Wed Jun 2522:52Lenyn Sosa Goes Yard Twice in Victory
Chicago White Sox second baseman Lenyn Sosa went 3-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI in Wednesday's 7-3 win against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He also singled, struck out, and was caught stealing. The Venezuelan native's first homer of the day was a two-run shot off D-Backs starter Zac Gallen that put his team up 4-2 in the bottom of the fourth frame. Two innings later, Sosa knocked in another run with an RBI-single, and finished the monster performance with a solo bash in the eighth to make it 7-3. He's slashing a solid .277/.298/.416 with six long balls, 12 doubles, 22 runs scored, and 22 RBI through 66 appearances.

Thu Jun 1913:05Edgar Quero, Lenyn Sosa Sitting for First Game of Doubleheader
Chicago White Sox rookie catcher Edgar Quero and infielder Lenyn Sosa are out of the starting lineup for Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals. Fellow rookie Kyle Teel will be behind the plate and will hit fifth, while Josh Rojas is starting at second base and batting eighth against Cardinals right-hander Erick Fedde. Quero has been splitting playing time behind the plate since the White Sox called up Teel, but he's been playing regularly while also seeing action as the designated hitter. The 22-year-old Cuban backstop has handled himself well with a .284 average (42-for-148) but is still looking for his first big-league homer and has driven in only 17 runs. After returning from a recent stint on the injured list, Sosa has been more of a part-time player in Chicago. Rojas has hit .250 with an RBI in 12 career at-bats against Fedde.

Tue Jun 1717:05Lenyn Sosa Activated and Starting on Tuesday
The Chicago White Sox announced on Tuesday that they reinstated infielder Lenyn Sosa (hip) from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder/outfielder Brooks Baldwin to Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. Sosa is in the starting lineup for Tuesday's game against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals, playing first base and batting seventh against Cardinals left-hander Matthew Liberatore. The 25-year-old had been serving as the team's starting second baseman before suffering a right hip-flexor strain, but he'll return to the cold corner with Chase Meidroth playing second on Tuesday. The Venezuelan infielder will be a middle-infield option in AL-only leagues for one of the worst teams in baseball, but he also carries third base eligibility in some formats. He'll return to a .274/.291/.383 slash line in 201 at-bats with four homers, 17 RBI and 15 runs scored.

Thu Jun 1222:42Lenyn Sosa to Start Rehab Assignment on Friday
Chicago White Sox infielder Lenyn Sosa (hip) will start a minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Friday, according to MLB.com's Scott Merkin. While Sosa won't come off the 10-day injured list when he's eligible on Friday, he should be back with the White Sox next week, barring a setback in the minors this weekend. The 25-year-old has been out since earlier this month with a right-hip flexor strain. Before his injury, Sosa was slashing .274/.291/.383 with a below-average .674 OPS, four home runs, 10 doubles, 17 RBI, 15 runs scored and a stolen base in 57 games played. When he returns, the Venezuelan infielder should see regular playing time at the keystone in the Windy City. Sosa showed improvement with his contact skills last year and has dual eligibility in most fantasy leagues, making him attractive infield depth in AL-only leagues despite playing on a bad team.

Wed Jun 416:30White Sox Place Lenyn Sosa on 10-Day Injured List With Hip Strain
The Chicago White Sox announced on Wednesday that they placed infielder Lenyn Sosa (hip) on the 10-day injured list with a right hip-flexor strain and recalled infielder Tim Elko from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. Sosa went 0-for-4 in Monday's loss to the Detroit Tigers and didn't play on Tuesday. The 25-year-old has hit .274 on the season but with just four home runs and 17 RBI for the last-place team. In his three-plus MLB seasons with the White Sox, Sosa has hit .241 as a part-time player. With Sosa now on the shelf for at least 10 days, expect Josh Rojas to see most of the playing time at the keystone in the Windy City. Given the nature of Sosa's injury, there's no guarantee he'll be ready to come off the IL when he's eligible on June 13.

Fri May 1614:01Lenyn Sosa Out for Series Opener on Friday
Chicago White Sox second baseman Lenyn Sosa will take a seat for Friday's series opener at Wrigley Field against the crosstown-rival Chicago Cubs and rookie right-hander Cade Horton, who will be making his first official big-league start. Josh Rojas will start at second base for the Pale Hose and will hit eighth in the batting order. Sosa will head to the bench on Friday after starting each of the team's last eight games. The 25-year-old Venezuelan infielder has really only been valuable for volume in AL-only leagues on one of the worst teams in baseball. He's currently hitting .267/.286/.373 with three home runs, 11 RBI, 12 runs scored and one steal in 150 total at-bats. However, he has gone 8-for-21 with a homer, two doubles, an RBI and a steal with four multi-hit games in his last six contests. Rojas offers little DFS appeal with a .143 average (4-for-28) and no homers on the year.

Mon Dec 16 202413:32Lenyn Sosa Hitting Well In The Venezuelan Winter League
Chicago White Sox second baseman Lenyn Sosa is enjoying a hot winter in the Venezuelan Winter League, currently slashing .392/.451/.765 with nine home runs for the Leones del Caracas. The 24-year-old was Chicago's ninth-ranked prospect in 2023, but had a rough 2024 campaign before turning it around in September. Through the end of August, Sosa slashed .216/.247/.295 with four home runs and a 51 wRC+ in 281 plate appearances for the big league club, but for the month of September he slashed .373/.398/.566 with four home runs and a 173 wRC+ in 88 PA. It seems the right-handed hitter has carried that momentum into the winter and managers should keep an eye on what he does this spring. While the environment he plays in doesn't boost his value at all, he may have enough pop in his bat to make him fantasy relevant if he can keep up the hot hitting.

Wed Jul 17 202417:13Danny Mendick DFA'd, Lenyn Sosa Sent Down
To make room on the 40-man roster for newly signed infielder Nick Senzel, the Chicago White Sox designated infielder Danny Mendick for assignment and optioned infielder Lenyn Sosa to Triple-A Charlotte on Wednesday. With Yoan Moncada (groin) out for the majority of the first half of the season, Mendick saw increased playing time on the short side of a platoon at the hot corner in Chicago and hit just .197 (26-for-132) with three home runs, eight RBI and six stolen bases. Sosa, 24, wasn't a whole lot better in limited at-bats in the first half, slashing .237/.274/.350 with four home runs, 15 RBI and three stolen bases in 177 at-bats as a utility infielder. Senzel, a former first-round pick, has more upside than either Mendick or Sosa and will be given a shot at the hot corner in Chicago to open the second half of the season, at least until Moncada returns from his injury.

Tue Apr 9 202416:51Lenyn Sosa Starting At Second Base
Chicago White Sox infielder Lenyn Sosa is starting at second base and is hitting third in the batting order on Tuesday against the Cleveland Guardians and left-hander Logan Allen. This will be Sosa's second start with the White Sox since being called up from the minors over the weekend. With the 24-year-old drawing into the lineup at second base, Nicky Lopez will hit the bench for this one. Sosa has gone 2-for-5 so far in his two games but hit just .201/.224/.348 with six home runs, 14 RBI and 12 runs scored in 173 plate appearances over 52 games for the Pale Hose last year. He'll be in a nice lineup spot to make him a deep DFS sleeper on Tuesday, but Sosa's opportunity speaks more to Chicago's lack of options than his actual talent.

Tue Apr 11 202308:24White Sox Promoting Lenyn Sosa Tuesday
The Chicago White Sox are calling up prospect Lenyn Sosa from Triple-A on Tuesday, according to James Fegan of The Athletic. The 23-year-old has been tearing up Minor League pitching thus far, as he's slashing .448/.556/.828 with two home runs across nine games. Sosa made his Major League debut in 2022 and hit a paltry .114 with a .367 OPS. Obviously, he'll be looking to improve this time around and show off his hitting and power potential that made him Chicago's eighth-ranked prospect, as per MLB Pipeline. Sosa can play both middle infield spots, so he might get everyday reps if Tim Anderson (knee) has to miss time after injuring his knee on Monday. He isn't a must-add, just a deep-league player at this point.

Wed Jan 4 202300:34Romy Gonzalez, Lenyn Sosa Among Second Base Candidates
Chicago White Sox general manager Rick Hahn stated Tuesday that Romy Gonzalez and Lenyn Sosa are the team's leading candidates as internal options to start at second base, per Chicago Sun Times' Daryl Van Schouwen. Hahn also mentioned veteran Leury Garcia as a backup. Gonzalez had a poor 2022 season at the plate, slashing just .238/.257/.352 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 109 plate appearances. Sosa had a very successful season across Double-A Birmingham and Triple-A Charlotte, but he only saw 36 plate appearances at the big-league level. Hahn did mention that it is possible that the White Sox could look outside of the organization for the position, but while neither Gonzalez nor Sosa inspire much fantasy confidence at this time, Sosa's success in the minors makes him a more intriguing fantasy option.
