Sun Sep 14 | 14:42 | Nolan Arenado to Return on Monday |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) is set to rejoin the team ahead of the game against the Cincinnati Reds on Monday. Arenado appears ready to return after playing in a pair of games at Double-A Springfield. The veteran slugger has been sidelined since early August due to a right shoulder strain. The assumption is that he'll be activated and in the starting lineup on Monday. Fantasy managers should check back for official confirmation ahead of Monday's game. The 34-year-old offers enough upside to warrant rostering in most fantasy formats. |

Sat Sep 6 | 14:19 | Nolan Arenado to Begin Rehab Assignment on Sept. 9 |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) will start a minor-league rehab assignment with Double-A Springfield on Sept. 9. Arenado, shelved since Aug. 1 with a strained right shoulder, could return for the final couple of weeks of the season. Thanks to both Arenado's injury and a decline in performance, this has been the worst season of the 34-year-old's decorated career since his rookie campaign in 2013. The eight-time All-Star has put together a subpar .235/.294/.366 line with 10 homers, 43 RBI, and 43 runs scored over 96 games and 394 plate appearances. Before sitting out all of August, Arenado played in 16 games in July and went an unsightly 10-for-57 (.175) with two RBI. |

Mon Sep 1 | 18:28 | Nolan Arenado Nearing Rehab Assignment |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) is expected to join the team on Wednesday. After that, Arenado will have his injured right shoulder examined by a doctor on Thursday. If everything goes well, Arenado could be cleared to work out with the team ahead of Thursday's contest. The next step would be for Arenado to go on a minor league rehab assignment. Arenado has been sidelined since late July due to a right shoulder strain. The hope is that Arenado can return to the Cardinals lineup by mid-September. Fantasy managers should check back throughout the week for another update on his status. |

Thu Aug 28 | 14:32 | Nolan Arenado Returning to St. Louis to Have Shoulder Examined |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder), who has been rehabbing in Jupiter, Fla., will return to St. Louis in the coming days to have his right shoulder examined by team doctors, according to manager Oliver Marmol. After that, a determination will be made about a minor-league rehab assignment and a possible return to the big leagues. Arenado is in the early stages of a throwing program, but it's unclear exactly when he might be able to return to the Cardinals. Fantasy managers shouldn't be expecting much if the 34-year-old veteran is able to return this year. The eight-time All-Star is still excellent on defense at third base, but his power numbers continue to drop and he's currently slashing just .235/.294/.366 with a career-worst .660 OPS and only 10 homers in 96 games. Nolan Gorman will continue to pick up starts at third in St. Louis with Arenado out. |

Thu Aug 28 | 09:07 | Nolan Arenado Starts Throwing Program |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) started hitting earlier this week and has now also begun the early stages of his throwing program in Jupiter, Florida, according to manager Oli Marmol. The veteran has been sidelined since July 30 and was having a very rough year prior to the injury. In 96 games, his triple-slash dropped to .235/.294/.366 with 10 home runs and 43 RBI. While he does still have a little pop in his bat, he remains without a timetable for his return, and he isn't someone who deserves a roster spot in standard mixed leagues. He does seem to be working his way back, though, so he has not closed the book on this season just yet. He has two years remaining on his contract with the Cards and isn't scheduled to hit the open market until 2028. |

Tue Aug 26 | 01:01 | Nolan Arenado Started Hitting Program, Eying Throwing Program |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) has begun a hitting program and will start a throwing program during the week, per the Athletic's Katie Woo. The veteran was placed on the 10-day injured list on August 1 with a right shoulder strain. The 34-year-old has seen a decline in fantasy production this season, slashing .235/.294/.366 with 10 home runs and 43 RBI in 394 plate appearances. He has also seen a decline in his defense after winning 10 Gold Glove Awards in his career. Arenado is currently without a timetable for his return, although fantasy managers may not necessarily want to rely on him down the stretch whenever he does return. |

Wed Aug 20 | 18:42 | Nolan Arenado Likely to Begin Hitting This Week |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) is hopeful to resume hitting as early as Thursday or Friday. Arenado has been rehabbing a right shoulder injury that has kept him sidelined basically all of August. It doesn't sound like he's on the verge of returning, but swinging the bat is a good sign. He'll likely still need a rehab assignment before returning to the Cardinals lineup. That being said, Arenado probably won't be back until some point in September. If possible, fantasy managers should continue to hold Arenado on their IR until he's ready to return. |

Tue Aug 19 | 12:45 | Nolan Arenado to Meet With Team Doctors |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) will rejoin the club in Miami on Tuesday, but he's not ready to come off the 10-day injured list. Arenado, who has been rehabbing from a right-shoulder strain at the Cardinals' spring training complex in Florida, is set to meet with team doctors to get a clearer picture of his recovery timeline. The eight-time All-Star went on the IL on Aug. 1 after slumping to a .235/.294/.366 line with 10 homers, 43 RBI, and 43 runs scored in 394 plate appearances. Arenado ranks in the league's 15th percentile or worse in hard-hit rate, average exit velocity, and xwOBA, which doesn't provide much hope for a turnaround if he does come back this year. |

Sun Aug 10 | 14:38 | Nolan Arenado Unlikely to Return During Road Trip |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) reported to the team's spring training complex in Florida to begin rehabbing. The veteran slugger is expected to be in Jupiter for the next 10 days before resuming baseball activities. That being said, Arenado is unlikely to return to the Cardinals lineup during the upcoming road trip from August 18-24. There isn't a clear timetable on Arenado's return, but it's expected to be later in August. The Cardinals figure to continue using a committee approach to fill out third base. |

Thu Aug 7 | 12:55 | Nolan Arenado Could Rejoin Cardinals on Aug. 18 |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) is "likely" to come off the 10-day injured list and rejoin the team Aug. 18, John Denton of MLB.com reports. In the meantime, Arenado will report to the team's Florida-based spring training facility on Friday to work on strengthening his injured right shoulder. Arenado began dealing with shoulder pain in July, though he didn't go on the 10-day injured list until Aug. 1. Thanks in part to his shoulder issues, Arenado posted a miserable .440 OPS in 16 games in July. Overall, the eight-time All-Star, 34, has slumped through arguably the worst season of his career. Arenado has hit just .235/.294/.366 with 10 homers, 43 RBI, and 43 runs scored across 394 plate appearances. |

Wed Aug 6 | 16:14 | Nolan Arenado Could Begin Rehab Assignment Soon |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) will report to Jupiter, Fla., to start a minor-league rehab assignment on Friday, according to manager Oliver Marmol. The Cardinals think that after Arenado's shoulder strengthens, he could play in games soon in the rookie-level Florida Complex League. The 34-year-old veteran is on the 10-day injured with right-shoulder soreness, and there's no timetable for his return at this moment. However, if he's able to begin a rehab assignment next week, he should be back with St. Louis before the end of August, barring a setback. In the meantime, Nolan Gorman has been filling in as the team's primary option at the hot corner. Arenado continues to be excellent with his glove on defense, but his power numbers have continued to decline in 2025. The eight-time All-Star is hitting a mere .235 (85-for-361) with only 10 bombs and 43 RBI. |

Fri Aug 1 | 14:05 | Nolan Arenado Going on Injured List With Shoulder Injury |
The Athletic's Katie Woo reports that the St. Louis Cardinals will place third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list before Friday's series opener against the San Diego Padres at Petco Park with a right-shoulder injury, according to sources. Arenado has been battling shoulder issues since early July and missed a handful of games to try to avoid the IL and hoped resting during the All-Star break would help. In his last 12 games, the 34-year-old veteran has hit .159/.213/.205 with two extra-base hits and one RBI. The 10-time Gold Glove winner remains excellent on defense, but his season OPS has dropped to .660, and he hasn't homered since June 21. There is no immediate timetable for Arenado's return, and fantasy managers definitely shouldn't feel compelled to hold onto him the rest of the year. Brendan Donovan, Nolan Gorman and Thomas Saggese are all options at 3B. |

Wed Jul 30 | 10:32 | Astros Interested in Carlos Correa, Nolan Arenado, Eugenio Suarez |
On the eve of Thursday's trade deadline, the Houston Astros are showing interest in Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa, St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado, and Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. The most interesting possibility here may be Correa, who began his career in Houston and flourished as a member of the team. Correa, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 draft, debuted with the Astros in 2015. He played with the club through 2021 and took home Rookie of the Year honors, made two All-Star teams, and won a World Series in their uniform before signing with the Twins in free agency. He's now in the fourth season of a six-year, $200 million contract, which looks pricey considering his output in 2025. Correa has batted a pedestrian .267/.319/.386 with seven homers, 31 RBI, and 40 runs scored in his age-30 campaign, and he hasn't gone yard in any of his 20 games this month. Correa has a full no-trade clause, but he still lives in Houston in the offseason and would waive it to return there, according to Nightengale. With that said, the Astros do have an established shortstop in Jeremy Pena (ribs), who should return from the 10-day injured list soon after missing over a month with a small rib fracture. Correa and Pena have exclusively played short in the majors, so the Astros would have to find a way to make that work. It seems likely that Correa would take over at third with ... [ More] |

Mon Jul 21 | 11:37 | Nolan Arenado Unlikely to be Traded |
The St. Louis Cardinals are planning to hold on to third baseman Nolan Arenado through the trade deadline, with "no teams showing strong interest in him," according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Arenado previously rejected trades to both the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Angels, which could be discouraging teams from engaging in trade negotiations with St. Louis. The 34-year-old Arenado is far removed from the player he was at his peak. In 358 plate appearances so far this season, he's slashed .241/.299/.381 with 10 home runs, 42 RBI, and 39 runs scored. His .140 isolated slugging percentage and 4.1% barrel rate both demonstrate his diminished ability to consistently drive the baseball. With two seasons and $37 million remaining for an acquiring team to pay following 2025, there may not be much of a market for Arenado even if he were willing to be moved. |

Fri Jul 18 | 20:31 | Nolan Arenado Ready for Second Half |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (finger) is back in the starting lineup to kick off the second half of the season in Friday's series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Brandon Pfaadt at Chase Field, starting at third base and batting fifth. Arenado is returning after missing the final two games of the first half of the year with a sprained right index finger. The 34-year-old eight-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove winner remains St. Louis' starting third baseman, but he's no longer in the prime of his career and continues to see a drop in his power numbers. Through 84 games in the first half in his fifth year with the Red Birds, Arenado slashed a mediocre .246/.305/.388 with a career-worst .693 OPS, 10 home runs, 42 RBI and 39 runs scored in 347 plate appearances. He has hit .286 with a homer and three RBI in seven career at-bats against Pfaadt. |

Sat Jul 12 | 11:58 | Nolan Arenado Held Out of Lineup on Saturday |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (finger) is not in the lineup for his team's game on Saturday afternoon against the Atlanta Braves. Arenado exited the Cardinals' loss to Atlanta on Friday night with a sprained right index finger so this news comes as no surprise. The veteran has been battling discomfort in the finger for several weeks but has yet to hit the injured list. For the season, Arenado has slashed .246/.305/.388 with 10 home runs and 42 RBI. His strikeout rate is a career-best 9.8%, but his 4.3% barrel rate is underwhelming, as is his .378 xSLG. He's a borderline fantasy option at this point in his career who needs everyday playing time to volume his way to production. |

Sat Jul 12 | 09:43 | Nolan Arenado Exits Friday's Contest With Sprained Finger |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (finger) exited Friday's 6-5 loss to Atlanta with a sprained right index finger. The eight-time All-Star missed a few games recently due to soreness in that same finger, so hopefully this does not become something that lands him on the injured list. Arenado is slashing .246/.305/.388 on the year, and although his strikeout rate is at a career low (9.8 percent), his barrel rate, hard-hit rate, and average exit velocity are also hovering near career lows, so it might not get much better for the remainder of the season. Perhaps an IL stint or even just the All-Star break will get his finger right, though. |

Wed Jul 9 | 16:26 | Nolan Arenado Back in Action for Cardinals |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) is back at third base and will hit fifth on Wednesday against the visiting Washington Nationals and left-hander MacKenzie Gore. Arenado will return to the hot corner after missing the last three games with a right-shoulder impingement. The 34-year-old has been beat up of late, as he also missed a few games last week with a minor finger injury. The matchup isn't a great one for DFS purposes, although Arenado has hit .444 with a home run and five RBI in his career against Gore in nine at-bats. Arenado has been cold offensively of late, going 6-for-28 (.214) with two doubles, two RBI, a run scored, one walk and two strikeouts in eight games played since June 24. He does have 41 RBI in 81 games for St. Louis this year, but Arenado is hitting a modest .248 (76-for-307), and his power (10 homers) continues to dwindle. |

Wed Jul 9 | 10:12 | Nolan Arenado Expected to Return Wednesday |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) plans to return to the lineup on Wednesday against the Washington Nationals, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Arenado hasn't played since he suffered an impingement in his right shoulder last Friday. The 34-year-old explained that hitting caused the injury. "Throwing feels great," he told Guerrero. "I played long toss two days ago on Sunday night, and it felt amazing. Just hitting, kind of going across the body doesn't feel great." Arenado has slashed a modest .244/.304/.391 with 10 home runs and 41 RBI in 336 plate appearances this year. |

Tue Jul 8 | 14:52 | Nolan Arenado Remains Out on Tuesday |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Washington Nationals. Nolan Gorman will take Arenado's place at third and bat fifth versus Nationals right-hander Jake Irvin. Arenado hasn't played since he suffered a right-shoulder impingement in a loss to the Chicago Cubs last Friday. He sat out both of the Cardinals' games over the weekend, but there was optimism that he would return for the start of the Washington series. Instead, Arenado will miss at least one more game. |
