Wed Jul 30 | 10:32 | Astros Interested in Carlos Correa, Nolan Arenado, Eugenio Suarez |
On the eve of Thursday's trade deadline, the Houston Astros are showing interest in Minnesota Twins shortstop Carlos Correa, St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado, and Arizona Diamondbacks third baseman Eugenio Suarez, Bob Nightengale of USA Today reports. The most interesting possibility here may be Correa, who began his career in Houston and flourished as a member of the team. Correa, the No. 1 overall pick in the 2012 draft, debuted with the Astros in 2015. He played with the club through 2021 and took home Rookie of the Year honors, made two All-Star teams, and won a World Series in their uniform before signing with the Twins in free agency. He's now in the fourth season of a six-year, $200 million contract, which looks pricey considering his output in 2025. Correa has batted a pedestrian .267/.319/.386 with seven homers, 31 RBI, and 40 runs scored in his age-30 campaign, and he hasn't gone yard in any of his 20 games this month. Correa has a full no-trade clause, but he still lives in Houston in the offseason and would waive it to return there, according to Nightengale. With that said, the Astros do have an established shortstop in Jeremy Pena (ribs), who should return from the 10-day injured list soon after missing over a month with a small rib fracture. Correa and Pena have exclusively played short in the majors, so the Astros would have to find a way to make that work. It seems likely that Correa would take over at third with ... [ More] |

Mon Jul 21 | 11:37 | Nolan Arenado Unlikely to be Traded |
The St. Louis Cardinals are planning to hold on to third baseman Nolan Arenado through the trade deadline, with "no teams showing strong interest in him," according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. Arenado previously rejected trades to both the Houston Astros and the Los Angeles Angels, which could be discouraging teams from engaging in trade negotiations with St. Louis. The 34-year-old Arenado is far removed from the player he was at his peak. In 358 plate appearances so far this season, he's slashed .241/.299/.381 with 10 home runs, 42 RBI, and 39 runs scored. His .140 isolated slugging percentage and 4.1% barrel rate both demonstrate his diminished ability to consistently drive the baseball. With two seasons and $37 million remaining for an acquiring team to pay following 2025, there may not be much of a market for Arenado even if he were willing to be moved. |

Fri Jul 18 | 20:31 | Nolan Arenado Ready for Second Half |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (finger) is back in the starting lineup to kick off the second half of the season in Friday's series opener against the Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Brandon Pfaadt at Chase Field, starting at third base and batting fifth. Arenado is returning after missing the final two games of the first half of the year with a sprained right index finger. The 34-year-old eight-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove winner remains St. Louis' starting third baseman, but he's no longer in the prime of his career and continues to see a drop in his power numbers. Through 84 games in the first half in his fifth year with the Red Birds, Arenado slashed a mediocre .246/.305/.388 with a career-worst .693 OPS, 10 home runs, 42 RBI and 39 runs scored in 347 plate appearances. He has hit .286 with a homer and three RBI in seven career at-bats against Pfaadt. |

Sat Jul 12 | 11:58 | Nolan Arenado Held Out of Lineup on Saturday |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (finger) is not in the lineup for his team's game on Saturday afternoon against the Atlanta Braves. Arenado exited the Cardinals' loss to Atlanta on Friday night with a sprained right index finger so this news comes as no surprise. The veteran has been battling discomfort in the finger for several weeks but has yet to hit the injured list. For the season, Arenado has slashed .246/.305/.388 with 10 home runs and 42 RBI. His strikeout rate is a career-best 9.8%, but his 4.3% barrel rate is underwhelming, as is his .378 xSLG. He's a borderline fantasy option at this point in his career who needs everyday playing time to volume his way to production. |

Sat Jul 12 | 09:43 | Nolan Arenado Exits Friday's Contest With Sprained Finger |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (finger) exited Friday's 6-5 loss to Atlanta with a sprained right index finger. The eight-time All-Star missed a few games recently due to soreness in that same finger, so hopefully this does not become something that lands him on the injured list. Arenado is slashing .246/.305/.388 on the year, and although his strikeout rate is at a career low (9.8 percent), his barrel rate, hard-hit rate, and average exit velocity are also hovering near career lows, so it might not get much better for the remainder of the season. Perhaps an IL stint or even just the All-Star break will get his finger right, though. |

Wed Jul 9 | 16:26 | Nolan Arenado Back in Action for Cardinals |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) is back at third base and will hit fifth on Wednesday against the visiting Washington Nationals and left-hander MacKenzie Gore. Arenado will return to the hot corner after missing the last three games with a right-shoulder impingement. The 34-year-old has been beat up of late, as he also missed a few games last week with a minor finger injury. The matchup isn't a great one for DFS purposes, although Arenado has hit .444 with a home run and five RBI in his career against Gore in nine at-bats. Arenado has been cold offensively of late, going 6-for-28 (.214) with two doubles, two RBI, a run scored, one walk and two strikeouts in eight games played since June 24. He does have 41 RBI in 81 games for St. Louis this year, but Arenado is hitting a modest .248 (76-for-307), and his power (10 homers) continues to dwindle. |

Wed Jul 9 | 10:12 | Nolan Arenado Expected to Return Wednesday |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) plans to return to the lineup on Wednesday against the Washington Nationals, Daniel Guerrero of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports. Arenado hasn't played since he suffered an impingement in his right shoulder last Friday. The 34-year-old explained that hitting caused the injury. "Throwing feels great," he told Guerrero. "I played long toss two days ago on Sunday night, and it felt amazing. Just hitting, kind of going across the body doesn't feel great." Arenado has slashed a modest .244/.304/.391 with 10 home runs and 41 RBI in 336 plate appearances this year. |

Tue Jul 8 | 14:52 | Nolan Arenado Remains Out on Tuesday |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game against the Washington Nationals. Nolan Gorman will take Arenado's place at third and bat fifth versus Nationals right-hander Jake Irvin. Arenado hasn't played since he suffered a right-shoulder impingement in a loss to the Chicago Cubs last Friday. He sat out both of the Cardinals' games over the weekend, but there was optimism that he would return for the start of the Washington series. Instead, Arenado will miss at least one more game. |

Sun Jul 6 | 16:10 | Nolan Arenado Out Again Sunday |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) is out of the starting lineup on Sunday against the Chicago Cubs. Arenado is dealing with a right shoulder impingement that also forced him to sit out Saturday's contest. The 34-year-old downplayed the severity of the injury Sunday, telling reporters that he feels "drastically better" than he did on Saturday. The Cardinals are off on Monday, but Arenado could return Tuesday against the Washington Nationals. Thomas Saggese is starting at third and batting seventh for the Cardinals on Sunday against Cubs left-hander Matthew Boyd. |

Sat Jul 5 | 13:32 | Nolan Arenado Scratched from Saturday's Lineup |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (shoulder) was scratched from Saturday's lineup due to a right shoulder impingement when they continue a series against the Chicago Cubs. Arenado was held out of action earlier in the week due to a finger injury and now appears to have another injury. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status leading up to Sunday's contest as he could he held out of action for a few games. After a productive stretch in June, Arenado has taken a step back over his last eight games, holding a low .179/.207/.250 slash line with just two doubles and two RBI. Before this skid, he held a much higher .344/.382/.547 line over his last 10. This afternoon, the Cardinals will have Thomas Saggese cover the hot corner and bat in the five-hole. |

Fri Jul 4 | 12:28 | Nolan Arenado, Willson Contreras Re-enter Starting Nine |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (finger) and first baseman Willson Contreras (hand, wrist) are back in the team's lineup for the start of a three-game set with the hosting Chicago Cubs. Arenado sprained his finger over the weekend and had to miss the Cards' previous two games, but he'll rejoin the squad ahead of a critical series with Chicago and bat sixth. Contreras, on the other hand, was plunked by a pitch in Tuesday's outing against the Pirates and missed just one contest with a contusion. He'll operate from the four-hole and across the diamond from Arenado at first base. Christian Encarnacion-Strand will take a seat with the two returning. |

Wed Jul 2 | 10:51 | Nolan Arenado Out of Lineup on Wednesday |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (finger) will miss his second consecutive game on Wednesday against the Pittsburgh Pirates as he battles a finger injury. Thomas Saggese will take his place at third base and bat sixth today after Nolan Gorman started at the hot corner Tuesday night. Arenado sprained his right index finger over the weekend, but the team still hopes he can avoid an IL stint. The Cardinals have an off day on Thursday before beginning a crucial three-game set at Wrigley Field against the Chicago Cubs over the weekend. |

Tue Jul 1 | 18:14 | Nolan Arenado Dealing with Finger Sprain |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (finger) will be held out of Tuesday's starting lineup against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates. According to Katie Woo, Arenado is dealing with a sprained right finger that he suffered over the weekend. For now, Arenado is considered day-to-day and will hopefully avoid a trip to the injured list. There's a good chance that Arenado sits out Wednesday as well with a scheduled off day on Thursday. That means that Arenado would get a few days off to recover before beginning an important weekend series against the Chicago Cubs. Nolan Gorman will bat fifth and cover third base versus right-hander Paul Skenes on Tuesday. |

Tue Jul 1 | 15:51 | Nolan Arenado Sitting Against Pirates |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado is absent from the team's starting lineup for Tuesday's game on the road against the division-rival Pittsburgh Pirates. Nolan Gorman will make the start at the hot corner and will bat fifth against Pirates right-hander Paul Skenes. Arenado jammed his right index finger in Sunday's series finale against the Cleveland Guardians and was removed from the game as a precaution before serving as the designated hitter in Monday's series-opening loss to the Bucs. It's possible that his finger could still be bothering him, but we'd expect Arenado to be back in there on Wednesday. Gorman has hit .267 (8-for-30) with three home runs, seven RBI, five runs scored and a stolen base in his last eight games, but DFS managers will probably be looking to avoid him against one of the most dominant young pitchers in the game on Tuesday in Skenes. |

Mon Jun 30 | 15:10 | Nolan Arenado Playing in Series Opener |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (finger) is at the hot corner and is batting fifth for Monday's series opener in Pittsburgh against the division-rival Pirates and left-hander Andrew Heaney at PNC Park. Arenado was lifted early as a precaution in Sunday's series finale against the Cleveland Guardians after he jammed his right index finger while running to first base. The injury wasn't a serious one, but it will be worth watching to see if it affects the 34-year-old veteran at the plate to close out the first half of the season. Arenado has gone hitless in nine career at-bats against Heaney and is in just the 26th percentile in expected slugging percentage. The eight-time All-Star's power is down for a second straight season (10 homers in 79 games), but he has been better at the plate in June, slashing .283/.317/.434 with four homers, three doubles, 14 RBI and 14 runs in 26 games. |

Mon Jun 30 | 09:34 | Nolan Arenado Exits Sunday's Contest Due to a Jammed Finger |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (finger) exited Sunday's contest due to a jammed right index finger, John Denton of MLB.com reports. The removal of Arenado in this contest seemed to be a precautionary measure, as the Cardinals were winning 5-0 at the time, and perhaps wanted to get their 10-time Gold Glover some additional rest. Arenado also said after the game that he doesn't believe the injury to be anything serious, suggesting he should be back in the lineup Monday against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Nonetheless, fantasy managers will want to monitor his status leading up to the first pitch. Arenado is slashing .249/.309/.399 with 10 home runs, 38 runs scored, and 41 RBI on the season with an elite 10.3 percent strikeout rate. |

Fri Jun 20 | 01:12 | Nolan Arenado Homers, Collects Three Hits in Second Half of Doubleheader |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado had a big game in the second half of the Cards' doubleheader with the Chicago White Sox on Thursday, going 3-for-5 with a homer and two RBI. Arenado helped get his team out to an early lead by homering in the third, and they would eventually win 6-5, although they did need a 10th inning to do so. The veteran infielder has been a little better at the dish recently, and has finally seen his OPS rise above .700 for the first time since May 28. On the season, Arenado has a .247 AVG, 34 runs, nine homers, 38 RBI, and one steal. Even with the recent upswing, he's been pretty disappointing and is borderline droppable in standard-sized leagues. |

Wed May 28 | 00:48 | Nolan Arenado Hits Go-Ahead Homer In Return To Action Tuesday |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (ribs) looked just fine in Tuesday's 7-4 win over the Orioles. Arenado, who missed Monday's game with sore ribs after falling into the crowd to make a catch on Sunday, went 2-for-5 with a single and a solo home run. The 34-year-old broke a 4-4 tie in the eighth inning by launching a first-pitch Bryan Baker slider into the Splash Zone in left field. Despite the heroics Tuesday, the veteran has put together lackluster numbers on the season, slashing .238/.308/.394 with six HR and 26 RBI in 214 plate appearances. While Arenado has been a solid fantasy contributor throughout his career, he has not impacted the ball well this season, so age may be finally catching up to him. |

Tue May 27 | 16:24 | Nolan Arenado Back in Action Versus Orioles |
St. Louis Cardinals third baseman Nolan Arenado (ribs) is manning the hot corner and batting sixth for Tuesday's game in Baltimore against the Orioles and right-hander Tomoyuki Sugano. Arenado was dealing with sore ribs after falling into the crowd to make a catch on Sunday and sat out of Monday's series opener at Camden Yards as a precaution. Now that the 34-year-old is back in there, fantasy managers can get him back into their starting lineups. Arenado's decline in offensive production has continued into the 2025 season, as he enters Tuesday's contest sporting a .234/.306/.378 slash line with a below-average .684 OPS, five home runs, 25 RBI, 23 runs scored and one steal in 188 at-bats. In his last nine games since May 16, Arenado has gone 5-for-34 (.147) with a home run, triple, eight RBI, two runs scored and six strikeouts. He has never faced Sugano in his career. |

Mon May 26 | 13:20 | Nolan Arenado Out With Rib Soreness, Expected to Return on Tuesday |
St. Louis Cardinals star third baseman Nolan Arenado (kidney, rib) is out of the team's starting lineup on Monday against the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards due to kidney/rib soreness from falling into the crowd on a catch on Sunday. "Overall, I feel OK. Should be fine by tomorrow, just kind of stiff today. So I'm just gonna get some treatment and then go from there. But tomorrow I should be okay," Arenado said. Nolan Gorman will start at third base and hit seventh on Monday against Orioles right-hander Charlie Morton. Arenado is hitting only .222 (18-for-81) with two homers, a double, triple, 12 RBI and 10 runs scored in 21 games in the month of May. Fantasy managers will want to check back on Tuesday to make sure he's actually back in action as the series in Baltimore continues. Gorman has two hits in four career at-bats against Morton but is hitting .171 (14-for-82) on the year with a homer and nine RBI. |
