six runs scored in his limited playing time. He has never faced Hancock in his career.

Wed Apr 1618:14Kristian Campbell Taking A Seat On Wednesday
Boston Red Sox rookie second baseman Kristian Campbell is taking the day off for Wednesday's contest against the division-rival Tampa Bay Rays at George M. Steinbrenner Field. He will be replaced at second base by David Hamilton, who will hit eighth against struggling Rays right-hander Zack Littell. Campbell will get a breather after starting each of the team's last eight games. One of the team's top prospects coming into the year, the 22-year-old earned an Opening Day roster spot as the starting second baseman and has not disappointed in his first 18 games, hitting .302/.392/.508 with a .900 OPS, three homers, four RBI, six RBI, a steal, 11 runs scored, 10 walks and 18 strikeouts. He should be back in there after an off day on Thursday in Friday's series opener against the Chicago White Sox. Hamilton offers very little offensive upside at the bottom of the batting order and has just one hit in 21 at-bats this year.

Tue Apr 1508:27Kristian Campbell Hits Home Run No. 3
Boston Red Sox infield prospect Kristian Campbell went 2-for-3 with a home run during their loss to the Tampa Bay Rays on Monday evening. Campbell would score Boston's lone run in this contest on a solo shot in the third frame. Campbell would go deep against Tampa Bay right-hander Shane Baz. Campbell has enjoyed an impressive start to his MLB career. He has reached base safely in each of his first 17 contests. Across this stint, the Georgia Tech product has posted a stellar .328/.420/.552 slash line with four doubles, three long balls, and one stolen base. He has shown a strong eye at the plate, holding a 10:16 BB:K. Boston has typically deployed Campbell at the keystone but has also given him five starts in the outfield. He will look to stay hot at the plate on Tuesday, facing Ryan Pepiot.

Mon Apr 716:32Kristian Campbell Getting His First Day Off Of The Season
Boston Red Sox second base prospect Kristian Campbell will take his first day off of the season in Monday's series opener against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays at Fenway Park. David Hamilton will get the start at the keystone and will hit eighth for the BoSox against Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios. Campbell, the team's former fourth-round pick in 2023 out of the Georgia Institute of Technology, is off to a great start in his first major-league season. The 22-year-old is slashing .364/.476/.667 with a 1.143 OPS, two home run, four doubles, five RBI, one stolen base, 10 runs scored, eight walks and eight strikeouts in his first 10 games. Campbell has quickly become a must-roster player in all fantasy leagues, and his eight-year, $60 million deal could end up being a huge steal for Boston. Hamilton is hitting .200 in just five career at-bats versus Berrios.

Boston Red Sox second baseman Kristian Campbell went 2-for-4 with a homer and two RBI in an 8-4 win over the Baltimore Orioles on Thursday. Campbell launched a two-run homer off Baltimore starter Charlie Morton in the second inning to give the Red Sox a 4-1 lead in the early going. The 22-year-old second baseman is off to a hot start in 2025, picking up 10 hits in 24 at-bats, including two homers and four doubles. Wed Apr 213:51Red Sox Sign Kristian Campbell To Eight-Year, $60 Million Extension
The Boston Red Sox have signed infield/outfield prospect Kristian Campbell to an eight-year, $60 million extension that includes two club options. Campbell is one of the top prospects in Boston and the entire sport and will now serve as a franchise player for the foreseeable future. Despite his slow start in spring training, the Georgia Tech product was able to make the Opening Day roster. Through his first five games in the majors, Campbell has tallied at least one hit in all but one and launched his first career long ball on March 29. During this stretch, he has scored four runs and added two doubles. Last season, the 22-year-old progressed through the Boston system at an impressive pace, starting the season at High-A and ending the campaign with Triple-A. Across 115 total games, Campbell posted a .330/.439/.558 slash line with 32 doubles and 20 home runs. Even though he has come up through the minor leagues as a second baseman, he has also begun to see time in the outfield. Fantasy managers should continue to view Campbell as a strong option in all formats, as he should have an everyday role in the starting nine throughout the season.
