Tue Sep 217:11Warming Bernabel Remains Sidelined
Colorado Rockies rookie infielder Warming Bernabel (knee, quadriceps) is not in the starting lineup for Tuesday's contest against the division-rival San Francisco Giants at Coors Field. Kyle Farmer will make the start at first base and will bat eighth against Giants right-hander Logan Webb. Bernabel is dealing with a bruised left knee and quadriceps muscle and will take a seat for the third straight game. The 23-year-old is considered day-to-day right now and could be back in action for Wednesday's game in Denver. Farmer should be considered a very low-upside DFS sleeper despite playing at hitter-friendly Coors Field. The 35-year-old veteran has hit .230 (59-for-256) this year with seven homers and 28 RBI. He is also hitless in eight career at-bats against Webb with a .111 OPS.

Mon Sep 114:13Warming Bernabel Absent Against Giants
Colorado Rockies rookie infielder Warming Bernabel (knee, quadriceps) is not in the team's starting lineup at Coors Field for Monday's series opener against the division-rival San Francisco Giants. Orlando Arcia is getting the nod at first base and will bat ninth for the Rockies against Giants right-hander Kai-Wei Teng. Bernabel is missing a second straight game after he was foced to leave Saturday's contest against the Chicago Cubs with a bruised left knee and quad muscle. He's considered day-to-day for now. Check back to see if the 23-year-old is active for Game 2 of the series on Tuesday. Although the matchup is a good one and it's at hitter-friendly Coors Field, DFS managers can't realistically consider Arcia for their lineups on Monday. The Venezuelan veteran is hitting just over .200 with only three home runs and 13 RBI in 179 at-bats with Atlanta and Colorado this year.

Sun Aug 3113:26Warming Bernabel Out Sunday
Colorado Rockies rookie first baseman Warming Bernabel (knee, quad) left a 4-3 loss to the Chicago Cubs early on Saturday with a bruised left knee and quad. He fouled a ball off himself in the second inning and had to exit shortly after that. Bernabel is out of the lineup on Sunday against the Cubs, while Kyle Farmer will play first and hit sixth in a meeting with left-hander Matthew Boyd. The Rockies will start a series against the San Francisco Giants on Monday, but it's unclear if Bernabel will return then. Since debuting on July 26, the 23-year-old has slashed .252/.283/.435 with four homers, 13 RBI, and 14 runs scored in 120 plate appearances. He went seven straight games without a hit before singling on Saturday.

Sat Aug 2318:09Warming Bernabel Returning on Saturday
Colorado Rockies rookie corner infielder Warming Bernabel (head) is back in the starting nine ahead of Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Bernabel was pulled from Thursday's lineup after getting hit in the face with a throw during infield drills. He was absent from Friday's lineup but is back in the mix on Saturday. Bernabel will cover first base and bat second versus right-hander Mike Burrows. The 23-year-old prospect is hitting .304/.342/.565 with three home runs and eight RBI against right-handed pitching since being called up. He's worth a look as a streaming option in deep leagues.

Fri Aug 2215:16Warming Bernabel Taking Another Day Off
Colorado Rockies rookie infielder Warming Bernabel (face) is out of the starting lineup again for Friday's series opener against the hosting Pittsburgh Pirates at PNC Park. Orlando Arcia will make the start at first base and will hit eighth against Pirates right-hander Braxton Ashcraft. Bernabel was scratched from Thursday's series finale at Coors Field against the Los Angeles Dodgers as a precaution after he was hit in the face by a throw during pre-game infield drills. It's not believed that the 23-year-old is dealing with any structural damage to his face, so we'd expect him to return to the starting nine before the end of the weekend series in the Steel City. The Dominican has impressed in his first taste of big-league pitching through 24 games and should continue to see regular playing time at first for Colorado to close out the year. Bernabel has hit .311/.340/.544 with four homers and 13 RBI in a small sample size.
