Fri Aug 2900:17Andrew Painter Allows Six Runs in Six Innings in Thursday's Outing
Philadelphia Phillies right-handed pitching prospect Andrew Painter allowed six runs on nine hits and three walks while striking out seven against Triple-A Omaha. Painter continued his rough August and was roughed up a bit in this one despite missing some bats. He racked up 18 whiffs on 46 swings, leaning heavily on his changeup, which produced 13. The poor outing has amounted to a 7.77 ERA, 1.93 WHIP, and a 27:16 K:BB in 24 1/3 innings for the month. The right-hander frequently struggles against left-handed hitters, giving up a .287 batting average. The top prospect has high-quality stuff and the ability to strike batters out, but the consistency with his command isn't there at the moment. He could still be in consideration for an end-of-season promotion, but it seems less likely.

Mon Aug 1807:08Andrew Painter Rebounds at Triple-A
Philadelphia Phillies right-handed pitching prospect Andrew Painter was able to bounce back in his most recent outing at Triple-A. After allowing a hefty nine hits and seven earned runs in his outing on August 10 against Scranton Wilkes/Barre, Painter tossed five innings of three-run ball (two earned) en route to picking up the victory over Buffalo. In this start, Painter allowed four hits and held a modest 5:3 K:BB. While his command continued to be an issue in this start, seeing him bounce back was a positive sign. Since the start of July, Painter has struggled to find his footing at Triple-A as he has carried a 6.37 ERA and a 1.54 WHIP. Despite his struggles, Painter remains a top pitching prospect to stash as he could find a path to the majors very soon, with Zack Wheeler recently hitting the injured list due to blood clots.

Wed Aug 1306:20Andrew Painter Stumbling at Triple-A
Philadelphia Phillies right-handed pitching prospect Andrew Painter has had a rough stretch at Triple-A. In his last start on Sunday against Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, the former first-round pick allowed nine hits and seven earned runs through 4 1/3 innings. In his previous outing on August 5, Painter also struggled serving up five runs with a 4:4 K:BB through four innings of work against Scranton as well. However, before this rough two-game skid, Painter held a solid 3.12 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP over his last three outings, which suggested he may have been nearing the final stages of his development. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his progress at Triple-A as the Phillies could look to promote him to strengthen their rotation during the final months of the season. While he has struggled recently, he is still a strong stash option in standard formats, given his high strikeout upside.

Fri Jul 2500:46Andrew Painter Allows Only One Hit on Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter allowed two runs on one hit and three walks while striking out four across six innings against Triple-A Norfolk. Painter conceded just one hit all night, with it being a solo home run to Orioles first baseman Ryan Mountcastle, who is out on a rehab assignment. He generated whiffs on all six pitches in his arsenal, totaling nine on 31 swings. He also consistently induced weak contact with an 82.6 MPH average exit velocity. The right-hander wasn't in the zone as often as you'd like at 45 percent, but still produced a quality start in 76 pitches. It was easily his best start of June, where he has struggled overall with a 5.91 ERA, 1.27 WHIP, and an 18:5 K:BB in 21.1 innings. The Phillies' top prospect has things to clean up, but could debut in the majors as a starter or reliever late in the season.

Tue Jul 2214:38Andrew Painter's Promotion Timetable Uncertain
Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter will join the Philly rotation "if we have the need and if he is throwing well at that time. He isn't guaranteed a spot in a rotation at any point," according to the team's president of baseball operations, Dave Dombrowski. He mentioned earlier this year that a July timeframe would be what they'd be looking at for a call-up for Painter, but it hinges on the rotation needs, and right now, they do not have one in his view. Not only that, Painter hasn't been pitching well as of late, allowing five home runs while posting a 7.04 ERA, a 1.50 WHIP, and an 8.22 K/9 over his last three starts. There's still a good chance Philadelphia's top-ranked prospect will make a debut sometime this year, but it might take an injury at this point. The 6-foot-7 righty remains one of the top prospect stashes in fantasy leagues due to his upside and environment.

Mon Jul 1423:46Andrew Painter Allows Two Home Runs, Strikes Out Four in Latest Start
Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter allowed three earned runs on six hits, including two home runs, but did not walk a batter and struck out four in five innings for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Sunday. The Phils' top prospect (MLB No. 9) began the year with a 3.18 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, a 20.5 percent K-BB%, and a 0.95 HR/9 through his first eight starts (28 1/3 IP), but over his last eight starts (38 2/3 IP), the righty has posted a 6.05 ERA, 1.53 WHIP, a 15.2 percent K-BB%, and a 2.33 HR/9. Hopefully he's just working on some things, and these are the growing pains of life in Triple-A, as the 6-foot-7 hurler was expected to make his major league debut this season. That still might happen for the former first-rounder, and if he lives up to expectations, then he should remain a stash candidate for those in need of pitching help in deep and NL-only leagues.

Wed Jul 900:19Andrew Painter Coughs Up Five Runs
Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter allowed five runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out three in 5.1 innings against Triple-A Syracuse. The 6'7" right-hander allowed a good amount of hard contact with an average exit velocity of 93.9 MPH. Painter has struggled to limit damage recently, as he has now allowed nine runs across 9.1 innings so far through two starts in July. He still owns a solid 26.3 percent strikeout rate for the year, but that's a decent step down from the gaudy numbers he has previously posted in the minor leagues. While the overall numbers don't look great, Painter is still one of the top arms in the minor leagues. There's a chance we see him up with the big league club late in the season, where his fantasy value will depend on his usage.

Fri Jul 400:26Andrew Painter Concedes Four Runs in Five Innings on Thursday
Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter allowed four runs on seven hits and one walk with seven strikeouts across five innings against Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre. The 6'7" right-hander racked up 16 whiffs on 52 swings for the night, but ran into some trouble in the fourth inning when he gave up all four runs. He filled up the strike zone, however, with 65 of his 95 pitches going for strikes. Painter hasn't been quite as dominant at Triple-A compared to some of the lower levels he mowed through, as he holds a 4.57 ERA, 1.43 WHIP, and a 52:19 K:BB in 45.1 innings in 2025. The 22-year-old has great stuff while still developing his command. The Phillies' top pitching prospect could be called up to help reinforce the bullpen with the big league club later on in the season.

Mon Jun 3016:52Andrew Painter Won't Pitch in Futures Game
Philadelphia Phillies right-handed pitching prospect Andrew Painter will be on the roster for the MLB Futures Game during the All-Star break, but he will not be pitching. The Phillies want to keep Painter on their plan, according to manager Rob Thomson. Painter is still on the comeback trail after having Tommy John surgery in July of 2023, and although he has already made 13 starts with Single-A Clearwater and Triple-A Lehigh Valley this year, the Phillies are taking it slow with the No. 5 overall prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline. The 22-year-old former first-rounder in 2021 should already be stashed in all dynasty/keeper leagues, and he could become a priority addition in redraft leagues as well if he joins Philly's starting rotation in the second half of 2025. Painter currently has a 4.18 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 57:19 K:BB in 51 2/3 innings on the farm.

Sat Jun 2808:00Andrew Painter Tallies Five Strikeouts in Latest Outing
Philadelphia Phillies right-handed pitching prospect Andrew Painter tossed 4 2/3 innings of two-run ball in his latest outing with Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday evening. Facing Triple-A Buffalo, the top prospect in the Philadelphia system struck out five batters and allowed only one walk. Since allowing six runs on June 4, Painter has begun to turn the corner at Triple-A, tossing 14 1/3 innings to the tune of a 2.51 ERA, 1.26 WHIP, and a 16:7 K:BB. The 22-year-old opened the campaign with Low-A Clearwater but needed only 11 1/3 innings to prove he was ready to join Triple-A. While Painter has missed the previous two seasons recovering from Tommy John, the top prospect appears to be increasing in workload and remains on track to join the majors early in the second half. He remains a strong stash option in all 12-team leagues.

Mon Jun 1606:42Andrew Painter Tosses Five One-Hit Frames
Philadelphia Phillies right-handed pitching prospect Andrew Painter tossed five shutout frames in his start against Triple-A Worcester on Sunday. In this outing, Painter allowed just one hit and two walks. He struck out six batters. This was a much-needed bounce-back outing for the budding ace as he allowed 10 runs and 14 hits over his last nine innings of work. During these nine innings, Painter allowed four walks and struck out nine hitters. Prior to that minor skid, Painter held a 2.65 ERA with a 1.24 WHIP during his first four starts with Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Painter began the season with Low-A and held a 3.97 ERA with a stellar 0.97 WHIP through a brief 11 1/3 inning stint. Given his strong bounce back, Painter could be in the mix to reach the majors in the coming weeks. As a result, he is a solid stash candidate in all standard leagues.

Tue Jun 1023:39Andrew Painter Coughs Up Six Runs on Tuesday
Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter allowed six runs on eight hits and no walks with four strikeouts across five innings in Tuesday's 8-1 loss against Triple-A Worcester. Painter took the loss and conceded a lot of hard contact in this outing, with a 92.8 average exit velocity. The whiffs weren't quite there either for the 22-year-old with only seven on 44 swings. Painter has stumbled a bit in June as he's allowed 10 runs in nine innings. He ranks as the number five overall prospect on MLB.com and will likely make his MLB debut at some point this season.

Thu Jun 500:51Andrew Painter Allows Four Runs in Four Innings
Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter took the loss on Wednesday against Triple-A Charlotte, as he allowed four runs on six hits and four walks over four innings. He struck out five. Most of the damage came on a solo homer in the first inning and then a two-run shot in the second. Neither of the homers was exactly smoked, with the first one leaving the bat at 91 MPH. Aside from some lapses in control with four walks, he ran into a bit of bad luck. The top prospect still generated plenty of whiffs, recording 13 on 52 swings and getting multiple on each of his four pitches. There wasn't a ton of hard contact as he allowed an 84.5 MPH exit velocity on balls in play. With this outing, he holds a 3.90 ERA, 1.30 WHIP, and a 37:12 K:BB in 32.1 innings. The right-hander should be expected to come up to the majors sometime in the summer.

Mon Jun 213:35Andrew Painter Not Expected to Debut Until Second Half
Philadelphia Phillies top prospect Andrew Painter is progressing as planned at Triple-A Lehigh Valley, but manager Rob Thomson said it's unlikely that the 22-year-old right-hander will make his MLB debut until the second half of the 2025 season. In his four starts with the Iron Pigs, Painter has a 2.65 ERA with 20 strikeouts in 17 innings, and his fastball is sitting around 97 mph while topping out at 100 mph. His recovery from Tommy John surgery has been great. The Phillies plan to use the All-Star break (July 14-17) to let Painter rest and recharge. It's possible that Painter makes his debut in late July, but the Phillies are keeping their options open and aren't committing to anything. He's thrown a total of 28 1/3 innings in the minors this year, and the plan all along was to delay his progression this spring so that he will have innings left to help the team down the stretch. Painter is the No. 2 pitching prospect in baseball, per MLB Pipeline.

Thu May 2923:35Andrew Painter Fans Five Over Five Innings
Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter picked up the win Thursday against Triple-A Norfolk. He allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out five. He relied heavily on his four-seamer and cutter in this start, throwing them more than 80 percent of the time. While Painter hasn't gone deep into any start, the 22-year-old hasn't allowed more than three runs in a start all season. Through 28 1/3 innings, Painter owns a 3.18 ERA, 1.13 WHIP, and a 32:8 K:BB. Painter should be expected to make his debut sometime around mid-season and makes for a solid stash at the moment.

Mon May 1915:09Andrew Painter Strikes Out Three in Latest Start at Triple-A
Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter pitched well in his second start at Triple-A Lehigh Valley this past Thursday, allowing two earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out three over five innings of work. The former first-rounder continues to work his way back to form after an elbow injury and eventual Tommy John surgery kept him out of action in 2023 and 2024, but after showing well in the Arizona Fall League last year and with six starts under his belt so far in 2025, the 6-foot-7 hurler is getting ever closer to making his big league debut. The call could come after a few more starts at Triple-A, working up to 71 pitches his last time out. MLB's fifth-ranked prospect brings a big-time fastball that sits in the high 90s and can touch 100, along with a curve, changeup, and slider that should enable him to be a solid fantasy contributor from the outset, making him one of the top prospect stashes for managers who have an available bench or NA spot.

Thu May 822:50Andrew Painter Strikes Out Five In Triple-A Debut
Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter made his first start for Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Thursday, tossing three shutout innings, allowing one hit and three walks while striking out five. The 22-year-old wasn't as sharp as he'd been over his four starts at Single-A, throwing only 34 of 60 pitches for strikes. Nevertheless, the Phillies' top prospect (MLB No. 5) remains on track to be called up to the majors within the next month or so, and is one of the top prospect stashes for fantasy.

Fri May 218:07Andrew Painter Set To Join Triple-A
Philadelphia Phillies starting pitching prospect Andrew Painter is set to join Triple-A Lehigh Valley next Thursday. This is a big step for one of the top pitching prospects in the sport. Painter had dealt with numerous injuries throughout his young career, but appears to be nearing his MLB debut. The Phillies are closely monitoring Painter's workload as they hope he could have a role in the major leagues during the second half of the season. Throughout the early part of the campaign, the No. 7-ranked prospect in the sport on MLB Pipeline has logged 11 1/3 innings of work at Low-A. Across this stint, Painter has posted a 3.97 ERA with a stellar 0.97 WHIP. He has struck out 12 batters and served up just one walk. He is a name to keep a close eye on as he should carry high fantasy value when he gets the call to Philadelphia.

Thu May 122:47Andrew Painter Pounds The Zone In Latest Start
Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter made his fourth start of the season on Thursday, allowing three earned runs on three hits (two HR) and no walks while striking out two over four innings of work for Single-A Clearwater. The righty threw only 42 pitches, one shy of his season-high, but 31 of them went for strikes. The team has indicated that they intend to have him debut in the majors sometime in July, so expect to see his pitch-counts begin to rise over the next severalstarts, and with Double-A being the highest level the 6-foot-7 hurler has achieved to this point, one would expect a move beyond Single-A soon as well for that timeline to hold. The former first-round draft pick would be a stash candidate as he gets closer to a debut, so interested managers should continue to monitor his progression, as any hiccups would cause a delay in when he arrives in the big leagues.

Sat Apr 1906:37Andrew Painter Sharp In Second Rehab Outing
Philadelphia Phillies pitching prospect Andrew Painter was sharp in his second rehab outing with Low-A Clearwater. Painter tossed three no-hit frames. He did not allow a walk and struck out four. This was a strong improvement compared to the two runs he allowed over his first rehab outing (one 1/3 innings). During his first outing, he struck out three batters but also allowed a free pass. Painter is considered one of the top prospects in the sport. However, the former 13th overall pick has battled numerous injuries, which have limited him each season. Currently, the right-hander is healthy and is slowly increasing his workload. When Painter does not have any restrictions, he will likely report to Double-A Reading. Fantasy managers should expect the 22-year-old to have a role in he majors after the All-Star break.
