Mon Jun 2307:29Mickey Moniak Launches Three-Run HR on Sunday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Mickey Moniak stayed hot in a 4-2 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Sunday. Moniak went 1-for-4 with a three-run homer to lead Colorado to the win. The veteran outfielder's three-run shot came in the fifth inning, erasing a 2-1 Arizona lead. Moniak is now slashing .245/.295/.500 with 11 homers, 27 runs, 27 RBI, and three steals across 192 at-bats for the Rockies. He has been red-hot at the plate of late, hitting .319 with six homers over his past 15 games. The 2016 No. 1 overall draft pick is certainly enjoying hitting in the thin air in Colorado and is worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues.

Tue Jun 1700:18Mickey Moniak Posts Another Two-Hit Performance
Colorado Rockies outfielder Mickey Moniak went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run in Monday's 6-4 road win against the Washington Nationals. He also tripled and scored twice. Moniak's eighth home run of the season came off Nationals' pitcher Kyle Finnegan, and it was a clutch one. The 27-year-old stepped up to bat in the top of the ninth with a runner on after teammate Hunter Goodman smashed a solo shot a few batters earlier to knot up the score at 4-4. Moniak was down in the count when he yanked a painted Finnegan fastball over the right-field wall. It's his third homer in his last six appearances, and he's also notched four two-hit outings in that span.

Fri Jun 1306:58Mickey Moniak Homers in Win Over Giants
Colorado Rockies outfielder Mickey Moniak had a productive game in his team's 8-7 win over the San Francisco Giants on Thursday. Moniak went 2-for-3 with a solo homer and two runs scored to help down San Francisco in the comeback victory. The veteran outfielder was a key part of the comeback as he cut the Giants' lead to 7-3 with his solo homer in the sixth inning. Moniak is now batting .227 with seven homers, 21 runs, 18 RBI, and two stolen bases across 163 at-bats this season. He is on a modest hot streak, with a .278 average and two homers over his past seven contests.

Sat Jun 717:02Mickey Moniak Placed on Bereavement List
The Rockies announced that they have placed outfielder Mickey Moniak on the bereavement list and recalled fellow outfielder Sean Bouchard from Triple-A Albuquerque. Moniak went 2-for-3 with a home run in the Rockies' loss to the Mets on Friday, but this season has been a struggle for the former No. 1 overall pick. He's hitting .220/.269/.409 with six HRs in 171 plate appearances. Bouchard has picked up 72 plate appearances in the majors this year and logged an ugly .169/.250/.246 line with one HR.

Thu May 2212:12Adael Amador, Michael Toglia, Mickey Moniak Sitting on Thursday
Colorado Rockies second baseman Adael Amador, first baseman Michael Toglia and outfielder Mickey Moniak are all on the bench for Thursday's series finale at Coors Field against the Philadelphia Phillies and left-hander Ranger Suarez. Aaron Schunk is at the keystone and is hitting eighth, Kyle Farmer is playing first base and batting seventh, and Tyler Freeman is in right field and in the six-hole. Freeman is the only one of the trio that has faced Suarez in his career, and he's gone hitless in seven at-bats. Amador will take a seat after starting each of the last six games. The young infielder has hit just .158 (12-for-76) with a homer and steal as the regular second baseman. The switch-hitting Toglia will sit for a second straight game and could continue to lose more playing time while leading the league with 71 strikeouts in 166 at-bats.

Sun Apr 2008:30Mickey Moniak Knocks In Four Runs
Colorado Rockies outfielder Mickey Moniak has been on a nice stretch at the plate lately. On Saturday, Moniak took left-hander MacKenzie Gore deep with a two-run home run in the second inning. Moniak would later triple in the ninth inning as the Rockies were making a comeback attempt. Unfortunately for them, the Rockies would fall 12-11 in this one. Moniak finished his day 2-for-3 with four RBI and he extended his hit streak to four games. Moniak has two homers and five RBI over his last two games. He might be worth a look in deep leagues or NL-only formats right now.

Sat Mar 2913:31Mickey Moniak Remains Sidelined On Saturday
Colorado Rockies outfielder Mickey Moniak is not in the starting lineup on Saturday afternoon. Instead, Nick Martini will cover right field. The Rockies signed Moniak to a one-year contract worth $1.25 million earlier this week after he was released by the Angels. However, Moniak is still not ready to make his Colorado debut. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he could eventually become the everyday option in right field over Martini. Last season, Moniak posted a .219/.266/.380 slash line with 17 doubles and 14 long balls. He generated a weak .289 xwOBA with a .221 xBA. However, he flashed solid upside on the basepaths as he placed in the 84th percentile in sprint speed. When he does return to the lineup, he could have value in deeper NL-only leagues.

Wed Mar 2622:25Mickey Moniak Lands One-Year Deal With Rockies
After being released by the Los Angeles Angels on Tuesday, outfielder Mickey Moniak has quickly found a home after agreeing to a one-year deal for $1.25 million guaranteed with the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday, according to major-league sources. The 26-year-old former first-round pick by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2016 will also receive termination pay from the Angels worth around $484,000. Moniak's deal with the Rockies will mean he's guaranteed a salary of $1.734 million in 2025. He has experience at all three outfield positions, but most importantly he'll give the Rockies a backup option in center field behind Brenton Doyle. The landing spot in hitter-friendly Coors Field is a plus, but Moniak will most likely be a part-time player and has a career slash line of just .230/.272/.402. Still, he's worth rostering in NL-only leagues with the boost in hitting environment.

Tue Mar 2513:40Angels Release Mickey Moniak
The Los Angeles Angels have released outfielder Mickey Moniak. The 26-year-old posted an underwhelming .179/.224/.346 slash line with one double and two home runs across 21 contests during spring training. Last season, Moniak logged a career-high 124 contests with the Angels and posted a .219/.266/.380 slash line with 17 doubles and 14 home runs. He swiped eight bags. However, he generated a poor .283 xwOBA, which placed him in the 13th percentile among qualified hitters. Moniak also drew walks at a low 5.0 percent rate and struck out at a hefty 27.3 percent rate. The 26-year-old was originally drafted with the first overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft but has yet to take the next step in the major leagues. With Moniak off the roster, fantasy managers should expect Jo Adell to be the everyday center fielder in Los Angeles.

Mon Feb 1712:07Jo Adell, Mickey Moniak The Options In Center Field For Angels
With Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout (knee) moving to right field on a full-time basis in 2025, it means that Jo Adell and Mickey Moniak will play center field for the team. Moniak has played the position the most, but Adell had a very good year in right field in 2024, and the Angels will likely want to keep his bat in the lineup as much as possible. Manager Ron Washington said a few days ago that Taylor Ward will be the left fielder. The 25-year-old Adell has only started 15 games in the majors in center field, but he was a Gold Glove finalist in right field last year. Adell is the more attractive bat in fantasy for his power and speed -- he hit 20 home runs and stole 15 bags last year -- but his strikeout rate was still too high and hit he just .207. He also had a nice 44.7% hard-hit rate, but his struggles against right-handed pitching could mean he's ticketed for more of a platoon role in center with Moniak.

Fri Jan 3113:33Mickey Moniak Wins Arbitration Case With Angels
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak won his salary arbitration case with the Angels on Friday and will receive $2 million during the 2025 season, according to a source. The Angels originally offered Moniak $1.5 million earlier in January. The 26-year-old outfielder had a very similar season in 2024 to his first campaign with the Halos in 2023, hitting 14 home runs with 49 RBI and eight stolen bases in 124 games played. However, he played in just 85 games in 2023 and hit .280 compared to his .219 average (86-for-329) in 2024. The writing was on the wall for Moniak to regress this past season with a strikeout rate well over 30% back in 2023. He still has some power potential, but he hasn't been good enough against left-handed pitchers and figures to open the 2025 season as the Angels' fourth outfielder, so the playing time won't justify him as a bench option in most mixed fantasy leagues.

Sun Sep 15 202419:40Mickey Moniak Considered Day-To-Day
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (hand) was forced to exit late during Sunday's game against the Houston Astros. The left-handed outfielder left in the eighth inning after getting hit by a pitch in the hand. The team already had Moniak undergo further testing which revealed a hand contusion. For now, Moniak is considered as day-to-day, so he should avoid a trip to the injured list. Michael Stefanic replaced him on Sunday, but Jordyn Adams or Gustavo Campero figure to see more playing time while Moniak is out.

Sun Sep 1 202408:45Mickey Moniak Hits Walk-Off Home Run On Saturday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak blasted two decisive home runs in Saturday's 5-4 win over the Mariners. The first was a game-tying two-run shot in the seventh that chased M's starter Bryan Woo from the game, and the second came in the bottom of the ninth with two outs off of closer Andres Munoz which delivered a walk-off win for the Halos. It was the fourth consecutive game in which Moniak has recorded multiple hits, going 8-for-14 (.571) with four home runs, seven RBI, and four runs scored over that stretch. The former first-overall draft pick will look to finish strong after having his best month of the season by far, slashing .359/.397/.719 in August.

Sun Aug 25 202412:36Mickey Moniak Back In Angels Lineup
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (elbow) is back in the starting lineup on Sunday against the Toronto Blue Jays and right-hander Kevin Gausman at the Rogers Centre, playing center field and batting in the five-hole. Moniak will return to action after missing the last couple of contests due to a minor elbow injury. The 26-year-old left-handed batter has hit .125 in eight career at-bats against Gausman but has been productive this month, going 15-for-47 (.319) with two home runs, four doubles, six RBI and seven runs scored in 14 starts. He's also been much more productive against righties in 2024, batting .232 (68-for-293) against them with all eight his home runs. Moniak will be a low-upside DFS sleeper in his return to the lineup. With Mike Trout (knee) out the rest of the season, Moniak will be a regular in center field for the Halos when they face righties.

Sat Aug 24 202416:39Mickey Moniak Is Still Sore
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (elbow) is out of the starting lineup Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays for a second consecutive day after being removed from Thursday's game with an apparent elbow injury. The 26-year-old is playing in his first major league season, where he has eclipsed the 100-game mark and is not living up to his expectations as a former top prospect. In 102 total games (318 at-bats), he is slashing.223/.266/.358 with eight homers, 37 RBI, 37 R, and six stolen bases. The scorching-hot Kevin Pillar is playing center field Saturday and will continue to see an uptick in at-bats while Moniak is sidelined.

Thu Aug 22 202421:15Mickey Moniak Experiencing Elbow Irritation
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak was removed with left elbow irritation in Thursday's game against the hosting Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre. Moniak was hit by a pitch in the fourth inning on Thursday against Toronto, with Kevin Pillar replacing him in center field. Fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day ahead of Friday's contest against the Jays. 2024 has been a massive drop-off after a breakout 2023 season for the 26-year-old former No. 1 overall pick, who's slashing .223/.266/.358 with eight home runs, 37 RBI, 37 runs scored, and six stolen bases over 318 at-bats (102 games) this year for Anaheim. If Moniak needs to go on the injured list, the Halos would have no other choice but to play the lefty-mashing Pillar in center every day.

Tue Jul 9 202409:19Mickey Moniak Has All-Around Offensive Outburst
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak went 2-for-4 with two RBI and two runs scored during Monday's 9-4 loss to the Texas Rangers. Moniak drove in both of his runs with a triple in the bottom of the second that tied the score at the time at 2-2 before scoring the go-ahead run on a single from Jo Adell. He scored the Angels' final run on an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh from Anthony Rendon. Moniak is slashing .196/.245/.311 with four homers, 25 RBI, 24 runs scored, and five stolen bases on seven attempts. Moniak has little to offer for fantasy managers outside of deeper AL-Only leagues.

Wed Jun 26 202406:52Mickey Moniak Hits Grand Slam Tuesday
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak continued his recent hot stretch in a 7-5 win over the Oakland A's on Tuesday. Moniak went 1-for-2 with a grand slam, a walk, and two runs scored in the win over Oakland. With the Angels trailing 2-1 in the fourth inning, Moniak launched his first career grand slam to put LA in the lead. After a slow start to the season, Moniak is swinging a hot bat of late, hitting .304 with two homers and 12 RBI over his past 15 games. Overall this season he is hitting .197 with four homers, 19 runs, 21 RBI, and four steals across 183 at-bats. While his season-long numbers don't look great, Moniak should be rostered in deeper leagues thanks to his recent strong hitting.

Mon Apr 1 202416:44Mickey Moniak Back From Illness
Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mickey Moniak (illness) is feeling better on Monday and is starting in right field and batting eighth versus the Miami Marlins and right-hander Max Meyer. Moniak was scratched from the series finale against the Baltimore Orioles on Sunday but is already feeling better and is back in the lineup. The 25-year-old former first overall pick in 2016 by the Philadelphia Phillies has seen his fantasy stock fall since the end of last year in Anaheim due to the addition of outfielder Aaron Hicks. He's also in the eight-hole on Monday, which won't really endear him to any DFS managers. In two plate appearances through the team's first three games, Moniak has gone hitless. He'll look for his first hit of 2024 in his first start of the season.

Thu Feb 22 202416:07Luis Rengifo, Mickey Moniak Are Candidates To Lead Off
Los Angeles Angels manager Ron Washington said that he envisions second baseman Luis Rengifo or outfielder Mickey Moniak batting leadoff this year. Washington also sees first baseman Nolan Schanuel as the No. 2 hitter in front of outfielder Mike Trout and third baseman Anthony Rendon. Meanwhile, shortstop Zach Neto will hit ninth in the batting order. The 26-year-old switch-hitting Rengifo has fared better against left-handed pitchers, so it would make sense for him to hit leadoff against southpaws, while Moniak hits atop the lineup against right-handers. Between second and third base, Rengifo should play regularly for the Halos in 2024, although his modest power and speed makes him a bench bat in deep-mixed fantasy leagues, at best.
