Wed Jul 2316:52Nathan Eovaldi Listed as Probable Starter for Friday
The Texas Rangers have listed right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (back) as their probable start for Friday's series opener against the Atlanta Braves, according to Kennedi Landry of MLB.com. Eovaldi will be followed by young pitchers Kumar Rocker and Jack Leiter on Saturday and Sunday, respectively. The 35-year-old veteran will be making his return to the mound after he was scratched from his last start last weekend with back tightness. Eovaldi will have had ample rest, he last pitched before the All-Star break, and he'll be facing a Braves team that isn't all that scary outside of Ronald Acuna Jr. in the lineup. Atlanta ranks 19th in MLB in OPS at .706, while Eovaldi has been lights-out in his 16 starts for Texas this year with a 7-3 record, 1.58 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 94 strikeouts in 91 innings pitched. Still, there will be more risk involved with Eovaldi in his first start back.

Tue Jul 2218:31Nathan Eovaldi Cleared for Wednesday's Start
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (back) has been cleared to take the mound for Wednesday's contest against the Athletics. Eovaldi was scratched ahead of his start on Sunday due to back tightness. He received a few days off rest and is now ready to take the mound again without any restrictions. Eovaldi holds a 1.58 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, and a 94/14 K/BB ratio across 16 starts this season. He needs to be rostered and started in all fantasy formats ahead of this outing against the A's.UPDATE: Manager Bruce Bochy said that Eovaldi will either start on Wednesday against the A's or on Friday in the series opener against the Atlanta Braves.

Tue Jul 2200:30Nathan Eovaldi Targeting Wednesday For Next Start
Texas Rangers president of baseball operations Chris Young said Monday that the team is "targeting Wednesday" for starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (back) to make his next start, per Dallas News' Shawn McFarland. Eovaldi was scratched from Sunday's start against the Tigers due to back stiffness. The 35-year-old has dealt with injuries throughout his career but has been outstanding this season, going 7-3 with a 1.58 ERA, a 0.85 WHIP, and a 27.0% strikeout rate in 16 starts and 91 innings pitched. If all goes well, he would line up for a start against a strong Athletics lineup. While the veteran has been excellent this season, the tough matchup and his questionable health could encourage fantasy managers to sit him if he takes the mound.

Sat Jul 1922:20Nathan Eovaldi Scratched Sunday, Jacob Latz to Start
Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (back) will not make his scheduled start on Sunday because of back stiffness, manager Bruce Bochy announced. The Rangers will instead turn to left-hander Jacob Latz against the Detroit Tigers. Eovaldi missed most of June with elbow inflammation, but he has been superb over 16 starts. The 35-year-old has gone 7-3 with a 1.58 ERA, a 0.85 WHIP, and 94:14 K:BB across 91 innings. Latz has performed well in his own right, having recorded a 3.00 ERA with a 1.21 WHIP and 48:21 K:BB in 48 frames. However, he has typically gone three or fewer innings in the vast majority of his 21 appearances.

Mon Jul 1403:46Nathan Eovaldi Dominant Again in Seventh Win
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (7-3) pitched into the eighth inning on Sunday, allowing just one run and picking up the win against the Houston Astros. Eovaldi scattered five hits, walked one, and struck out eight over 7 IP in what was another convincing performance. The 35-year-old veteran is having a career season, with a lights-out 1.58 ERA and 0.85 WHIP supported by a 94:14 K:BB ratio over 91 IP. Regression is almost certain with numbers like that, but even with that baked in, he should still be considered a must-start fantasy option regardless of matchup. Eovaldi is in line to face the Detroit Tigers next Sunday, but things could change if the Rangers' rotation gets shuffled after the All-Star break.

Fri Jun 2723:52Nathan Eovaldi Struggles in Return from Injury
Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi had a rough outing against the Seattle Mariners on Friday in his return from a triceps injury. Making his first start since May 27, Eovaldi lasted just three innings and yielded three earned runs on five hits with two strikeouts against two walks over 45 pitches. Eovaldi didn't factor into the decision in a 7-6 loss for the Rangers. Despite Friday's subpar outing, Eovaldi still owns a stingy 1.87 ERA (2.38 FIP) with an elite 0.87 WHIP and 75:12 K:BB in 72 1/3 frames. The 35-year-old will try to bounce back Wednesday at home against the Baltimore Orioles.

Fri Jun 2710:47Nathan Eovaldi Returning on Friday
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) will be activated off the 15-day injured list and start Friday's game against the Seattle Mariners. As expected, Eovaldi will make his return to the mound after being sidelined since the beginning of June due to a right triceps injury. He threw a few simulated games, but didn't need a rehab assignment before returning to the rotation. Eovaldi has been excellent with a 1.56 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, and 73/10 K/BB ratio across 12 starts this season. Fantasy managers should activate him off their IL and get him in their lineups ahead of first pitch.

Mon Jun 2309:29Nathan Eovaldi Possibly Back in the Rotation Friday
Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) next start will likely be with the big league club, not on a rehab assignment. It probably won't be in Baltimore, but playing at home against Seattle on Friday sounds reasonable, Kennedi Landry, Rangers' beat writer, reports. Eovaldi threw a 50-pitch simulated game last Friday, and by what Bochy mentioned, it appears that the Rangers were content with the simulated game and don't feel Eovaldi needs to complete a rehab assignment to get back in the rotation. Considering he only threw 50 pitches in the simulated game, it's likely that if Eovaldi starts on Friday, he will be on a pitch count. Regardless, fantasy managers will be pleased to get Eovaldi back in their lineups, as he has been dominant in 2025 with a 1.56 ERA, 73 strikeouts, and a 0.81 WHIP in 69 1/3 innings pitched.

Sat Jun 2114:44Nathan Eovaldi Could Rejoin Rangers Next Week
Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) threw 50-plus pitches over three simulated innings of live batting practice Saturday, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports. Eovaldi could rejoin the Rangers' rotation during the upcoming week if he doesn't suffer any setbacks, according to Landry. The Rangers have gone all of June without Eovaldi, who hasn't pitched since May 27 because of an injured right triceps. Before he landed on the shelf, Eovaldi performed like one of the top starters in baseball. The 35-year-old opened the season with an elite 1.56 ERA (3.37 xERA) and 73 strikeouts against 10 walks in 69 1/3 innings.

Fri Jun 1309:16Nathan Eovaldi Hoping to Throw a Bullpen Saturday or Sunday
Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) recently returned to Arlington for further diagnostics. He has been playing catch over the last few days, and the club hopes he'll throw a bullpen session sometime Saturday or Sunday. His rehab appears to be progressing as expected. Eovaldi was removed from his start on May 27 with the injury, and considering the location of the injury, this is positive news coming from the Rangers' clubhouse, as Eovaldi seems to be moving in the right direction and possibly could return to the mound in the next couple of weeks after a few bullpens. At this point, it's unclear if the Rangers will have him make a rehab start in the minors or not. Fantasy managers will want to keep tabs on how his bullpen goes over the weekend.

Wed Jun 1119:06Nathan Eovaldi Plays Catch on Wednesday
Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) took a step in the right direction on Wednesday by playing catch, according to DLLS Sports' Jeff Wilson. The Rangers are still unsure when Eovaldi will return from the 15-day injured list, though. He is eligible to come back this Friday, but that isn't going to happen since he hasn't gotten back on a mound yet following a right-triceps injury that put him on the shelf on May 29. In the meantime, Jacob Latz could remain in Texas' starting rotation. The 35-year-old should remain stashed in all fantasy formats, and hopefully he'll be able to return from the IL before the end of June. In his first 12 starts of the year in 2025, Eovaldi had gone 4-3 with a 1.56 ERA (2.32 FIP) and league-best 0.81 WHIP with 73 strikeouts and 10 walks in 69 1/3 innings pitched. He should remain a high-floor fantasy starter whenever he returns.

Tue Jun 1019:36Nathan Eovaldi Expected to Throw Bullpen This Weekend
Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) is in Arlington to undergo further diagnostic testing on his injured triceps, manager Bruce Bochy announced. The Rangers expect Eovaldi to throw a bullpen session this weekend. Eovaldi went on the 15-day IL with tightness in his triceps on June 1 (retroactive to May 29), derailing a fantastic start to the season for the 35-year-old. He stormed out of the gates with 69 1/3 innings of 1.56 ERA ball (3.37 xERA) and 73 strikeouts against a meager 10 walks before his IL stint. While it's unknown when Eovaldi will return, the Rangers have suggested his IL placement was precautionary. If that's the case, he could be back in their rotation soon.

Sun Jun 112:48Nathan Eovaldi Going on 15-Day Injured List
The Texas Rangers are placing right-hander Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) on the 15-day injured list on Sunday with a right-triceps injury and are calling up right-hander Codi Heuer from the minors in a corresponding move. Additionally, the club designated catcher Tucker Barnhart for assignment. The Rangers were hoping to just push Eovaldi back after he experienced fatigue in his triceps muscle after his last outing on Tuesday, but the 35-year-old veteran will now have to miss at least the next two weeks. Eovaldi doesn't have any structural damage in his right arm, though, so the team is optimistic he'll be ready to return when he's eligible in mid-June. In the meantime, rookie right-hander Kumar Rocker (shoulder) figures to come off the IL and start in Eovaldi's place on Wednesday against the Tampa Bay Rays. Eovaldi has been strong for Texas so far in 2025 and should be stashed in fantasy leagues while he's on the shelf.

Fri May 3018:27Nathan Eovaldi's Next Start to be Pushed Back
Texas Rangers manager Bruce Bochy said that the team is going to push right-hander Nathan Eovaldi's (triceps) next start back a few days. Eovaldi is scheduled to go next on Tuesday in Tampa against the Rays, but the team has a scheduled day off on Monday, allowing others to pitch on regular rest. The 35-year-old veteran will now most likely make his next start next weekend versus the Washington Nationals in a good matchup for fantasy managers. Eovaldi left his last start early last Saturday against the Toronto Blue Jays due to triceps soreness. He'll certainly be more risky in fantasy lineups his next time out coming off the injury, but he's been excellent so far in 2025, not allowing more than three earned runs in any of his 12 starts. The two-time All-Star currently holds a pristine 1.56 ERA and 0.81 WHIP with 73 punchouts and only 10 walks in 69 1/3 innings pitched.

Tue May 2721:18Nathan Eovaldi Exits Start with Triceps Fatigue
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi (triceps) left Tuesday's start against the Blue Jays after only two innings due to triceps fatigue. It was a precautionary move, and he's not expected to miss time, reports Jared Sandler. He didn't allow a run through the two innings he did pitch, allowing two hits and striking out two, so nothing looked noticeably wrong when he was on the mound. He would be set to face the Rays in his next start on June 3, but the Rangers may opt to give him some extra rest before taking the mound again.

Sun May 1122:03Nathan Eovaldi Throws Seven Scoreless Innings
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi was dominant in a 6-1 win over the Tigers on Sunday, striking out seven over seven shutout innings while allowing two hits and one walk. This is the fourth straight start where he's allowed one run or less, and he's yet to give up more than three in a start all season. The 35-year-old has surprisingly been one of the best pitchers in baseball, and he now has a 1.78 ERA and 0.75 WHIP through 55 innings. A lot of that is thanks to his elite control, as his 2.2% walk rate ranks in the top one percent of the league. He'll look to keep things rolling in his next start, which is set to be against the Astros.

Wed May 707:00Nathan Eovaldi Strikes Out Seven Over Six One-Run Innings
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi was sharp during Tuesday's victory over the Boston Red Sox as he tossed six innings of one-run ball. He allowed just five hits and one free pass. He struck out seven batters. His lone blemish came in the sixth inning when Red Sox second baseman Kristian Campbell hit an RBI single. This was Eovaldi's fourth-straight contest, logging six innings of work. During this stretch, the right-hander has held an impressive 1.50 ERA with a 0.88 WHIP. Over these 24 innings, he has struck out 29 batters and served up just two free passes. Across 48 2/3 total innings of work, the 35-year-old has posted a 2.03 ERA with a 0.80 WHIP. Given his strong start to the campaign, fantasy managers should continue to view him as a must-start option in all formats.

Tue Apr 121:28Nathan Eovaldi Throws Complete Game Shutout
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi tossed a gem on Tuesday, shutting out the Reds in a 1-0 victory. He allowed four hits and struck out eight batters in his nine innings of work. He was extremely efficient, needing just 99 pitches to finish the game. This is his second quality start in a row to begin the season, as he struck out nine over six solid innings on Opening Day. The veteran was solid in 2024, posting a 3.80 and 1.11 WHIP in 170 innings. He can be volatile at times, but when everything is working right, he looks like an ace. He is a must-start fantasy option for the time being as he rides out this hot stretch.

Fri Mar 2806:16Nathan Eovaldi Notches Nine Strikeouts in No-Decision
Texas Rangers starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi tossed six strong innings on Opening Day, but the bullpen gave up three runs in the ninth to the Red Sox in the team's 5-2 defeat. Eovaldi left after six with the score tied 2-2 after giving up two runs on just three hits while striking out nine and walking no one. He earned his first quality start of the season and tied the club mark for the most K's by a starting pitcher on Opening Day in Rangers history. Eovaldi gave up eight runs in 13 innings in spring training, so it's encouraging to see the 35-year-old step up with this strong outing now that the games count. His next start lines up to be on the road in Cincinnati next week.

Sun Mar 1613:19Nathan Eovaldi Named Opening Day Starter
Texas Rangers right-hander Nathan Eovaldi will start the team's Opening Day game on March 27 against the visiting Boston Red Sox, manager Bruce Bochy announced on Sunday. It will be Eovaldi's fifth career Opening Day nod, and he'll also become the seventh pitcher in Rangers history to make consecutive Opening Day starts. The 35-year-old is not without injury questions, which is why he's ranked just outside RotoBaller's top-50 fantasy starting pitchers. Still, Eovaldi was respectable in his 29 starts for Texas in his second year with the team, going 12-8 with a 3.80 ERA (3.83 FIP), a 1.11 WHIP and 166:42 K:BB in 170 2/3 frames. Even though the two-time All-Star's 170 2/3 innings were his most since 2021, he still missed time with a groin issue and should be counted on for at least one stint on the injured list at some point, especially given his age. Eovaldi has a stable skill set and a decent floor for a back-end fantasy starter.
