Thu Jul 3 | 23:29 | Ronny Henriquez Secures Fifth Save |
Miami Marlins reliever Ronny Henriquez earned his fifth save of the year in a 4-1 win over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday. Henriquez threw a 1-2-3 ninth inning on 15 pitches and struck out one. The 23-year-old right-hander has emerged as the favorite for saves in Miami, which had mostly used Calvin Faucher in the closer role until the past couple of weeks. Faucher threw a scoreless eighth inning on Thursday for his fifth hold. Henriquez, meanwhile, has converted all four of his save opportunities since June 22. He now owns a 2.79 ERA with 58 strikeouts, 16 walks, and a 1.19 WHIP in 42 innings. |

Tue Jul 1 | 21:28 | Ronny Henriquez Picks Up Fourth Save |
Miami Marlins reliever Ronny Henriquez pitched a perfect ninth inning Tuesday to earn his fourth save in a 2-0 win over the Minnesota Twins. Henriquez closed out the game on 13 pitches and fanned a pair of hitters to help the Marlins to their eighth straight win. The 25-year-old has now gone 3-for-3 in save opportunities since June 22. While Calvin Faucher leads the team with eight saves, the Marlins haven't used him to close a game since June 24. Sun Jun 29 | 23:24 | Ronny Henriquez Earns Third Save |
Miami Marlins reliever Ronny Henriquez closed out the team's 6-4 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday with a perfect ninth inning. Henriquez retired the side in order on 13 pitches and struck out one to collect his third save. The 25-year-old has gotten the call in two of the Marlins' past three save situations. Calvin Faucher, who leads the team with eight saves, pitched the eighth inning Sunday against the top of the Diamondbacks' order. It didn't work out, as Faucher gave up two earned runs on three hits. He's likely still the Marlins' top choice for saves with Henriquez next in line. Henriquez has logged a 2.93 ERA with 55:16 K:BB, a 1.25 WHIP, and 11 holds in 40 innings. |

Mon Jun 23 | 07:04 | Ronny Henriquez Picks Up a Save on Sunday |
Miami Marlins right-hander Ronny Henriquez secured a 5-3 win over the Atlanta Braves with a scoreless ninth inning. Henriquez worked around one hit and struck out one in the frame to pick up his second save of the season. The 25-year-old needed just 12 pitches in the contest while lowering his ERA to 3.00, to go along with a 1.33 WHIP, and 48 strikeouts across 36 innings of work. Henriquez has now posted four straight scoreless appearances, but he still appears to be behind Calvin Faucher in the saves pecking order. |

Tue Feb 11 | 19:43 | Marlins Claim Ronny Henriquez Off Waivers |
According to the team, the Miami Marlins have claimed right-handed pitcher Ronny Henriquez off waivers from the Minnesota Twins. In a corresponding move, the team designated right-handed pitcher Xzavion Curry for assignment. Henriquez has spent his entire MLB career with the Twins. Last season, the right-hander appeared in 16 games for the Twins (one start) and posted a 3.26 ERA with a 1.29 WHIP in 19 innings. He posted a poor 18.3 percent strikeout rate but did show a strong command of his pitches with a 6.1 percent walk rate. He also generated an elite 53.3 percent ground-ball rate. Across 207 1/3 innings at the Triple-A level, Henriquez held a 5.08 ERA with a 1.44 WHIP. Fantasy managers should expect the 24-year-old to compete for a spot in the Miami bullpen during spring training. |

Fri Feb 7 | 15:59 | Ronny Henriquez Designated For Assignment |
The Minnesota Twins designated right-hander Ronny Henriquez for assignment on Friday to make room on the 40-man roster for left-hander Danny Coulombe and outfielder Harrison Bader, who were both signed this week in free agency. Henriquez made his major-league debut with the Twins in 2022 but didn't appear in the big leagues again until last year, posting a 3.26 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP with 15 strikeouts and five walks in only 19 1/3 innings pitched over 16 outings (one start). In his 19 appearances in Minnesota, the 25-year-old Dominican hurler has a solid 2.90 ERA with 24 punchouts and eight walks in 31 innings. Henriquez doesn't have minor-league options remaining, so he could end up clearing waivers and returning to Minnesota as minor-league relief depth. |

Fri Feb 24 2023 | 21:30 | Ronny Henriquez To Be Sidelined One Week |
Minnesota Twins pitcher Ronny Henriquez (elbow) is set to miss at least a week of action. The organization plans to shut down the 22-year-old for about a week before they re-evaluate his elbow soreness. He was already a long shot to make the roster, but this certainly isn't going to help. Henriquez allowed three earned runs over 11 2/3 innings in three relief appearances for the Twins last season. He'll likely head to the minors to begin the 2023 season. However, Henriquez could very well return to the team at some point or make the roster out of camp. Regardless, he's unlikely to have any fantasy value unless the team decides to stretch him out into a starter. Henriquez did make 14 starts in Triple-A last season. It's uncertain if he'll be a bullpen option or join the rotation at some point down the road. |
