Thu Aug 2805:34Luis Morales Extends Impressive Start to MLB Career
Athletics right-handed pitching prospect Luis Morales continued to impress during his victory over the Detroit Tigers on Wednesday evening. In his fourth MLB start (and fifth MLB appearance), the right-hander logged seven shutout innings with just two hits against one of the top offenses in the sport. In this start, Morales struck out a career-high seven hitters while serving up just two walks. Through his first 22 2/3 innings in the big leagues, the No. 80-ranked prospect in the sport according to MLB.com has posted an elite 1.19 ERA with a 0.97 WHIP. Earlier in the summer, Morales was not as successful at Triple-A, posting a much higher 4.40 ERA with a 1.26 WHIP. Given his near-dominant start to his career, he remains a solid option heading into his next projected start against the St. Louis Cardinals.

Sun Aug 1708:28Luis Morales Earns First Win
Athletics starting pitcher Luis Morales looked sharp on the mound during Saturday's outing against the Los Angeles Angels. The right-hander had mixed results during his first start when he tossed 2.2 scoreless innings, but walked five batters in the process. This time around, Morales was able to locate his pitches much better on the mound. He threw five innings, allowing one run on five hits while striking out five batters to earn his first career win in the MLB. Morales truly has the stuff to be a frontline starter in the league, but still has to work on his command. He figures to continue getting chances down the stretch with this being a lost season for the A's. There's some deep league streaming appeal here with Morales.

Sat Aug 921:53Luis Morales Starting on Sunday
Athletics starting pitcher Luis Morales is scheduled to take the mound for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Orioles. The 22-year-old is set to make his first career start in the big leagues. Morales made one appearance for the A's before this and threw two innings, allowing one earned run on three hits. The expectation is that Morales will have a limited workload on the mound. The right-hander has a tremendous fastball, but control has been an issue for him. There is plenty of long term upside there, but Morales is unlikely to pitch deep into this game. He'll only offer low-end streaming appeal for Sunday's contest.
