Carlos CorreaSSTwinsFree Agent
On the eve of Thursday's trade deadline, the Houston Astros are showing interest in Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa, St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado, and Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. The most interesting possibility here may be Correa, who began his career in Houston and flourished as a member of the team. Correa, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 draft, debuted with the Astros in 2015. He played with the club through 2021 and took home Rookie of the Year honors, made two All-Star teams, and won a World Series in their uniform before signing with the Twins in free agency. He's now in the fourth season of a six-year, $200 million contract, which looks pricey considering his output in 2025. Correa has batted a pedestrian .267/.319/.386 with seven homers, 31 RBI, and 40 runs scored in his age-30 campaign, and he hasn't gone yard in any of his 20 games this month. Correa has a full no-trade clause, but he still lives in Houston in the offseason and would waive it to return there, according to Nightengale. With that said, the Astros do have an established shortstop in Jeremy Pena (ribs), who should return from the 10-day injured list soon after missing over a month with a small rib fracture. Correa and Pena have exclusively played short in the majors, so the Astros would have to find a way to make that work. It seems likely that Correa would take over at third with ... [More]

Wed Jul 3010:13Eugenio Suarez Back in Lineup WednesdayEugenio Suárez3BDiamondbacksFree Agent
Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez (finger) is returning to the lineup on Wednesday against Detroit Tigers right-hander Chris Paddack. He'll bat cleanup and serve as the designated hitter. Suarez had an injury scare on Monday when he took a fastball off the right index finger, but X-rays came back negative, and he ended up missing just one game. This could be the final game in an Arizona uniform for Suarez, who is likely to end up on the move before Thursday's trade deadline. The 34-year-old has drawn interest from several contenders during what has been a prolific season. Fresh off his second All-Star Game appearance, Suarez has slashed .248/.321/.577 with 36 homers, a league-leading 87 RBI, and 64 runs scored in 433 plate appearances.

Wed Jul 3009:53Max Muncy Returns to the Lineup with Triple-A Oklahoma City on TuesdayMax Muncy3BDodgersFree Agent
Los Angeles Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy (knee) went 0-for-3 with two strikeouts in Tuesday's rehab assignment with Triple-A Oklahoma City. Muncy also played six innings at third base and committed an error in the fifth inning that allowed a run to score. This was Muncy's first game back in action since July 2, and was a big first step in his return to the Dodgers lineup. In Muncy's absence, Tommy Edman and Miguel Rojas have been handling the hot corner, although both have the versatility to play most infield positions. Muncy started the season off slow, but caught fire in June, slashing .333/.459/.654. On the season, Muncy is slashing .250/.375/.457 with 13 home runs, 55 RBI, four stolen bases, and 39 runs scored. He remains a mid-range option at third base for fantasy managers once he returns, which should be sometime in the next week or two.

Wed Jul 3009:25Dylan Cease's CT Scans Come Back NegativeDylan CeaseSPPadresFree Agent
San Diego Padres manager Mike Shildt said Tuesday that the CT scans of right-hander Dylan Cease's (head) came back negative, per 97.3 The Fan. Cease was hit in the back of the head by a comebacker on Monday and remained in the game until the bottom of the fifth inning, and his departure from the game did not appear to be because of the comebacker, but rather performance and pitch count. Regardless, the Padres wanted Cease to get a CT scan after the contest as a precautionary measure, and the testing revealed no swelling, bleeding, or any other issues. There's no reason to suggest Cease will not be able to make his next scheduled start, which is tentatively lined up for Sunday to take on the Cardinals. Cease has struggled in 2025 with a 4.79 ERA and 1.34 WHIP in 118 1/3 innings pitched. That being said, he remains a must-start in fantasy based on his pedigree and upside.

Wed Jul 3009:12X-Rays on Juan Soto's Foot Come Back NegativeJuan SotoRFMetsFree Agent
New York Mets superstar outfielder Juan Soto (foot) was removed from Tuesday's game against the Padres with a left foot contusion. X-rays on Juan Soto's foot were negative; he's day to day, and the Mets are confident nothing is broken, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Soto fouled a ball off his foot in Tuesday's 7-1 loss to the San Diego Padres. Soto was able to finish the at-bat, but was eventually replaced by Tyrone Taylor once the Mets went out to play the bottom half of the inning. The Mets may play it safe with Soto and sit him on Wednesday, given that an off day is already scheduled for Thursday. On the season, Soto is currently slashing .248/.382/.488 with 25 home runs, 62 RBI, 15 stolen bases, and 75 runs scored in 379 at-bats. He remains a top outfield option for fantasy managers even with his subpar results compared to Soto's standards.

Wed Jul 3006:46Moises Ballesteros to Join MLB RosterMoisés BallesterosCCubsFree Agent
The Chicago Cubs are expected to promote top catching prospect Moises Ballesteros to the MLB roster. Ballesteros earned his first taste of the major leagues earlier this season but only appeared in five games. However, with left fielder Ian Happ (shin) suffering an injury during their contest against the Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday evening, the 21-year-old could have a clear path to consistent playing time during his second stint. Fantasy managers should expect Seiya Suzuki to shift from the DH spot to left field, which will open a position for Ballesteros. Ballesteros could also see time behind the dish alongside Carson Kelly and Reese McGuire. At Triple-A this season, Ballesteros has been one of the most dominant hitters, boasting a .332/.393/.496 slash line with nine home runs. He is worth adding in all two-catcher leagues.

Wed Jul 3000:54Zac Veen Goes Deep on TuesdayZac VeenLFRockiesFree Agent
Colorado Rockies outfield prospect Zac Veen went 1-for-4 with a home run, two RBI, and an additional run scored in a 12-2 win over Triple-A Sacramento. Veen has been productive all season a Triple-A, slashing .309/.377/.491 with six homers and 10 stolen bases in 259 plate appearances. He made his MLB debut in early April, but was unable to stick with the big league club as he was just 4-for-34 with 14 strikeouts during his brief stint. He has an interesting power and speed skillset, although the power is still a question, as his 109.2 MPH MaxEV doesn't signal a big ceiling in that department. But he has hit the ball consistently hard at Triple-A this season with a 49.4 percent hard-hit rate, and would have some appeal in deep and NL-only leagues if he were to return to the majors at some point.

Wed Jul 3000:47Brewers Plan Rehab Assignment For Rhys Hoskins In Late AugustRhys Hoskins1BBrewersFree Agent
The Milwaukee Brewers said Tuesday that they are hoping for first baseman Rhys Hoskins (thumb) to be ready to begin a rehab assignment in late August as he recovers from a sprained left thumb, per MLB.com's Adam McCalvy. Hoskins was placed on the injured list at the beginning of July. The 32-year-old was slashing .242/.340/.428 with 12 home runs and 42 RBI before the injury. While this timeline could put him back with the Brewers for the playoffs, it would leave little time for him to contribute to fantasy this season. Fantasy managers still looking for replacement production could turn to Andrew Vaughn, who is just 11 percent rostered and has been crushing the ball since joining the Brewers.

Wed Jul 3000:37Ian Happ Exits Tuesday With Bruised Shin, May Require Injured List StintIan HappLFCubsFree Agent
Chicago Cubs outfielder Ian Happ (shin) exited Tuesday's 9-3 loss to the Brewers in the eighth inning after fouling a ball off his left shin. X-rays after the game were negative, and Happ said he will need to get the swelling down and manage the pain. However, he may require a stint on the injured list. He went 1-for-3 with a double before being pinch-hit for by Vidal Brujan. The 30-year-old is having a disappointing season, slashing .227/.324/.380 with 14 home runs, 50 RBI, and five stolen bases in 444 plate appearances. Fantasy managers should check Wednesday's lineup, although it would not be surprising to see him out of the lineup, especially since he may need to miss time.

Wed Jul 3000:26Ronald Acuna Jr. Heading to Injured List With Right-Achilles TightnessRonald Acuña Jr.RFBravesFree Agent
As another blow to an already poor season for the Atlanta Braves, outfielder Ronald Acuna Jr. (Achilles) exited Tuesday night's 9-6 loss to the Royals with right-Achilles tightness. The team announced that Acuna Jr. would be placed on the injured list. He went 0-for-2 with a walk before exiting after showing discomfort in his at-bats. The 27-year-old has dealt with numerous similar injuries throughout his career and made just 222 plate appearances in 2024. This is unfortunate news for both the Braves and fantasy managers, as Acuna Jr. was slashing .306/.429/.577 with 14 home runs, 26 RBI, and four stolen bases in 238 plate appearances. Eli White replaced Acuna Jr., so he may see more playing time. However, fantasy managers will likely want to look elsewhere to try to find a replacement for Acuna Jr.

Wed Jul 3000:16Juan Soto Exits Early Tuesday With Foot ContusionJuan SotoRFMetsFree Agent
New York Mets outfielder Juan Soto (foot) exited Tuesday's game against the Padres in the fourth inning with a foot contusion. Soto fouled a pitch off his foot in the top of the inning, and while he stayed in to finish the at-bat, he was replaced defensively in the next half-inning by Tyrone Taylor. Soto went 0-for-2 before exiting. Fantasy managers should look for more information after the game. The 26-year-old, who is in the first season of a 15-year, $765 million contract, has slashed .248/.382/.488 with 25 home runs, 62 RBI, and 15 stolen bases in 469 plate appearances.

Wed Jul 3000:08Jackson Chourio Exits Early Tuesday With Right-Hamstring SpasmJackson ChourioCFBrewersFree Agent
Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Jackson Chourio (hamstring) exited Tuesday's 9-3 win over the Cubs in the fifth inning with a right hamstring spasm. Chourio pulled up heading into third base on a triple and was replaced on the basepaths by Blake Perkins. Chourio had gone 2-for-3 with a single and triple before exiting. He was also picked off first base. Fantasy managers should keep an eye out for more news and check the Brewers' lineup on Wednesday. The 21-year-old has put together a solid sophomore season, slashing .276/.311/.474 with 17 home runs, 67 RBI, and 18 stolen bases in 472 plate appearances.

Tue Jul 2921:54Michael King Eyes Weekend Rehab StartMichael KingSPPadresFree Agent
San Diego Padres right-hander Michael King (shoulder) is reportedly in consideration for a rehab start this weekend, likely at the Triple-A level. The 30-year-old has been on the 60-day injured list since May 25 with a long thoracic nerve injury in his right shoulder. He is expected to return sometime in August. Before the injury, King was dominant, posting a 2.59 ERA, a 1.02 WHIP, and 64 strikeouts across 55 innings. His return would provide a significant boost to a Padres rotation looking to stay competitive in a tightly contested National League West race.

Tue Jul 2919:05Kyle Stowers Returns on TuesdayKyle StowersLFMarlinsFree Agent
Miami Marlins outfielder Kyle Stowers (illness) is feeling better and is starting in left field and hitting cleanup in Tuesday's game against the hosting St. Louis Cardinals and right-hander Sonny Gray at Busch Stadium. Stowers was scratched from the series opener on Monday but will return the very next day. The 27-year-old left-handed-hitting outfielder has never faced Gray in his career, but fantasy managers will want to get Stowers back into their starting lineups immediately the way he's been swinging the bat. In his last 12 games, the breakout star is hitting an absurd .439 (18-for-41) with seven home runs and four doubles. He comes into Tuesday's tilt slashing a robust .299/.379/.573 with a .952 OPS, 23 home runs, 63 RBI, 52 runs scored and five stolen bases. Stowers' strong season earned him his first All-Star appearance this summer.

Tue Jul 2918:39Tanner Scott Begins Throwing ProgressionTanner ScottRPDodgersFree Agent
Los Angeles Dodgers relief pitcher Tanner Scott (elbow) began a throwing progression on Tuesday, according to manager Dave Roberts. This is a positive step forward for Scott who is working his way back from an elbow inflammation issue. The expectation is that Scott is going to need at least a few weeks to ramp up again. He figures to be back in the mix by the end of August. That being said, the Dodgers might want to make a move to add another high leverage arm while he's out. For now, Blake Treinen, Ben Casparius, and Alex Vesia will handle the bulk of the closing duties. For now, fantasy managers should continue to hold Scott on their IR until there's a better timetable available.

Tue Jul 2918:24Ryan Helsley Drawing Interest From Blue JaysRyan HelsleyRPCardinalsFree Agent
St. Louis Cardinals relief pitcher Ryan Helsley has been a hot name ahead of this Thursday's trade deadline. The two-time All-Star is on an expiring deal and could be a legitimate back-end bullpen option for many contending teams. This season, Helsley holds a 3.00 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and a 41/14 K/BB ratio with 21 saves in 36 games with the Cardinals. There should be plenty of teams in on Helsley, but the Toronto Blue Jays are the most recent team to throw their hat in the race. It's worth noting that the Blue Jays did acquire right-hander Seranthony Dominguez on Tuesday. However, it doesn't appear they're done adding bullpen and could make a splash with Helsley. The 31-year-old is one of the best arms available, so it could be a hefty price for whoever acquires him.

Tue Jul 2916:37Tommy Edman in Tuesday's LineupTommy Edman2BDodgersFree Agent
Los Angeles Dodgers infielder Tommy Edman (ankle) is starting at third base and batting seventh in Tuesday's clash against the hosting Cincinnati Reds and left-hander Nick Lodolo at Great American Ball Park. Edman injured his right ankle last weekend and was held out of Monday's series opener in Cincy as a precaution. However, the 30-year-old has avoided a trip to the injured list for now and should continue seeing everyday work at the hot corner with Max Muncy (knee) still on the IL. The switch-hitter hasn't done much for fantasy managers in his first full season with the Dodgers, slashing .225/.280/.389 with a below-average .669 OPS, 11 homers, 42 RBI, 41 runs and three steals in 293 at-bats. Edman has been ice-cold in July, too, going 9-for-60 (.150) with a homer, four RBI, 14 K's and five walks in 17 games played.

Tue Jul 2916:20TJ Friedl Goes on Paternity ListTJ FriedlCFRedsFree Agent
Cincinnati Reds outfielder TJ Friedl was placed on the paternity list on Tuesday and outfielder Rece Hinds was recalled from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. Freidl will now be away from the team for a few days and probably won't be back until Thursday's series opener against the Atlanta Braves. With Friedl away on Tuesday, Will Benson is starting in center field and Gavin Lux will bat out of the leadoff spot against the Los Angeles Dodgers. The 29-year-old Friedl has reached double-digit home runs for the third straight season with the Reds. He's currently slashing .269/.371/.398 with a .769 OPS, 10 home runs, 36 RBI, 10 stolen bases and 63 runs scored in 103 games in his fifth year in the big leagues. Friedl offers modest power/speed contributions in deep-mixed leagues and struggles against lefty pitchers.

Tue Jul 2916:16Hyeseong Kim Goes on Injured List With Shoulder BursitisHyeseong Kim2B/SSDodgersFree Agent
The Los Angeles Dodgers announced on Tuesday that they placed infielder Hyeseong Kim (shoulder) on the 10-day injured list with left-shoulder bursitis and selected the contract of prized infield prospect Alex Freeland from Triple-A Oklahoma City in a corresponding move. Kim played in the series opener on Monday against the Cincinnati Reds, but it's something that has been bothering him for a while now, so the Dodgers will give him some time to heal up. Although the 26-year-old rookie hasn't seen consistent playing time on a stacked Dodgers roster, he has taken advantage when he's been on the field with a .304/.338/.406 slash line, two home runs, 15 RBI, 17 runs scored and 12 stolen bases in 138 at-bats. It's unclear if he'll be ready to return when eligible on Aug. 8. It's unclear how long Freeland will be up, but his power/speed profile could give him short-term fantasy appeal in redraft leagues with Kim, Tommy Edman (ankle) and Max Muncy (knee) all hurt.

Tue Jul 2914:30Eugenio Suarez Absent From Tuesday's LineupEugenio Suárez3BDiamondbacksFree Agent
Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez (finger) is not in the team's starting lineup for Tuesday's contest against the hosting Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Although X-rays came back negative on Suarez's right index finger after he was hit by a pitch in Monday's loss to Detroit, it's not that big of a surprise that the D-backs are playing it safe with one of the top available bats at this year's trade deadline. Fantasy managers should consider the 34-year-old right-handed slugger to be day-to-day and check back to see if he's available to play on Wednesday. It would not be a big surprise if we don't see Suarez back in the lineup until the July 31 trade deadline on Thursday, though. Blaze Alexander is starting at third and batting ninth on Tuesday against Tigers right-hander Casey Mize. Alexander could be the team's everyday third baseman if/when Suarez is traded this week.UPDATE: A CT scan and MRI exam both came back negative on Suarez's injured finger on Tuesday.
