Fri Aug 22 | 15:10 | Kyle Karros Back in the Lineup on Friday |
Colorado Rockies rookie infielder Kyle Karros (back) is starting at third base and will hit fifth in Friday's series opener in Pittsburgh against the Pirates and right-hander Braxton Ashcraft. Karros is returning to the starting nine after missing the last two games with back tightness. The 23-year-old son of former big-leaguer Eric Karros will be playing in only his 13th major-league game after recently being called up from the minors leagues. He has handled himself well in the early going and has a nice right-handed power stroke that will receive regular playing time down the stretch as the Rockies play out the string. So far in his first 44 MLB plate appearances, Karros has hit .270 with a home run, three doubles, five RBI, 10 runs scored and a 10:7 K:BB. Fantasy managers in NL-only leagues should be looking to get him back into their starting lineups. |

Thu Aug 21 | 14:06 | Kyle Karros Sitting Out With Back Injury |
Colorado Rockies rookie infielder Kyle Karros (back) is out of the starting lineup for Thursday's series finale against the division-rival Los Angeles Dodgers at Coors Field. Orlando Arcia is starting at the hot corner and will bat eighth against Dodgers left-hander Clayton Kershaw. Back tightness will keep Karros out of action for the second straight day, but hopefully the 23-year-old will be able to return for Friday's series opener in Pittsburgh against the Pirates. The son of former Dodgers first baseman Eric Karros has held his own in his first 37 big-league at-bats for the last-place Rockies, recording 10 hits, a homer, five RBI and 10 runs scored. With the Rockies yet again playing out the string in the second half, Karros should continue to see regular playing time if he can get over his back injury. Arcia is a light-hitting infielder who has gone 2-for-10 in his career against Kershaw. |

Thu Aug 14 | 06:26 | Kyle Karros Continues to Impress in Colorado |
Colorado Rockies third base prospect Kyle Karros has looked quite strong since joining the MLB roster earlier in August. Through his first six games in the major leagues, Karros has posted a .333/.417/.476 slash line with three doubles and a 4:3 K:BB. On Wednesday, Karros scored an impressive three runs and posted his second multi-hit game of his MLB career. Before earning the call earlier in August, Karros was considered the No. 8-ranked prospect in the system on MLB.com. He spent the first half of the season split between Double-A and Triple-A. With Double-A, he held a .294/.399/.462 line. Through a short 16-game stint with Triple-A, Karros continued to hit, posting a .206/.368/.500 slash line. Given his steady production, he is worth a look in all 12-team leagues as he seems to have earned a starting job in the Colorado lineup. |

Sat Aug 9 | 07:22 | Kyle Karros Knocks RBI Single in MLB Debut |
Colorado Rockies third base prospect Kyle Karros wasted little time to make an impact in his MLB debut on Friday evening. In his first at-bat, the third baseman knocked an RBI single. This hit scored infielder Warming Bernabel. He also drew a walk later in the contest. The Rockies promoted Karros before Friday's game once they shifted shortstop Orlando Arcia (elbow) to the 10-day injured list. Earlier in the season, the UCLA product spent most of his time with Double-A before earning a brief taste of Triple-A. At Triple-A, Karros needed just 16 games to prove he was ready for the majors. During this stretch, he posted a .306/.368/.500 line with four doubles and two home runs. With Arcia sidelined and Ryan McMahon now in the Bronx, Karros could carve out a prominent role in the near future. |

Fri Aug 8 | 18:59 | Kyle Karros Promoted and Starting on Friday |
Colorado Rockies infield prospect Kyle Karros is being promoted to the major league roster prior to their contest against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday evening. In addition, Karros is slated to cover the hot corner and bat in the eight-hole. The 23-year-old is currently considered the No. 8-ranked prospect in the Colorado system on MLB.com. The former fifth-round pick out of UCLA opened the campaign with Double-A but needed only 55 games to prove he was ready to join the top ranks of the Colorado system. Through a short 16-game stint with Albuquerque, Karros posted a stellar .306/.368/.500 slash line with four doubles, one triple, two home runs, and a 12:5 K:BB. He is a name to monitor for now, as he could carve out an everyday role on a Colorado team that recently traded third baseman Ryan McMahon to the New York Yankees. |

Sat Apr 5 | 07:51 | Kyle Karros Goes Deep Twice In Double-A Debut |
Colorado Rockies infield prospect Kyle Karros went 3-for-5 with two home runs during his Double-A debut on Friday. Karros wasted little time as he launched a solo shot in the opening frame in his first Double-A at-bat. Later in the ninth inning, Karros would hit his second-tripper in walk-off fashion. The UCLA product spent the entire 2024 campaign with High-A Spokane and has already looked quite comfortable against tougher competition. In 123 games with High-A, Karros posted a strong .311/.390/.485 slash line with 33 doubles and 15 home runs. He held a 54:123 BB:K and swiped 12 bags. He is a name to continue to monitor as he could receive a taste of Triple-A later in the summer if he continues to develop at this rate. |
