Thu Jul 316:24Trent Grisham, Austin Wells Both Back on Thursday
New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham (hamstring) and catcher Austin Wells (finger) are both back in the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays and right-hander Chris Bassitt. Grisham is in center field and batting leadoff, while Wells is catching and in the eight-hole. Grisham is back after missing the last two games with tightness in his left hamstring. The Yankees initially thought that the 28-year-old was going to need a trip to the injured list, but that won't be the case now. Wells missed four straight games with arterial damage in his left index finger, but he's also feeling good enough to return to the lineup. Grisham has hit .182 with a solo home run in 11 career at-bats against Bassitt, while Wells has a .250 average in eight career at-bats against Bassitt.

Wed Jul 217:20Trent Grisham, Austin Wells Still Out for Yankees
New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham (hamstring) and catcher Austin Wells(finger) remain out of the lineup for Wednesday's contest against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays. Cody Bellinger is patrolling center field and is batting third, while Ben Rice will do the catching and hit leadoff versus Blue Jays right-hander Jose Berrios. Grisham is missing a second straight game with a left-hamstring injury, but he's hopeful to avoid a trip to the injured list before the All-Star break. He's just two homers away from tying his career-high but has slowed down considerably since earlier this season at the plate. Wells is dealing with arterial damage to his left index finger and will miss his fourth straight game. It's entirely possible that both Grisham and Wells will land on the IL if they don't improve soon and get back into the lineup. Both Rice and Bellinger are fine DFS plays on Wednesday against Berrios.

Tue Jul 113:10Trent Grisham Likely Heading to Injured List
MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports that New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham (hamstring) is likely heading for a stint on the injured list. Hoch also notes that outfielder Bryan De La Cruz is in Toronto with the team. Grisham was forced from Monday's loss to the Blue Jays early when he felt tightness in his left hamstring. It's unfortunate timing with the looming All-Star break, but New York has plenty of outfield options to slot into the lineup in his stead. Teammate Cody Bellinger will get the nod in center field on Tuesday and bat second with Jasson Dominguez covering left-field duties and operating from the six-hole. Grisham has cooled significantly since a hot April (.284) to hit .227 over the previous two months.UPDATE: Grisham is hoping to avoid the IL and is going through a pre-game workout on Tuesday. Bryan De La Cruz is on the taxi squad in case Grisham eventually is placed on the IL, according to manager Aaaron Boone.

Mon Jun 3021:12Trent Grisham Exits With Hamstring Tightness
New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham (hamstring) left Monday's game in the bottom of the fifth inning with hamstring tightness, reports Bryan Hoch of MLB.com. Jasson Dominguez replaced him in the lineup in left field, with Cody Bellinger shifting to center. Prior to the injury, Grisham was 1-for-2 with a single, so it's possible that the hamstring became an issue while he was running the bases. Expect further updates on the severity of the injury after the game. Hopefully it remains a day-to-day issue for the 28-year-old rather than requiring a trip to the injured list, as he's in the midst of a career-best season. He is slashing .246/.348/.467 with 15 home runs and regularly leads off for the Yankees.

Tue Jun 1715:31Ben Rice, Trent Grisham Out on Tuesday
New York Yankees first baseman/designated hitter Ben Rice and outfielder Trent Grisham will both start on the bench for Tuesday's contest against the visiting Los Angeles Angels in the Bronx. Paul Goldschmidt is back at first base and is hitting sixth, while Cody Bellinger will shift to center field and hit third against Angels right-hander Kyle Hendricks. Goldschmidt was the odd man out on Monday in Giancarlo Stanton's first game of the season, but Rice will take a seat in the second game of the series. Rice's bat belongs in the lineup more often than not, but he will inevitably lose some playing time with Stanton back in the fold. Bellinger has only faced Hendricks three times in his career and has one hit off of him. Goldy, meanwhile, is hitting .269 against Hendricks with a .751 OPS and three RBI in 52 career at-bats.

Sat May 3108:38Trent Grisham Homers, Drives in Two on Friday
New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham went 2-for-5 on Friday, belting his 13th home run of the year and collecting two RBI in an 8-5 loss to the Dodgers. The former first-round draft pick is in the midst of a career year, hitting .259 with a .386 wOBA and a 152 wRC+. The left-handed slugger is on pace to easily blow past his previous career high of 17 home runs and has been one of the better fantasy waiver wire pickups so far in 2025. The 28-year-old is posting a career low strikeout rate of 21.0 percent with a career high 82.2 percent contact rate and barrel rate with a BABIP in line with career norms, so all signs point to him continuing to perform.

Tue May 1307:08Trent Grisham Goes Yard Twice In Yankees Win
New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham had a big night on Monday night, smashing a pair of home runs and going 3-for-6 with two runs scored and two RBI on his pair of solo blasts. His first long ball came in the third inning and his second in the fifth inning, both off Seattle's starter Emerson Hancock. With the two home runs, Grisham is now hitting .288 with 12 homers and an impressive .440 wOBA in his first 34 games of the season. He already has more home runs than he had last year and is on pace for the best season of his career by a wide margin. Grisham has flashed the potential for this kind of production in the past, but has never been able to put it all together until this season. If he's still available in your league, he's a great waiver wire option, especially if he keeps leading off against right-handed starting pitchers.

Tue May 606:04Trent Grisham Homers Monday
New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham went 1-for-3 with a two-run homer and a walk in a 4-3 loss to the San Diego Padres on Monday. Grisham lifted his ninth homer of the season off New York starter Nick Pivetta in the third inning to give his team an early 2-0 lead. The veteran is putting together a strong start to the season for the Yankees, hitting .298 with nine homers, 17 runs, and 17 RBI across 84 at-bats. Grisham will look to continue his early-season success after hitting just nine homers in 76 games for New York last season. He's worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues while he's having success at the plate.

Thu Apr 2412:42Trent Grisham Activated From Paternity List
New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham was activated from the paternity list prior to their contest on Friday against the Toronto Blue Jays. The outfielder was held out of action during their entire three-game set against the Cleveland Guardians at the start of the week. However, Grisham will be back in action for their weekend series in the Bronx against the Blue Jays. Grisham has enjoyed a productive start to the campaign, holding a stellar .320/.393/.700 slash line with two doubles and six long balls. Grisham has tallied 13 RBI and scored 12 runs. Even though he may occasionally sit against southpaws, he appears to have a significant role in the Yankee lineup, given his hot start. Fantasy managers should expect the 28-year-old to return to the starting nine on Friday to face Toronto right-hander Jose Berrios.

Mon Apr 2115:50Trent Grisham Placed On Paternity List
The New York Yankees placed outfielder Trent Grisham on the paternity list prior to Monday's series opener in Cleveland against the Guardians. Infield prospect Jorbit Vivas was recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a corresponding move. Grisham will most likely miss the entire three-game series against the Guardians this week before most likely rejoining the team for Friday's series opener in the Bronx against the division-rival Toronto Blue Jays. After hitting under .200 each of the previous three seasons with the Yankees and San Diego Padres, Grisham has been playing well above expectations in the first 20 games of the 2025 season in New York, slashing .320/.393/.700 with a 1.093 OPS, six home runs and 13 RBI in 56 plate appearances as the team's fourth outfielder. The 28-year-old is already three homers shy of his total from 2024.

Sat Apr 521:00Trent Grisham Blasts Two Homers
New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham had his power bat working for him during Saturday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Grisham took left-hander Bailey Falter deep in the third inning. He followed that up with a three-run shot off Falter in the fifth inning. Grisham has been on fire lately considering he's 6-for-11 at the plate across his last three games. During that span, Grisham has three homers and seven RBI, so fantasy managers should play him while he's hot at the plate.

Fri Apr 405:54Trent Grisham Homers In Win On Thursday
New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham had a big night in a 9-7 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday. Grisham went 3-for-4 with a double, a homer, and three RBI to help lead New York to the win. Grisham's homer was a two-run blast off Arizona starter Merrill Kelly in the third inning while his other RBI came on a double in the first inning. The veteran outfielder has been swinging a hot bat in limited playing time for the Yankees this season as he has five hits in 10 at-bats thus far. He will look to stay hot as the Yankees open up a weekend series against the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Sun Feb 1616:50Trent Grisham Held Back By Hamstring Issue
New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham (hamstring) is currently behind schedule due to injury, according to manager Aaron Boone. The organization didn't comment on the severity of the issue, so fantasy managers will need to check back for that information. For now, Grisham is day-to-day and will just get a late start to spring training along with Giancarlo Stanton (elbow) who is also sidelined right now. When healthy, Grisham will probably be the fourth outfielder in New York. Grisham is coming off a rough 2024 season and hasn't been able to hit his weight in a few seasons. Despite that, Grisham does normally draw walks and plays above average defense. He's unlikely to be a valuable fantasy asset until he can improve at the plate.

Sat Nov 23 202413:12Yankees Avoid Arbitration With Trent Grisham, JT Brubaker
The New York Yankees avoided salary arbitration with outfielder Trent Grisham and right-hander JT Brubaker (oblique) by agreeing to one-year deals on Friday. Grisham, 28, will earn $5 million in his second season in the Bronx. The 28-year-old left-handed hitter saw his fantasy stock drop considerably in pinstripes in 2024, as he was essentially the team's fourth outfielder. The former first-rounder hit a disappointing .190/.290/.385 with a .675 OPS, nine home runs, 31 RBI, one steal and 21 runs scored in 179 regular-season at-bats. Depending on what the Yankees do in free agency this offseason, Grisham could have a path to a bigger role in 2025, but at best, he'll likely be in some sort of platoon in the outfield against right-handed pitching. Grisham is mostly useful for his glove at this point in his career and isn't anything more than a bench bat in AL-only leagues.

Mon Jul 15 202412:12Trent Grisham Picks Up Three Hits, Homers On Sunday
New York Yankees outfielder Trent Grisham had a nice day at the plate in Sunday's 6-5 loss to the division-rival Baltimore Orioles, going 3-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two RBI and two runs scored. The home run was Grisham's sixth of the season in his first year in the Bronx after being acquired by the Yankees from the San Diego Padres as part of the Juan Soto deal. The 27-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder has been playing more regularly of late with Giancarlo Stanton (hamstring) on the injured list, as it has allowed center fielder Aaron Judge to take over designated hitter duties more often. Despite Grisham's strong performance to close out the first half of the season on Sunday, he's still hitting just .195/.301/.389 with a .690 OPS and will return to being a fourth outfielder for the Bombers when Stanton returns to the active roster.

Wed Dec 6 202323:23Yankees Complete Trade To Acquire Juan Soto, Trent Grisham
The New York Yankees have completed a blockbuster trade on Wednesday night to acquire outfielders Juan Soto and Trent Grisham from the San Diego Padres in exchange for right-handed pitchers Michael King, Drew Thorpe, Jhony Brito, and Randy Vasquez, and catcher Kyle Higashioka. The 25-year-old left-handed-hitting Soto will head to the Bronx and join slugger Aaron Judge in the middle of the Yankees' lineup as they look to get back to the postseason in 2024. Now the question will becomes, will the Yankees lock Soto up to a massive long-term contract extension to keep him around past the 2024 campaign? Soto hit .275 with a career-high 35 homers, 109 RBI and an MLB-leading 132 walks last season for the Padres, and it's not crazy to think his numbers at Yankee Stadium will improve. Grisham, after hitting under .200 in 2023, will become a fourth outfielder/defensive replacement in pinstripes.

Wed Dec 6 202316:13Trent Grisham Expected To Be Shipped To Yankees
Only medicals and minor details remain as the New York Yankees look to acquire outfielder Juan Soto from the San Diego Padres, and a deal is expected to be done fairly soon. Once the deal is complete, the Yankees will also receive outfielder Trent Grisham to back up their revamped started outfield of Soto, Aaron Judge and Alex Verdugo. The Padres are expected to receive pitchers Michael King, Drew Thorpe, Jhony Brito and Randy Vasquez and catcher Kyle Higashioka in return in this blockbuster deal. The 27-year-old Grisham will become a fourth outfielder for the Yankees if the trade is completed after hitting under .200 with 13 home runs, 50 RBI, 15 stolen bases and 154 strikeouts in 555 trips to the plate over 153 games played.

Tue Aug 15 202318:16Trent Grisham Sitting Out On Tuesday
San Diego Padres outfielder Trent Grisham is absent from Tuesday's starting lineup versus the Baltimore Orioles. Normally, Grisham is in there against right-handed starters, but it appears he'll get a rest day here. Instead, Ben Gamel will cover right field and bat ninth versus right-hander Jack Flaherty. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups accordingly with Grisham on the bench. The expectation is that he'll return after this rest day.

Mon Jun 5 202321:14Trent Grisham Scratched Monday
San Diego Padres outfielder Trent Grisham (back) was scratched from his team's lineup ahead of a Monday night matchup against the Chicago Cubs. Grisham is dealing with back spasms, which will hold him out of the series opener against the Cubs. The Padres will turn to Fernando Tatis Jr. in center field while Brandon Dixon will play right. Stay tuned to see if Grisham is able to return to action by Tuesday.

Tue May 30 202323:53Trent Grisham Gets Two Hits, Steals A Few Bags
San Diego Padres outfielder Trent Grisham went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases and a run scored as the team ran away late from the Miami Marlins 9-4 on Tuesday. The southpaw has always shown reverse platoon splits, but Grisham got his knocks versus righties in this one. The center fielder is especially victimizing left-handed pitching for a 317/.429/.585 slash line in 41 at-bats this year. Grisham is a regular player for the Friars, but the two-time Gold Glover is mostly in there for his defensive acumen. The 26-year-old is hitting just .196 with five home runs, 14 RBI, and three stolen bases on 168 at-bats this season. Grisham draws walks at a high 15% clip, but he is not worth rostering in fantasy outside of the deepest of leagues.
