Mon Sep 1521:56Corey Seager Does Light Jogging
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (abdomen) did some light jogging on the field on Monday, reports Jeff Wilson of AllDLLS.com. He has been out since August 27 after being diagnosed with appendicitis and undergoing an appendectomy. Bruce Bochy stated that the 31-year-old was still pretty sore, but that soreness figures to be the only thing holding him back from a return to the lineup. Don't expect an activation within the next few days, but Seager should be able to see the field at some point to close out the season. He's had a successful campaign when he is healthy, batting .271 with a .373 on-base percentage and 21 home runs in 102 games.

Sat Sep 1313:47Corey Seager Hopes to Take Swings Soon
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (appendix) is hopeful to begin taking swings with a baseball bat in the near future. The 31-year-old has been cleared to have his progression sped up as he is now physically able to rotate his body. If he can successfully swing a bat, his next step would be to participate in a live batting practice session, which could then lead to a return before the end of the season. The team has targeted the Rangers' final homestand, which begins on September 19, as a potential goal to see him back in the lineup. Due to this sudden progression, and assuming all goes well without a setback, he remains someone who can be stashed on teams on the injured list with the possibility of a final week of potential production at the plate.

Tue Sep 912:54Corey Seager Could Make Late-Season Return
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (appendix) may be able to return for the final seven to 10 days of the regular season, manager Bruce Bochy told reporters. Seager underwent an appendectomy on Aug. 28, but the 31-year-old has made enough progress that he could come back after sitting out for approximately three weeks. He'll hit the three-week mark when the Rangers open a series against the Miami Marlins on Sept. 19. This has been a frustrating season from a health standpoint for Seager, who has also endured two separate stints on the 10-day injured list because of right-hamstring strains. When healthy, though, the five-time All-Star has continued to produce. Over 102 games and 445 plate appearances, Seager has slashed .271/.373/.487 with 21 homers, 50 RBI, 61 runs, and three steals.

Sat Sep 613:44Corey Seager Hopeful to Return this Season
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (appendix) is hopeful that he will be able to return to the team this season. He underwent an appendectomy on August 28, and the belief at the time was that he would require most, if not all, of the remainder of the season from which to recover. However, on Friday, Seager spoke about how he intends to return to the field in 2025, citing how it's been done before by other baseball players in the past within a short enough timeframe. He also noted that his appendix did not burst, and as such, the situation was not a worst-case scenario. While Seager's optimism is encouraging to his situation, manager Bruce Bochy reiterated that things will be taken day by day. Seager can remain stashed on the injured list with the hope that he can contribute at some point this month.

Fri Aug 2919:30Corey Seager Placed on Injured List
The Texas Rangers officially placed shortstop Corey Seager (appendix) on the 10-day injured list (retroactive to Aug. 28) on Friday and selected the contract of infielder/outfielder Dylan Moore from Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. The Rangers also moved outfielder Evan Carter (wrist) to the 60-day IL, ending his season. Seager had a successful appendectomy on Thursday and is expected to miss the next few weeks, but the Rangers are optimistic he'll be able to return before the end of the regular season. Moore will be a utility option off the bench for the team with Seager sidelined, while Josh Smith and Ezequiel Duran should split playing time at the 6. Duran is getting the start at short on Friday and is hitting second for the series opener against the Athletics. Seager needs to be stashed in all fantasy leagues, but there's also a possibility he may not make it back in 2025.

Thu Aug 2822:15Corey Seager Has Successful Surgery
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (abdomen) underwent a successful appendectomy on Thursday. He was diagnosed with appendicitis and required emergency surgery. The expectation is that Seager will return at some point this season. The Rangers expect Seager to miss a few weeks, but he shouldn't be done for the 2025 campaign. Josh Smith figures to be the primary shortstop until Seager is ready to return. The Rangers haven't officially placed Seager on the injured list, but that move should happen this weekend.

Thu Aug 2816:30Corey Seager Undergoing Appendectomy on Thursday
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (appendix) was diagnosed with appendicitis and is undergoing an appendectomy on Thursday, according to general manager and president of baseball operations Chris Young. The Rangers aren't ruling out Seager playing again this year, but in the meantime, utility man Dylan Moore will join the active roster with Seager going on the injured list. For however long Seager is out of action, fantasy managers should expect Josh Smith to man the 6 in Texas. The 28-year-old offers positional versatility for fantasy lineups but not a whole lot else. In 121 games (480 plate appearances) in his fourth year in the big leagues, Smith is slashing .256/.333/.378 with nine home runs, 32 RBI, nine steals and 61 runs scored. Seager has reached the 20-homer mark for the fourth straight season, so his loss is a big one for a Rangers team looking more unlikely to make the postseason in 2025.

Mon Jun 3010:59Corey Seager Homers for Third Straight Day
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager went deep for the third straight game in the team's 6-4 loss to the Seattle Mariners on Sunday. Seager's two-run homer off right-hander Carlos Vargas tied the game at 3 with one out in the bottom of the 10th. The five-time All-Star drove in another run on a sacrifice fly in the 12th to conclude a 1-for-4, one-walk day. Despite his recent power surge, June has been a struggle for Seager. After spending most of May on the injured list with a strained hamstring, Seager has hit .185/.358/.358 in 23 games this month. Overall, he's slashing .244/.342/.430 with 10 HRs, 23 RBI, and 26 runs in 225 plate appearances. While those are above-average numbers, they're below Seager's standards. The good news for fantasy managers is that Seager ranks in the top 7% of the league in xSLG and xwOBA, making him a candidate for positive regression.

Mon Jun 2316:28Corey Seager Resting Versus Southpaw
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager will take a seat on Monday with a left-hander on the mound against the hosting Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards. Ezequiel Duran will make the start at the 6 and will hit ninth against Orioles southpaw Trevor Rogers. Seager has not fared well against lefties this year, going 4-for-24 (.167) against them with just one of his eight home runs and six strikeouts. The 31-year-old two-time World Series MVP has also slumped in June, batting .143/.313/.222 with a homer, two doubles, four RBI, five runs scored and 18 strikeouts in 18 games played. Duran offers very little fantasy appeal for DFS managers on Monday. The 26-year-old Dominican has gone just 8-for-53 (.151) on the season with no home runs and two RBI. He's unlikely to make an impact at the bottom of Texas' batting order.

Fri Jun 2023:32Corey Seager Snaps Long Home Run Drought in Win
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager belted his first home run in over a month in a 6-2 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday. Seager's solo shot, his seventh of the year, was his first in 18 games and his lone hit in a 1-for-5 night. After smacking two HRs on May 10, Seager went on the injured list for two-plus weeks with a hamstring strain. He returned May 28 and has batted a miserable .147 (10-for-68) with three RBI since then. Thanks to his woeful stretch over the past few weeks, Seager is hitting an uncharacteristically pedestrian .232/.319/.393 in 191 plate appearances. However, Seager ranks in the league's 84th percentile or better in xBA, xSLG, xwOBA, and average exit velocity. With that in mind, the three-time 30-HR hitter is a clear candidate for positive regression. He'll face Pirates right-hander Mitch Keller on Saturday.

Wed May 2816:19Corey Seager Officially Activated and Starting on Wednesday
The Texas Rangers announced on Wednesday that they officially activated shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) from the 10-day injured list and optioned infielder Blaine Crim to Triple-A Round Rock in a corresponding move. Seager is serving as the designated hitter and will bat third in Wednesday's contest against the visiting Toronto Blue Jays and right-hander Paxton Schultz. The Rangers will ease the 31-year-old veteran back as the DH since he's been out since May 11 with a right-hamstring strain on the injured list for the second time this year. Fantasy managers will want to get the five-time All-Star and three-time Silver Slugger winner back into their starting lineups immediately. When healthy in 2025, Seager has hit an even .300 (30-for-100) with six home runs, 12 RBI and 15 runs scored for the Rangers.

Tue May 2718:50Corey Seager to Return Wednesday
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) is expected to be activated from the injured list ahead of Wednesday's game against the Toronto Blue Jays. Seager has been sidelined the last few weeks due to a hamstring injury. Before going down, Seager was hitting .300/.346/.520 with six home runs and 12 RBI before landing on the injured list May 11. He'll return to the middle of the batting order and hopefully bring some life into this offense. Fantasy managers should check back on Wednesday, but expect Seager to be back for the series finale.

Mon May 2618:37Corey Seager Takes Live Batting Practice
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) took live batting practice on Monday before the series opener at Globe Life Park against the Toronto Blue Jays, according to The Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant. However, Grant says that he thinks the Rangers will wait at least a day to activate him from the 10-day injured list. Seager also faced live pitching on Saturday and is expected to rejoin the big-league roster during the current homestand that runs through Sunday. A struggling and beat-up Rangers offense could surely use the 31-year-old's bat back in the lineup sooner than later. Seager has already been on the IL two times this year with hamstring issues, but hopefully he has put the injury in the rearview mirror. The two-time World Series MVP will return to a .300/.346/.520 lash line with six homers, 12 RBI and 15 runs and will be a must-start in fantasy lineups when he's back.

Sun May 2521:28Corey Seager Close to a Return
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) faced live pitching on May 24 and is expected to return from the 10-day injured list during the team's next homestand, reports MLB.com. The homestand starts on Monday and ends the following Sunday, so it's safe to expect him back at some point within the week. He'll look to pick up where he left off, as he slashed .300/.346/.520 with six home runs through the first 26 games of the season.

Thu May 2215:18Corey Seager Won't Return for Another 7-10 Days
Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said on Thursday that shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) isn't scheduled to return from the 10-day injured list for another seven to 10 days. This is already Seager's second stint on the IL this year due to a right-hamstring issue, and it's his third hamstring injury since 2023, so the Rangers are seeking preventative steps so that it doesn't become an issue again in 2025. Although the 31-year-old veteran's return isn't imminent, he has been running and is doing "very well" in his rehab. Seager's hamstring issues this year have been frustrating for his fantasy managers, but when he's been on the field, he's been great, hitting .300 (30-for-100) with six long balls, 12 RBI and 15 runs scored. Continue to stash the two-time World Series MVP in all formats. Until he returns, Josh Smith and Ezequiel Duran will continue to split playing time at the 6.

Wed May 1420:18Rangers To Be Extra Cautious With Corey Seager This Time
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) landed on the 10-day injured list with a right-hamstring strain on Tuesday for the second time in less than two weeks. It's similar to the injury that kept him out from April 23 to May 2, but manager Bruce Bochy said Seager's current strain is "in a little different area" of his hamstring. "We want to make sure that this thing is healed up," Bochy said. "We don't want him playing at 75, 80 percent. It could be [more than 10 days]. I don't know for sure." Despite the hammy setbacks this year, the two-time World Series MVP has hit a strong .300/.346/.520 in 26 games in 2025. In his last game on Saturday, he recorded two homers and a double. Josh Smith missed the last few games with a minor back injury but returned for Wednesday's game against the Colorado Rockies, and he should see most of the playing time at the 6 until Seager returns, which might not be until later this month.

Tue May 1317:08Corey Seager Officially Goes Back On Injured List
The Texas Rangers officially placed shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) back on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday with a right-hamstring strain and reinstated catcher Kyle Higashioka (intercostal) from the 10-day IL in a corresponding move. This will be the second time this year already that Seager has been on the IL with his hamstring injury. The 31-year-old two-time World Series MVP missed two games last week before returning on Saturday to hit two home runs, but he felt more hamstring tightness and was held out another two games on Sunday and Monday. This time around, he could miss more time as Seager looks to put the injury in the past for good. Seager should be stashed in all fantasy formats while he recovers. Josh Smith (back) should be the primary option at the 6 in the meantime, although he also missed Monday's game. Ezequiel Duran has made starts at short each of the last two games.

Mon May 1218:26Corey Seager Appears To Be Headed Back To Injured List
DLLS Sports' Jeff Wilson writes that it appears likely that Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) will go back on the 10-day injured list, with catcher Kyle Higashioka (ribs) likely returning from the IL in a corresponding move. Seager is missing another game in Monday's series opener against the visiting Colorado Rockies after sitting out Sunday's contest with more hamstring tightness. This would be the 31-year-old's second trip to the IL already in 2025 with hamstring issues. He missed two straight games on Thursday and Friday before returning on Saturday to hit two home runs, but Seager was removed from the lineup on Sunday with more right-hamstring tightness. Ezequiel Duran is starting at the 6 again on Monday and is hitting ninth against Rockies rookie right-hander Chase Dollander. Duran and Josh Smith should share shortstop duties if Seager goes back on the IL.

Sun May 1112:34Corey Seager Not Past His Hamstring Injury
According to the Dallas Morning News' Evan Grant, the Texas Rangers will have shortstop Corey Seager (hamstring) re-evaluated on Monday after his balky hamstring got tight on his swings in the 10-5 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Saturday night. Seager missed Thursday and Friday due to his ongoing hamstring issue, but he returned on Saturday to go 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double and three RBI, making this even more frustrating for his fantasy managers. Seager is out of the lineup for the series finale against the Tigers on Sunday and probably won't be able to play in Monday's series opener against the Colorado Rockies, either. Having already gone on the injured list with a hamstring injury this year, it wouldn't be a surprise to see him headed back to the IL. Josh Smith would most likely pick up most of the starts at the 6 if Seager goes back on the shelf.

Sun May 1112:00Corey Seager Taking Sunday Off
Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is not in the team's starting lineup for Sunday's series finale in Detroit against the Tigers at Comerica Park. Ezequiel Duran will start at the 6 and hit ninth for the Rangers against Tigers right-hander Reese Olson. Seager missed Thursday and Friday due to a minor right-hamstring injury, but he returned with a bang on Saturday against Detroit, going 3-for-4 with two home runs, a double and three RBI in the 10-5 win. The Rangers appear to be playing things safe with the 31-year-old veteran on Sunday, and he should be back in there for Monday's series opener against the Colorado Rockies. Duran makes for a very low-upside DFS play in the nine-hole for the Rangers for Sunday's slate of action. The 25-year-old Dominican has just one hit in his 16 at-bats this season and has one hit in his four career at-bats against Olson.
