Wed Sep 1712:41Kyle Tucker's Progress has "Plateaued"
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (calf) is seeking additional, outside treatment for an injured left calf that has "plateaued," manager Craig Counsell said. Tucker is dealing with a strain that has kept him out since Sept. 2, and he has not recovered as quickly as anticipated. It's now in question whether the 28-year-old will be able to make it back before the regular season ends. The Cubs are close to securing a wild-card spot, giving them little incentive to rush Tucker back before October. While Tucker did endure a severe slump earlier this summer, he has been a key contributor to the team's success this season. The four-time All-Star has slashed .270/.381/.472 with 22 homers, 73 RBI, 89 runs scored, and 25 stolen bases across 133 games and 585 plate appearances. Willi Castro and Seiya Suzuki have gotten most of the playing time in right field in Tucker's absence.

Tue Sep 1612:18Kyle Tucker's Recovery Taking Longer Than Expected
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (calf) began running on Monday, according to MLB.com. However, he admitted that his recovery from a strained left calf is taking longer than anticipated. "It hasn't gone as quickly as I would have hoped," he said. Manager Craig Counsell revealed that there hasn't been "much progress" since Tucker went on the 10-day injured list on Sept. 9 (retroactive to Sept. 6). While the 28-year-old has been able to hit and throw without issue, his return does not look imminent. It's unclear if Tucker will return during the regular season, but with the Cubs all but guaranteed an NL wild-card spot, they don't have to rush him back this month. With Tucker down, Willi Castro has gotten the lion's share of starts in right field.

Fri Sep 1214:15Kyle Tucker "Unlikely" to Return When Eligible on Tuesday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (calf) is hitting and throwing, but he will not begin running until after the weekend and is "unlikely" to come off the 10-day injured list when he's eligible on Tuesday, according to manager Craig Counsell. Tucker is making progress from a left-calf strain, but he won't return early next week for fantasy managers. The Cubs will be pretty careful with the 28-year-old All-Star, but barring a setback, he should be back with Chicago before the end of September. With Tucker out lately, the Cubs have been mixing and matching in right field with Seiya Suzuki and Willi Castro. Tucker went through a little slump at the plate last month, but had bounced back nicely right before injuring his calf. When he's healthy and back with the Cubs, the former first-rounder will be a must-start in all fantasy lineups.

Tue Sep 918:23Kyle Tucker Placed on Injured List With Calf Strain
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (calf) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, retroactive to September 6. Finally, the Cubs placed Tucker on the shelf after he missed the last five games due to a left-calf strain. Tucker has been banged up with injuries throughout the second half of the season. At this point, it's the best decision to place Tucker on the shelf and give him time to get healthy before the postseason in October. In a corresponding move, catching prospect Moises Ballesteros has been recalled to take over the active roster spot. The Cubs are likely to employ a committee approach to fill the void in the outfield. Willi Castro, Kevin Alcantara, and Seiya Suzuki figure to all see time in right field.

Tue Sep 916:50Kyle Tucker Still Sidelined on Tuesday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (calf) remains sidelined for Tuesday's game at Truist Park against the Atlanta Braves. Willi Castro will make the start in right field and will hit seventh against Braves right-hander Spencer Strider. Left-calf tightness will sideline the left-handed hitting All-Star for the sixth straight game, and while the 28-year-old is still considered day-to-day, he could also land on the 10-day injured list any day now. Chicago's main priority at this point is to have Tucker be 100 percent healthy for the start of the postseason in October. If he cannot play by Friday's series opener against the Tampa Bay Rays after a scheduled day off on Thursday, an IL stint will be much more likely. The switch-hitting Castro has modest power/speed skills with 11 homers and 10 steals in 375 at-bats in 2025, but he's also hitting just .229.

Mon Sep 816:53Kyle Tucker Still Absent on Monday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (calf) remains absent from the starting lineup for Monday's series opener in Atlanta against the Braves at Truist Park. Seiya Suzuki will man right field and bat third against Braves right-hander Bryce Elder. Tucker is missing his fifth straight start due to tightness in his left calf. Manager Craig Counsell said that Tucker looked to be improving on Sunday, but the Cubs arent't ruling out a stint on the injured list if he cannot return to action soon. The good news for the Cubs is they are getting outfielder Pete Crow-Armstrong back after he fouled a ball off his knee on Saturday against the Washington Nationals. The 28-year-old Tucker was in a slump in the midst of August but was swinging the bat well once again just before he injured his calf. If he's forced to the IL, there's a chance we won't see Tucker again until the postseason in October.

Sun Sep 721:38Kyle Tucker Unlikely for Monday's Lineup; Cubs Monitor Calf Injury
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker is unlikely to be in Monday's lineup against the Atlanta Braves as he continues to recover from a calf injury, according to manager Craig Counsell. Tucker last played on September 2 and has been sidelined since, though he is reportedly ramping up his pregame work. He remains day-to-day, but the Cubs hope to have him back soon as they push for a playoff spot in the National League. The 28-year-old is slashing .270/.381/.472 with 22 home runs in his first season with Chicago, showing his trademark consistency.

Sun Sep 713:26Kyle Tucker Remains Out on Sunday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (calf) is on the bench Sunday against Washington Nationals left-hander Andrew Alvarez. Seiya Suzuki will play right field and bat third, while Justin Turner will serve as the designated hitter and occupy the seventh spot in the lineup. Tucker has been dealing with a calf injury that will shelve him for a fourth straight game, but the Cubs are optimistic that he'll avoid a stint on the 10-day IL. The 28-year-old went through a brutal slump earlier this summer that led to the Cubs giving him back-to-back days off from Aug. 19-20, but Tucker has since picked up at least one hit in 11 of 13 games. The hope is that he'll return to the lineup when Chicago begins a series against the Atlanta Braves on Monday.

Sat Sep 613:23Kyle Tucker Remains Out on Saturday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (calf) remained out of the lineup on Saturday, as he continues to work through a lingering calf injury. Manager Craig Counsell said before the game that the team believes they have time to let it heal on its own without utilizing the injured list. He emphasized that they will be conservative, and having the extra roster spot in September is a bonus for the Cubs. It's worth noting, too, that Tucker also worked out on the field on Saturday, practicing fly-ball drills while moving his hips and legs in multiple directions. The 28-year-old last played on September 2 and will miss his third straight game, and it remains to be seen exactly when he will return to the Cubs' lineup.

Fri Sep 514:06Kyle Tucker Remains Out on Friday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (calf) is out of the starting lineup again for Friday's series opener against the visiting Washington Nationals at Wrigley Field. Willi Castro will make the start in right field and will bat sixth against Nationals right-hander Jake Irvin. Tucker was pulled from Tuesday's game against the Atlanta Braves with calf tightness and will now miss a second straight game. It's somewhat concerning that Tucker isn't back in there following an off day on Thursday, but it doesn't mean he won't return at some point this weekend against the Nats. Manager Craig Counsell said the team is hopeful the 28-year-old left-handed hitter can return this weeknd, potentially as the designated hitter. Since a cold spell in August, Tucker has gotten back on track at the plate, so it's a bad time for him to sit out due to injury.

Wed Sep 316:51Kyle Tucker Not in Cubs Lineup on Wednesday
After being pulled early on Tuesday night with left-calf tightness, Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (calf) is out of Wednesday's lineup versus the visiting Atlanta Braves at Wrigley Field. Seiya Suzuki will man right field and will bat third against Braves right-hander Bryce Elder, with veteran Carlos Santana manning the designated hitter spot and batting fifth. The good news is that Tucker's calf injury doesn't sound too serious, and the Cubs are hoping that he'll be ready to go for Friday's series opener against the Washington Nationals after Thursday's day off. Fantasy managers will want to check back then to see if the 28-year-old is back in the lineup. Tucker is a must-start in fantasy when he's active. He was in the midst of a slump in August but has been back to his All-Star self after taking some mental days off.

Tue Sep 222:20Kyle Tucker Leaves With Calf Tightness on Tuesday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (calf) left Tuesday night's contest early against the Atlanta Braves at Wrigley Field with left-calf tightness, according to the team. Before leaving the eventual 4-3 win over the Braves, Tucker went 2-for-3 at the plate with the 22nd home run of the season and three RBI. He was replaced in right field by Willi Castro. It's unclear how serious the 28-year-old slugger's calf injury is, but if Tucker were to miss extended time, Castro and Kevin Alcantara would be the candidates to gain playing time in right field for the Cubbies. Tucker was in the midst of an extended slump before getting a few days off to clear his head. Since then, he has picked things back up offensively, going 14-for-41 (.341) with three home runs, four doubles and eight RBI in 11 games since Aug. 21. There should be an update on the severity of Tucker's calf injury by Wednesday morning.

Sun Aug 2409:23Kyle Tucker Homers Twice in Win
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker remained hot at the plate during Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels. Tucker homered in the series opener and continued the fun on Saturday. Tucker went 3-for-5 with two homers and five RBI in the blowout win. This power surge comes after Tucker got a break due to a long slump at the plate. It's worth noting that Tucker was dealing with a hairline fracture in his right hand, which likely contributed to his struggles. He appears to be fully healthy now, so fantasy managers should make sure Tucker is in their lineups. A 30-30 season isn't out of reach for Tucker if he stays hot at the plate.

Thu Aug 2112:15Kyle Tucker Returns to Lineup on Thursday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (hand) is returning to the lineup on Thursday in a meeting with the Milwaukee Brewers. Tucker will play right field and hit second against right-hander Quinn Priester. With Tucker amid an extended slump, manager Craig Counsell held the four-time All-Star out of the lineup for three straight games. Tucker's numbers have experienced a severe drop-off since he suffered a hairline fracture in his right hand on June 1 and continued to play through it. The 28-year-old has recovered from the injury, but he has gone a brutal 8-for-54 (.148) with no extra-base hits and one RBI in 15 games this month. After a brief respite, the Cubs and fantasy managers are hoping he'll return to form during the final weeks of the season.

Wed Aug 2023:37Kyle Tucker Played Through Hairline Fracture in Hand
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (hand) suffered a hairline fracture on the top of his right hand in a June 1 game against the Cincinnati Reds, according to Jesse Rogers of ESPN. Manager Craig Counsell confirmed Rogers' report on Wednesday night, but he said Tucker is now healthy. While the initial belief was that Tucker jammed his ring finger, an MRI showed a fracture "near where the pinky and ring finger meet," per Rogers. Nevertheless, Tucker did not go on the 10-day injured list, and he underwent re-imaging in mid-June that showed his hand was healing. Tucker did post a .982 OPS in June, but his numbers have nosedived in the past month and a half. Heading into July, Tucker owned a stellar .291/.395/.537 line with 17 home runs and 52 RBI. In 38 games since then, the 28-year-old has gone a miserable 25-for-132 (.189) with one homer and 10 RBI despite having totaled more walks (26) than strikeouts (25). While Tucker hasn't made any excuses about the injury during his protracted slump, Counsell admitted it has "likely" hampered his production. Counsell has held Tucker out of three straight games in hopes that the time off will jump-start him. There's no guarantee it'll work, but the Cubs and fantasy managers are hoping Tucker will come back refreshed for the last several weeks of the season.

Mon Aug 1817:31Kyle Tucker to Get Multiple Days Off
Chicago Cubs manager Craig Counsell said that struggling outfielder Kyle Tucker will get multiple days off and will sit out of Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader against the division-rival Milwaukee Brewers. Tucker went 0-for-4 in the Game 1 loss at Wrigley Field and has a 57 percent ground-ball rate this month. He's in need of a reset. Since the All-Star break in mid-July, Tucker has gone 16-for-84 (.190) with a homer, two doubles, six RBI, 11 runs, three steals and a 19:17 BB:K in 25 games played. The 28-year-old left-handed slugger isn't the only Cubs hitter that is struggling right now, but it appears that Tucker is really pressing and has been visibly upset and uncomfortable at the dish. His second-half slump has dropped his season slash line to .263/.376/.451 with an .828 OPS. With Tucker out the next few days, Willi Castro and rookie Owen Caissie could see more at-bats.

Fri Aug 812:17Kyle Tucker Says Finger Feels "Fine"
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (finger) has seen his numbers tumble in recent weeks, perhaps thanks in part to a finger injury he suffered in a 7-3 win over the Reds on June 1. X-rays came back negative on Tucker's jammed right ring finger at the time, but president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer told Jordan Bastian of MLB.com this week that the issue "did bother him for a while." Hoyer isn't sure if the injury is still hampering Tucker, but he added: "There's no question that when you look at his numbers, it's had an impact on him, for sure. That's the nature sometimes of these small injuries -- they can do that." Tucker says he feels "fine," but there's no denying he has slumped for several weeks. Despite the injury, the 28-year-old still posted a .982 OPS with five home runs and 13 RBI in June. However, since the beginning of July, Tucker has gone 20-for-96 (.208) with just one homer and nine RBI in 28 games. Thanks to a hot start, Tucker is still slashing a terrific .271/.384/.474 with 18 homers, 61 RBI, 75 runs scored, and 23 stolen bases in 492 plate appearances. The Cubs and fantasy managers are going to need Tucker to return to his usual form down the stretch, but it could be tough if an injury is hindering him.

Fri Jul 2518:31Kyle Tucker Back for Cubs on Friday
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (knee) is starting in right field and batting second in Friday's series opener against the Chicago White Sox and right-hander Adrian Houser at Guaranteed Rate Field. Tucker injured his right knee on Tuesday when he fouled a ball off his leg, but he had Wednesday's game off and a scheduled travel day on Thursday to rest up. The 28-year-old left-handed slugger is feeling good enough to return to the field on Friday against the crosstown-rival White Sox. Fantasy managers will want to get the All-Star back into their lineups immediately. Tucker has a hit in just two career at-bats against Houser. He's been one of the best all-around fantasy players in his first year with Chicago, slashing .275/.383/.493 with an .876 OPS, 18 home runs, 57 RBI, 71 runs scored and 23 stolen bases. Tucker contributes across the board in a strong offense.

Wed Jul 2312:52Kyle Tucker Taking the Day Off After Fouling Ball Off his Knee
Chicago Cubs outfielder Kyle Tucker (knee) is taking a rare day off in Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Kansas City Royals at Wrigley Field after fouling a ball off his knee on Tuesday. Seiya Suzuki will play right field and will hit second, while catcher Carson Kelly will serve as the designated hitter and bat cleanup versus Royals right-hander Seth Lugo. Reese McGuire is doing the catching and hitting in the eight-hole. Suzuki has been one of the best fantasy producers all year, and he's also hitting .333 with a home run and two RBI in six career at-bats against Lugo. This is Tucker's first day off sine June 17, but he's expected to be back in action for Friday's series opener in Chicago against the White Sox after a scheduled day off on Thursday. Tucker has fit in nicely with the Cubs in his first season on the North Side, slashing .275/.383/.493 with an .876 OPS, 18 homers, 57 RBI, 71 runs and 23 steals in 371 at-bats.

Wed Jul 220:53No Extension Imminent for Cubs, Kyle Tucker
The Chicago Cubs are open to trying to sign outfielder Kyle Tucker to a long-term contract extension, but they aren't committing to serious contract talks until later in the season or in the offseason, according to The Athletic's Patrick Mooney. Tucker was acquired in a blockbuster trade last winter from the Houston Astros, and the original idea was that the team would try to win big with Tucker in 2025 and figure out the rest later on. "Kyle Tucker is a player you want to have for a long time," president of baseball operations Jed Hoyer said. "He's been one of the best players in baseball this year. He does so many things well, and he's really had a significant impact on this offense. Certainly, you want to keep a player like that. You go into the negotiation wanting to keep him. But, obviously, you realize in some way that you must have your limits."
