Wed Nov 20 202400:54Mariners Acquire Austin Shenton From Rays
The Seattle Mariners acquired infielder Austin Shenton from the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday in exchange for cash considerations. In a corresponding move, the Mariners designated right-hander JT Chargois for assignment. Shenton was originally drafted by Seattle in the fifth round in 2019 out of Florida International. The 26-year-old made his major-league debut with the Rays in 2024 but played in only 19 games, going 9-for-42 (.214) with a homer, three RBI and three runs scored. He also appeared in 83 games with Triple-A Durham on the farm and slashed .258/.361/.497 with an .858 OPS, 20 home runs, 65 RBI and 49 runs scored in 363 plate appearances. Shenton will provide the M's with minor-league infield depth heading into spring training next year after hitting .283/.388/.527 in his five seasons in the minors.

Wed Aug 30 202314:27Austin Shenton Keeps Hitting In Triple-A
Tampa Bay Rays' prospect Austin Shenton has continued to produce excellent numbers after a July promotion to Triple-A. The 25-year-old is hitting .289 with 11 home runs over 40 games with Durham. Across two levels this season, the third baseman's overall numbers are just as impressive at .300/.405/.588 and 26 HRs in 481 plate appearances. While you won't find Shenton near the top of many prospect lists, he does have a remarkably consistent track record over his time in the minor leagues. With seemingly very little left to prove on the farm, the Florida International product could see time in Tampa as soon as this September. He should be on the radar for both redraft leagues and dynasty formats.
