Wed Jul 2 | 15:20 | Twins Placing Bailey Ober on 15-Day Injured List With Hip Impingement |
The Minnesota Twins are placing right-hander Bailey Ober (hip) on the 15-day injured list on Wednesday with a left-hip impingement and recalling left-hander Kody Funderburk from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move, according to Minneapolis Star Tribune's Phil Miller. It's unclear who will take Ober's start on Friday against the Tampa Bay Rays. The hip injury could help explain why Ober has coughed up seven runs in three of is last four starts to raise his season ERA to 5.28 and his WHIP to 1.41 in 92 innings over his 17 starts for the Twins. The 29-year-old hasn't been of much help in fantasy with only 74 punchouts and a 4-6 record. Given his struggles in 2025, the Twins probably won't be in a rush to bring him back to the rotation in the second half of the season until they're sure he's 100% healthy. In addition to Ober, starters Pablo Lopez and Zebby Matthews are currently on the IL. |

Tue Jun 24 | 00:11 | Bailey Ober Allows Three Homers In Monday's Loss |
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober continued to struggle in Monday's 11-2 loss to the Mariners. Ober pitched seven innings, allowing seven runs on seven hits (including three home runs) and no walks with seven strikeouts. He also hit a batter. The 29-year-old has allowed at least four earned runs in each of his last four starts and has allowed at least one HR in each of his last five starts. He is now 4-5 with a 4.90 ERA, a 1.37 WHIP, a 7.19 K/9 rate, and a 1.77 HR/9 rate in 16 starts and 86 1/3 IP. His next scheduled start will be a tough matchup at the Tigers. Ober has offered a high fantasy floor throughout his career, except for this season. Fantasy managers may not have a choice but to sit him until he can show signs of that high floor again. |

Thu Jun 12 | 19:12 | Bailey Ober Hit Hard in Loss to Rangers |
It wasn't Minnesota Twins right-hander Bailey Ober's best day on Thursday against the visiting Texas Rangers at Target Field. In an eventual 16-3 blowout loss, Ober was beat up to the tune of seven earned runs allowed on six hits (four home runs surrendered) while walking a season-high six and striking out three in 4 2/3 innings. The home run allowance has been a theme for the 29-year-old hurler during his recent struggles on the mound, as he's given up seven fence-clearers in his last three starts covering 15 2/3 innings. Things might not get much better in his next scheduled start next week against the Reds in Cincinnati. Overall, Ober is now 4-3 in 2025 with a 4.40 ERA and 1.38 WHIP with 57 strikeouts and 21 walks in 73 2/3 frames. He sits in just the 25th percentile in strikeout rate and 48th percentile in whiff rate. |

Sat May 3 | 22:28 | Bailey Ober Goes Six Innings In Win Over BoSox |
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober picked up his fourth win of the season in Saturday's 4-3 victory over the Boston Red Sox. The North Carolina native scattered seven hits (one double), allowing one earned run and striking out six while issuing one free pass. He fired 62 of 94 pitches for strikes, inducing 18 swings-and-misses for a strong 32% CSW% in the quality start. Ober mostly cruised through this one, running into trouble in the third inning when Jarren Duran doubled and was driven in a batter later by Rafael Devers after reaching third on a Carlos Correa error. He'd recover, though, and let up just three singles thereafter. The 29-year-old has been fine thus far in 2025, and will carry a 3.72 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with a 4-1 record into his next start, which projects to come against the San Francisco Giants at home late next week. |

Tue Apr 29 | 00:17 | Bailey Ober Extends Quality-Start Stretch To Four In Monday's Win |
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober continued to turn things around in Monday's 11-1 win over the Guardians. Ober pitched 7 2/3 innings, allowing one run on eight hits and no walks with two strikeouts. The 29-year-old managed just 6 2/3 IP combined in his first two starts, but he has turned in four consecutive quality starts since. Ober is now 3-1 with a 4.13 ERA, a 1.35 WHIP, and a 6.89 K/9 rate in 32 2/3 IP. His peripherals are still relatively bloated, but he has looked much better since his disastrous first start. He will look to extend his quality start streak in his next start, which will be a tough matchup at the Red Sox. |

Thu Apr 10 | 21:50 | Bailey Ober Has Quality Start On Thursday |
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober was sharp on the mound during Thursday's outing against the Kansas City Royals. The right-hander went six innings, allowing five hits, one earned run, and striking out four batters in the no-decision. Ober was hit around in the first inning, but he settled down nicely after that. He has posted back-to-back outings with only one earned run, but his ERA is still 7.11 because he was crushed in his season opener. The veteran right-hander is scheduled to pitch against the New York Mets next week. That's not exactly a favorable matchup for Ober, but he appears to be getting back on track now. |

Mon Mar 31 | 17:49 | Bailey Ober Has Been Under The Weather |
Minnesota Twins right-hander Bailey Ober (illness) allowed eight earned runs in just 2 2/3 innings in his first start of the year on Sunday against the St. Louis Cardinals. Ober struggled through diminished velocity and poor command on Sunday and in spring training, but he revealed after his poor start on Sunday that he has been battling an illness. The 29-year-old's fastball averaged 91.7 mph last year, but it fell to 89.9 mph during spring training and was only slightly better on Sunday. He threw only 33 of his 77 pitches for strikes and got only four whiffs on 28 swings while also walking three. Manager Rocco Baldelli noted the coaching staff came close to skipping or pushing Ober's start back. His next scheduled start will be on Saturday at home against the Houston Astros, giving him extra time to get healthy. Fantasy managers will be hoping Ober can bounce back after a rough first start, which is what he did in 2024. |

Thu Sep 19 2024 | 00:43 | Bailey Ober Strikes Out 12 In No-Decision |
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober was excellent over seven innings on Wednesday, allowing two earned runs on four hits and no walks while striking out a career-high 12 batters in a 5-4 loss to the Guardians, although Ober did not factor into the decision. The two runs the righty allowed both came on solo shots from the Guardians' Josh Naylor. It was a nice bounceback game for the 29-year-old after getting roughed up for five runs his last time out. The outing was the 18th quality start in 30 games started this season, and he'll draw a favorable matchup at home his next time out versus the Marlins next Tuesday. |

Mon Sep 2 2024 | 00:54 | Bailey Ober Bounces Back Against Blue Jays |
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober dominated the Blue Jays on Sunday, going six innings while allowing just one run on one hit. Ober struck out eight and walked three in this one, with the only damage coming in the first inning off of an Ernie Clement solo home run. Ober needed a start like this after getting blown up by the Atlanta Braves for nine runs in his last start. To be fair to Ober, that was the only start in his previous 13 where he'd gone less than six innings or given up more than three runs, a span that dates back to June 9. The 29-year-old remains a must-start pitcher heading into fantasy playoffs. |

Fri Aug 9 2024 | 21:44 | Bailey Ober Strikes Out Nine, Posts Ninth Straight Quality Start |
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober was strong yet again on Friday afternoon as he struck out nine in six innings and allowed just two hits in the Twins' 4-2 win over the Cleveland Guardians in the first game of their doubleheader. Ober picked up the win, improving his record to 12-5 and decreased his ERA to 3.52 on the season. The right-hander now has three straight games with seven strikeouts or more, especially impressive against a Guardians team that doesn't post a high K%. With the Twins fighting to hold onto a wild card spot (+1.0 GB) and chasing Cleveland for the AL Central lead (2.5 GB) Ober's performance on the mound has been key for the Twins. He'll look to keep his strong season going during his next scheduled start on Wednesday when the Kansas City Royals come to Target Field. Ober has had a rough go against the Royals, who own a .411 wOBA against him in 104 PA, so fantasy managers may want to temper expectations for Ober on Wednesday. |

Thu Jul 11 2024 | 10:56 | Bailey Ober Takes Loss Despite Quality Start |
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober took the loss in Wednesday's 3-1 defeat at the hands of the White Sox despite recording a quality start. Ober went six innings, allowing three earned runs on four hits and one walk while striking out six batters. He allowed a two-run home run with two outs in the sixth inning to Luis Robert Jr., otherwise, his line would have looked even better. It was Ober's fifth consecutive quality start and ninth of the season, now 8-5 with a 4.14 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, and a 20.5% K-BB%. The 28-year-old's run of quality starts, while impressive, has come against inferior competition. His next start will come after the All-Star break against the Brewers or Phillies, either of which will be a much tougher test. |

Fri Jul 5 2024 | 09:29 | Bailey Ober Continues To Trend Up |
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober put together his fourth straight quality start on Thursday versus the division rival Detroit Tigers. Ober tossed six innings and allowed seven hits, three runs (one earned), no walks and struck out eight on the day. Ober hit a bump in the road earlier in the year, but has been on a heater over his last four starts. In that span, he has tossed 27 1/3 innings and allowed five earned runs, five walks and recorded 35 strikeouts. Ober has always had the talent, but health and consistency have been his biggest cons. Pitching has been hard to come by in 2024 and managers that stayed patient with Ober are being rewarded. The right-hander will look to make it a fifth straight quality start when he faces the Chicago White Sox in a very favorable matchup. |

Sat Jun 29 2024 | 08:37 | Bailey Ober Strikes Out Nine In No-Decision |
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober pitched six innings of one-run ball in Friday's 3-2 loss to the Mariners. Ober allowed just two hits and three walks while striking out nine batters, but did not factor into the decision. It was the 28-year-old's third straight quality start, although the prior two games both came against the Athletics. The Mariners and the A's are the two teams that strike out the most in the majors, which propelled Ober to his strong results over the last three games: 2-0, 1.69 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and a 5:27 BB:K in 21.1 IP. The righty gets another favorable matchup his next time out when he faces the Tigers at home next Thursday. The Tigers have the fourth-lowest team batting average in the majors. |

Wed May 29 2024 | 23:22 | Bailey Ober Allows Six Runs, Picks Up Loss Wednesday |
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober (5-3) picked up the loss Wednesday night, giving up six runs in five innings with four strikeouts, no walks, and nine hits in a 6-1 loss against the Kansas City Royals. The big blow of his day was a four-run third inning in which he gave up a three-run homer to Nelson Velazquez, moving his ERA up on the season to 4.89. After having a 1.48 ERA in April, Ober struggled to the tune of a 5.46 ERA in May. He's also given up seven home runs in five starts this month compared to no home runs in April. Things won't get any easier as his first start of June will be against a hot Bronx Bombers, a team that leads the MLB in long balls this season. |

Sat May 18 2024 | 16:28 | Bailey Ober Aiming For Back-to-Back Quality Starts |
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober will look to notch back-to-back quality starts when he faces off with the Cleveland Guardians on Saturday. This will be Ober's first start against the Guardians in 2024. In 2023 Ober faced Cleveland twice and notched two quality starts, holding them scoreless through 13 IP. Ober has held current Guardians to just a .244 wOBA with a .283 xwOBA in 37 PA. Fantasy managers should aim to have Ober in their lineups on Saturday and DFS managers may want to consider sneaking the 28-year-old into their lineup. |

Sun May 12 2024 | 16:13 | Bailey Ober Dominates Blue Jays On Sunday |

The towering right-hander picked up the win after tossing 6 1/3 scoreless innings and allowed a single hit. He struck out a season-high 10 batters without issuing a walk. Ober had a horrific first start way back in March when he gave up eight earned runs in 1 1/3 innings, but he has been dialled in ever since. He now owns a 4-1 record to go along with a 3.71 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 45:8 K:BB across eight appearances. Ober is an automatic start regardless of opponent at this point. |

Fri Apr 26 2024 | 14:54 | Bailey Ober Looking To Keep Cruising Friday |
Minnesota Twins right-hander Bailey Ober will look to keep rolling on Friday when he hits the road for a matchup with the Los Angeles Angels. The towering 6-foor-9 righty was lit up for eight earned runs in just 1 1/3 innings in his season debut on March 31 but has since allowed all of two earned runs over his last three starts spanning 17 innings of work. He dominated the Tigers over his last two starts, tossing 12 innings of one-run ball by allowing just five hits and one walk against nine punchouts. He still owns a 4.91 ERA due to his first start of the season but he also sports a 3.98 SIERA and has walked just 5.3% of the hitters he has faced. He'll take on an Angels team that is tied for 19th with a .319 wOBA on the season. |

Wed Mar 6 2024 | 09:33 | Bailey Ober Enjoying Nice Spring |
Minnesota Twins starting pitcher Bailey Ober has made two starts in the Grapefruit League this spring and been very impressive. In two starts thus far, Ober has allowed five runs (one earned), three hits, two walks and struck out 10. Seven of those 10 K's were in his most recent outing. Ober, 28, has had his fair share of injuries in his young career, but made a career-high 26 starts in 2023. In that span, he was 8-6 with a 3.43 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 146 strikeouts over 144 1/3 innings. Ober has quietly flown under the radar when health is on his side and with an ADP of 155, he should be able to return strong value in all formats. |
