Tue Jun 2417:32Mike Tauchman Back in White Sox's Lineup
Chicago White Sox outfielder Mike Tauchman (groin) is serving as the designated hitter and batting leadoff for the team on Tuesday against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Ryne Nelson. A groin injury kept Tauchman sidelined for the last four games, but he's back in there now and will hit atop the batting order for the Pale Hose. Due to injuries in 2025, the 34-year-old veteran left-handed slugger has just 97 at-bats on the season, and he's hitting .258 with four home runs, 14 RBI and 17 runs scored to barely move the needle in deep fantasy formats. Tauchman hasn't been nearly as good in the month of June, going 11-for-58 (.190) with three home runs, two doubles, a triple, nine RBI and 17 strikeouts in 67 plate appearances over 17 games. He hasn't had a multi-hit game since June 1. In three career at-bats against Nelson, Tauchman has a hit and one RBI.

Tue Jun 2409:59Mike Tauchman Still Dealing with Groin Injury
Chicago White Sox outfielder Mike Tauchman (groin) missed a fourth straight game on Monday, although manager Will Venable said that the 34-year-old lefty would take batting practice before the game and could be available off the bench. The White Sox were blown out on Monday against Arizona and lefty Eduardo Rodriguez and did not end up calling on Tauchman, but it seems like the lefty could be back in the mix on Tuesday against righty Ryne Nelson. Tauchman is hitting .258 with four homers and a .362 wOBA in his 28 games for the White Sox, and they'll hope he can get back in action soon.

Sun Jun 2212:58Mike Tauchman Still Out on Sunday
Chicago White Sox outfielder Mike Tauchman (groin) remains out of the starting nine on Sunday when the White Sox conclude a series against the Toronto Blue Jays. The outfielder has been held out of action over the past two games. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he may miss additional time during the start of the week. This afternoon, the White Sox will give Michael A. Taylor the starting nod in right field. He will bat in the nine hole. Tauchman has been productive across his limited 28-game stint this season. During this stretch, Tauchman has held a .258/.365/.464 line with four long balls. The White Sox are best to fade in DFS facing Toronto right-hander Chris Bassitt.

Sat Jun 2112:50Mike Tauchman Remains Out on Saturday
Chicago White Sox outfielder Mike Tauchman (groin) remains out of the starting nine on Saturday when the White Sox continue a series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Tauchman was held out of action on Friday as well. The outfielder suffered this injury during Thursday's game. Before his injury, Tauchman held a modest .192/.242/323 line with a double, home run, and a 10:2 K:BB over his last nine games. This afternoon, the White Sox will give Austin Slater the starting nod. Slater will cover right field and will bat in the eight-hole. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Tauchman as he may need a stint on the injured list if this injury continues to linger. The White Sox are worth a look in DFS facing Toronto right-hander Jose Berrios, who holds a 3.81 ERA.

Fri Jun 2009:10Mike Tauchman Day-To-Day With a Groin Injury
Chicago White Sox outfielder Mike Tauchman (groin) did not start in the second game of their doubleheader on Thursday, and according to Will Venable, Tauchman reported some right groin soreness. He'll be evaluated now, and it'll be day to day, Scott Merkin, White Sox beat writer, reports. Although Tachman did not start game two of the doubleheader, he did enter the game as a pinch hitter and went 1-for-1 with an RBI and a run, suggesting that his injury isn't anything too serious. In Tauchman's absence, Austin Slater was slotted in the outfield to roam right field. Tauchman has enjoyed a decent season so far, slashing .258/.365/.464 with four home runs, 14 RBI, and 17 runs scored. He remains a decent outfield option for deeper leagues that require five outfield spots.

Fri May 2317:18Andrew Benintendi, Mike Tauchman Reinstated From Injured List
The Chicago White Sox announced on Friday that they reinstated both outfielders Andrew Benintendi (calf) and Mike Tauchman (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielders Andrew Vaughn and Tim Elko to Triple-A Charlotte in corresponding moves. Benintendi is serving as the designated hitter and is batting cleanup, while Tauchman is in right field and hitting in the two-hole for Friday's series opener versus the visiting Texas Rangers and right-hander Tyler Mahle. Both Benintendi and Tauchman offer mild power appeal for fantasy managers in deeper leagues searching for outfield depth, and they should both play regularly for the Pale Hose moving forward against right-handed pitching. Austin Slater and Michael Taylor are the two outfielders in Chicago that will probably be hurt the most by the return of both Benintendi and Tauchman.

Fri May 1614:13Mike Tauchman Not Expected Back This Weekend
The Chicago White Sox do not expect outfielder Mike Tauchman (hamstring) to come off the 10-day injured list to rejoin the team this weekend during their three-game series at Wrigley Field against his former team, the Chicago White Sox, according to the Daily Herald's Mike McGraw. The White Sox are going to give him more time to ramp up after his second right-hamstring strain of the season. The 34-year-old veteran isn't going to be rushed back, but it's possible that he'll be back at some point next week after already playing in four minor-league rehab games. When he's healthy, Tauchman will have value in AL-only affairs as the team's likely starting right fielder against right-handed pitching. Before his second hammy injury, Tauchman had gone 4-for-10 in a small sample size in 2025 with a run scored in three games.

Thu May 814:54Mike Tauchman To Begin Rehab Assignment On Saturday
Chicago White Sox outfielder Mike Tauchman (hamstring) is set to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Charlotte on Saturday. Tauchman has been held out of action since early April with a Grade 2 hamstring strain. Given the time he missed, Tauchman may need a somewhat lengthy rehab assignment. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status as he increases his workload. Before his injury, the 34-year-old tallied four hits and held a 2:2 K:BB over his first three games of the campaign. When he is cleared to return, fantasy managers should expect Tauchman to be the everyday left fielder on the Southside. Last summer, Tauchman spent his season with the Cubs and held a .248/.357/.366 slash line with 12 doubles and seven long balls. Given his everyday role, he will have value in deeper AL-only formats.

Fri Apr 1117:47Mike Tauchman Dealing With Grade 2 Hamstring Strain
Chicago White Sox general manager Chris Getz said that outfielder Mike Tauchman (hamstring) has been diagnosed with a Grade 2 right-hamstring strain and will likely be out for a "couple weeks." Tauchman was placed on the 10-day injured list on Thursday for already the second time this year, but this time the White Sox will give him more time to heal up. The 34-year-old left-handed-hitting veteran should return in at least the strong side of a platoon in left field for Chicago when he's cleared, but he should be expected to miss the rest of April. Despite his bum hamstring, Tauchman went 4-for-10 with a run scored in his first three games with the Pale Hose. In the meantime, expect the White Sox to try several players in left field, including Austin Slater, Brooks Baldwin, Joshua Palacios and Michael Taylor. Taylor is in left and is batting sixth on Friday against the Boston Red Sox.

Thu Apr 1012:16Mike Tauchman Goes Back On Injured List
The Chicago White Sox announced on Thursday that they placed outfielder Mike Tauchman (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list due to a right-hamstring strain and recalled outfielder Joshua Palacios from Triple-A Charlotte in a corresponding move. The team also released right-hander Juan Carela. It will be Tauchman's second trip to the IL already this year after beginning the regular season on the shelf due to a right-hamstring strain that he initially suffered in spring training. The 34-year-old veteran returned from the IL on Sunday but quicky aggravated the injury while running the bases on Wednesday and will be forced to miss more time. It's likely that he'll be forced to miss more than 10 days to let his hamstring fully recover. Brooks Baldwin is making the start in left field for Chicago on Thursday against the Guardians, but Michael Taylor and Palacios will also be options there for however long Tauchman is out.

Wed Apr 921:45Mike Tauchman Suffers Hamstring Injury
Chicago White Sox outfielder Mike Tauchman (hamstring) only made it through three games before suffering another injury. Tauchman had a good day at the plate as he went 3-for-4 with three singles during Wednesday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. Sadly, Tauchman pulled his hamstring when he was coming around third base as the tying run in the ninth inning. For now, Tauchman is considered as day-to-day, but it wouldn't be shocking if he ends up on the injured list. His absence could mean more playing time for Austin Slater or Michael A. Taylor in the corner outfield.

Sun Apr 613:01Mike Tauchman Activated And Starting On Sunday
Chicago White Sox outfielder Mike Tauchman (hamstring) was activated off the injured list on Sunday and will be given the starting nod in right field in their contest against the Detroit Tigers. Tauchman will bat in the leadoff spot. The 34-year-old suffered this injury during spring training and is set to make his White Sox debut this afternoon. Tauchman has spent the past two seasons playing for the Chicago Cubs. Last season, Tauchman appeared in 109 contests for the Cubs and posted a .248/.357/.366 slash line with 12 doubles and seven round-trippers. He tallied 29 RBI and scored 50 runs. He drew walks at an elite 13.4 percent rate, which is likely why the White Sox are providing him the opportunity to bat at the top of the order. He is worth a look in DFS as a value play facing rookie right-hander Jackson Jobe, who struggled in his first start of the campaign.

Tue Apr 121:47Mike Tauchman Begins Rehab Assignment
Chicago White Sox outfielder Mike Tauchman (hamstring) began his rehab assignment in Triple-A Charlotte, reports Scott Merkin of MLB.com. He suffered a strained hamstring during spring training but is eligible to be activated off of the injured list on Friday. He slashed .248/.357/.366 with seven home runs and six stolen bases in 109 games for the Cubs in 2024. While he's not the most exciting player for fantasy, he should see a lot of playing time for the White Sox and should deliver a high OBP. He posted a 13.4% walk rate (98th percentile) last season, so he could be useful in deep AL-only formats.

Mon Dec 9 202423:43White Sox Agree With Mike Tauchman
The Chicago White Sox agreed to terms on an undisclosed deal with free-agent outfielder Mike Tauchman on Monday evening, according to a source. Tauchman will head across town in Chicago after spending the last two seasons with the Cubs, where he hit .250/.360/.372 with a .732 OPS, 15 home runs, 77 RBI, 13 stolen bases and 114 runs scored in 217 games. He hit .248/.357/.366 with seven long balls, 29 RBI, six steals and 50 runs in 109 games in 2024, mostly in right field for the Cubbies. The 34-year-old has experience at all three outfield spots, though, and should at least be in position to earn part-time playing time. While Tauchman hits from the left side, he's had similar success against righties and lefties in his career. Most of the veteran's value comes as a fourth outfielder/DH type, but more playing time should be available with the Pale Hose.

Sat Nov 23 202419:37Mike Tauchman Non-Tendered By Chicago
According to Meghan Montemurro of the Chicago Tribune, the Chicago Cubs have non-tendered outfielder Mike Tauchman, which will send him to free agency. Tauchman spent the past two seasons operating on the Northside and held a .250/.360/.372 line across his time there. This past summer, the 33-year-old carried a .248 AVG with seven long balls and six stolen bases. Under the hood, he held a stellar 13.4% walk rate and slightly above average .330 xwOBA. Fantasy managers should expect the veteran to find a new home, serving as a fourth outfielder, and have a chance to see starting opportunities in center field. With his departure, fantasy managers should closely monitor the team's No. 2 prospect, Owen Caissie, during Spring Training, as he could have a clear path to a full-time role in 2025.

Fri Sep 20 202421:19Mike Tauchman Hits Go-Ahead Two-Run Single To Give Cubs The Win
Chicago Cubs outfielder Mike Tauchman dealt a decisive blow to the Nationals on Friday as he hit a pinch-hit, two-run single to give the Cubs the lead and ultimately the win in their 3-1 victory over Washington. It was Tauchman's only at-bat of the game and moved him to 26 RBI on the season. The 33-year-old has had a solid season at the plate for the Cubs, hitting for a 100 OPS+. Unfortunately his role has been relegated to a pinch-hitter role throughout September, seeing his starts on the season minimize as the Cubs' roster got healthy. There may be a chance, however, that with the season winding down and the Cubs out of contention that he could get some starts while Chicago's mainstays rest. If that's the case, it would make Tauchman a very intriguing DFS play. He is likely too risky to add to any fantasy rosters currently, but should he start any games to finish the season DFS managers should look his way.

Fri Jul 19 202412:05Cubs Activate Mike Tauchman From Injured List
The Chicago Cubs activated outfielder Mike Tauchman (groin) from the 10-day injured list on Friday and optioned outfielder Alexander Canario to Triple-A Iowa in a corresponding move. Although Tauchman is now back with the Cubs for the start of the second half of the season, he will start on the bench in Friday's series opener versus the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks. The 33-year-old left-handed slugger is now back after missing a month with a left-groin strain. He was playing pretty regularly against right-handed pitching before his injury and should continue to do so, at least while outfielder Cody Bellinger (finger) is on the IL. As long as he remains on the strong side of a platoon for the Cubs, Tauchman is useful for outfield depth in deeper fantasy leagues. He'll return to a .259/.359/.382 slash line with five homers, 19 RBI, five steals and 38 runs scored in 220 at-bats.

Tue Jul 16 202412:23Mike Tauchman Begins Rehab Assignment On Monday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Mike Tauchman (groin) started his minor-league rehab assignment on Monday in the Arizona Complex League and went 0-for-2 with a strikeout while playing right field. It remains to be seen if Tauchman will be ready to come off the 10-day injured list to rejoin Chicago's big-league roster when the second half of the season starts on Friday, but if he's not, he should return early in the second half, barring a setback. The 33-year-old left-handed slugger has been sidelined nearly a month with a left-groin strain but is getting closer to returning to the big leagues. When healthy, he should play regularly for the Cubbies in the outfield or at designated hitter against right-handed pitching. Before his injury, he was hitting .259 (57-for-220) with five homers, 19 RBI and five stolen bases in 256 plate appearances and 66 games in his second year with the Cubs.

Thu Jun 6 202400:53Mike Tauchman Walks It Off Against White Sox
Chicago Cubs outfielder Mike Tauchman capped off the team's comeback win against the crosstown-rival Chicago White Sox on Wednesday, walking it off with his fifth home run of 2024. Tauchman hit the walk-off homer to center field off struggling White Sox closer Michael Kopech on Wednesday, giving the Cubs a 6-5 victory in the ninth inning. The versatile 33-year-old veteran has settled in as Chicago's primary leadoff man against right-handed pitching this year, slashing a respectable .269/.372/.414 with five round-trippers, 18 RBI, 36 runs scored, and four stolen bags over 218 plate appearances. Tauchman is worth considering as an option for fantasy managers in NL-only settings.

Thu May 16 202410:48Mike Tauchman Hits Fourth Home Run
Chicago Cubs outfielder Mike Tauchman went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 7-1 win over the Braves. Tauchman's homer set the tone of the game early, as it came on the first pitch of the game off Braves starter Charlie Morton. The 33-year-old had a solid start to the season, hitting .307 in April with three of his four home runs coming during the month, but so far is hitting just .208 in May. He's still making good contact (80.8% Contact%), walking a lot (16.0% BB%), and his 26 runs scored puts him just one behind the likes of Freddie Freeman (27), so hopefully this is just a cold spell for him and Wednesday's homer gets him back on track.
