Tue Jul 2918:49Byron Buxton Placed on 10-Day Injured List
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (rib) was placed on the 10-day injured list, retroactive to July 27. This move comes after Buxton was forced to exit early during Saturday's game due to a ribcage issue. He'll officially hit the shelf due to left rib cartilage irritation. This is a shame considering Buxton was actually doing quite well at the plate. He was slashing .282/.343/.561 with 23 home runs, 59 RBI, and 17 steals in 85 games. There should be a better timetable on his return in the coming days. In the meantime, Harrison Bader and DaShawn Keirsey Jr. will likely split up the playing time in center field.

Mon Jul 2816:32Byron Buxton Still Out on Monday
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (rib cage) remains out of the starting lineup for Monday's series opener against the visiting Boston Red Sox at Target Field. Buxton felt irritation in his side on Saturday and was held out of the series finale on Sunday against the Washington Nationals before an MRI exam showed left-side rib cartilage inflammation. The 31-year-old All-Star escaped any sort of serious injury and is considered day-to-day, which means he could be back in action in the series against Boston as soon as Tuesday. Fantasy managers will want to keep him out of their lineups another day and check back on Tuesday. DaShawn Keirsey Jr. is starting in center field for the Twin and will bat ninth on Monday against Red Sox right-hander Richard Fitts. Keirsey should be avoided in DFS. He's gone 7-for-71 (.099) on the year with a homer and eight steals.

Sun Jul 2718:14Byron Buxton Considered Day-to-Day
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (ribs) appears to have avoided any significant injuries. Buxton underwent an MRI on Sunday which revealed left rib cartilage irritation. There is no structural damage, so this sounds like positive news for the Twins. On Sunday, Twins' manager Rocco Baldelli told reporters Buxton is considered day-to-day. He sat out on Sunday, but should be back in the lineup at some point next week. Fantasy managers will have to check back to see if he's in the lineup on Monday.

Sun Jul 2713:10Byron Buxton Sitting on Sunday
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (side) will take a seat on Sunday against the Washington Nationals. Harrison Bader will take over in center field and bat eighth versus right-hander Jake Irvin. Buxton left Saturday's game early with soreness in his left side, and he has since undergone imaging. There's no word on whether he'll require a stint on the 10-day injured list. Injuries have haunted Buxton throughout his career, but the 31-year-old has mostly stayed healthy this season and offered tremendous production. He earned his second All-Star invitation and has slashed .282/.343/.561 with 23 homers, 59 RBI, 68 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases in 364 plate appearances.

Sat Jul 2621:50Byron Buxton Makes Early Exit on Saturday
According to Bobby Nightengale, Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (side) was forced to make an early exit from Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals. Buxton was reportedly removed from the contest due to left side soreness. Before exiting, Buxton went 0-for-3 at the plate, so it was a fairly unproductive night for him. The expectation is that the Twins are going to give more information on his status following Saturday's game. Harrison Bader took over in center field and figures to see more time out there if Buxton sits out a few games.

Wed Jul 1623:54Byron Buxton Won't Waive No-Trade Clause
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton has never looked like a realistic trade candidate approaching the July 31 deadline. Nevertheless, Buxton addressed speculation at All-Star festivities in Atlanta this week and made it clear that he isn't going anywhere. In fact, the 31-year-old expects to spend his entire career with the Twins. "I've got a no-trade clause -- I'm a Minnesota Twin for the rest of my life," Buxton told reporters, including Phil Miller of the Minnesota Star Tribune. Buxton's no-trade clause came as part of a seven-year, $100 million extension that took effect in 2022. A member of the Twins organization since going second overall in the 2012 draft, Buxton has been one of the majors' most electrifying players when healthy. Injuries have been an all-too-frequent problem during his career, though, and have held him to just two seasons of 100-plus games. For the most part, Buxton has stayed healthy this year, which may go down as a career campaign. He deservedly earned his second All-Star nod after slashing .289/.351/.574 with 21 homers, 56 RBI, 64 runs scored, and 17 stolen bases over 78 games and 333 plate appearances during the first half. Buxton had his best game of the season last Saturday, when he hit for the cycle and went 5-for-5 in a win over the Pittsburgh Pirates.

Sat Jul 1218:58Byron Buxton Continues to Shine, Hits for Cycle in Win
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton continues to shine in what is shaping up to be the best season of his professional career. Buxton hit for the cycle on Saturday, leading the Twins to a 12-4 win over the Pirates. He went a perfect 5-for-5, capping off the afternoon by taking Andrew Heaney deep in the seventh inning. The 31-year-old now has 21 home runs and 17 stolen bases on the year, delivering the elite five-tool production that injuries have often kept out of reach. With his value peaking, Buxton managers might consider selling high heading into the second half.

Fri Jul 1118:52Byron Buxton Returns on Friday
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hand) is back in center field and will bat in his customary leadoff spot for Friday's series opener at Target Field against the visiting Pittsburgh Pirates and right-hander Paul Skenes. Buxton was hit by a pitch on his left hand in Wednesday's win over the Chicago Cubs, but thankfully he didn't suffer any fractures and will return on Friday after sitting out on Thursday. Although the matchup isn't an ideal one, Buxton enters Friday's action as one of five players to lead their team in home runs (20), RBI (53) and stolen bases (17). The 31-year-old veteran is hitting .270/.338/.544 with an .881 OPS while also scoring 60 runs in 285 at-bats. If Buxton can stay healthy in the second half, 2025 should easily be a career year for him. In eight games in July so far, he's gone 5-for-29 (.172) with a homer, two doubles, two RBI and two steals.

Thu Jul 1012:28Byron Buxton Sitting Thursday
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hand) won't be in the team's lineup for their series finale against the visiting Chicago Cubs. The veteran was plunked by a pitch in Wednesday's 4-2 victory over Chicago and forced from the contest early. Initial X-rays returned negative, but it appears he'll still need some time to recover from the contusion. Teammate Harrison Bader will patrol center field in his stead with Willi Castro moving up to the leadoff spot as Minnesota goes for the sweep. After a slow beginning to the season, Buxton was red-hot through May and June, boasting a .312 average with 13 home runs, eight steals, 34 RBI, and 30 runs scored. He's cooled quite a bit in July (.172) but is still on pace to set career-highs in homers and steals, and record his first 20/20 season in the majors.

Wed Jul 921:05Byron Buxton Exits After Hit-by-Pitch, X-Rays Negative
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (hand) departed the team's game against the Chicago Cubs on Wednesday after suffering a left-hand contusion on a hit by pitch. X-rays came back negative for a fracture, and Buxton is considered day-to-day, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports. Buxton led off the bottom of the first inning against Cubs starter Cade Horton with the HBP, but he stayed in until the Twins pinch-hit Brooks Lee for him in the second. The two-time All-Star stole a base and scored a run before exiting. Buxton has an extensive injury history that has prevented him from reaching his full potential, though it appears he dodged disaster in this case. The 31-year-old has stayed healthy for most of this season and posted fantastic production. He's hitting .270/.338/.544 with 20 homers, 53 RBI, 60 runs, and 17 steals across 320 plate appearances.

Buxton continued the fun with another solo blast in the sixth inning. He finished his day 3-for-5 with two homers, two RBI, one stolen base, and a walk in the loss. Buxton did a little bit of everything in this game, but sadly it wasn't enough to get the win. Buxton now has four homers over his last three games as the veteran outfielder is finally coming around with the bat. He finished this game 3-for-6 with two homers, two RBI, and a double in the win. When healthy, Buxton is a stud, but keeping him healthy has been a problem.

Tue Jun 1714:52Byron Buxton Returns to Twins Lineup
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (elbow) is back in center field and hitting leadoff for the Twins for their contest on Tuesday in Cincinnati against the Reds and left-hander Andrew Abbott. However, the 31-year-old is feeling better after an off day on Monday and will return for Tuesday's series opener at Great American Ballpark. Fantasy managers will want to get Buxton back into their lineups this week. He is hitting .306 (11-for-36) in 11 games this month with a homer, three doubles, 11 RBI, three steals and three runs scored. Buxton has never faced Abbott in his career, but he's gone 11-for-36 (.306) with two of his 11 home runs on the year against left-handed hurlers.

Buxton was pulled from Saturday's contest after being hit by a pitch in the elbow. While he was initially in Sunday's lineup, the team will opt to exercise caution and give him an extra day off. Fantasy managers should continue to keep an eye on his status leading up to their next game on Tuesday against the Cincinnati Reds. Instead, the Twins will give Harrison Bader the starting nod in center field. Sat Jun 1418:07Byron Buxton Exits Early on Saturday
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton (elbow) was forced to make an early exit during Saturday's game against the Houston Astros. Buxton initially remained in the game after getting hit by a pitch in the sixth inning. He was pulled out about an inning later, assuming due to elbow discomfort. The expectation is that Buxton will undergo further testing to determine the severity of the injury. Before exiting, Buxton went 0-for-2 with a stolen base and was hit by a pitch. Harrison Bader took over in center field and is likely to see increased playing time if Buxton misses any action. Wed Jun 1123:02Byron Buxton Fills Box Score in Victory
Minnesota Twins outfielder Byron Buxton had a huge Wednesday night to help the team to a 6-2 win over the Texas Rangers. His most noteworthy contribution came with the Twins trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the third inning. Buxton stepped to the plate with two on and hit a mammoth 479-foot home run off right-hander Jack Leiter to give the Twins the lead. It was the highlight of a dominant game for Buxton, who went 3-for-3 with a double, a walk, and a stolen base. Buxton, fresh off back-to-back three-hit nights, is now slashing a robust .279/.339/.518 with 11 homers, 41 RBI, 38 runs, and 11 steals in 221 plate appearances. As always, the question is whether the uber-talented Buxton will be able to stay healthy. Injuries have limited the 31-year-old to just two 100-game seasons in his career. With 51 appearances so far, he has held up well this year and provided high-end production.
