Wed Sep 1721:09Trey Yesavage to Pitch This Weekend
Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Trey Yesavage will pitch in this weekend's series against the Kansas City Royals, manager John Schneider told reporters. However, Schneider is still undecided on whether Yesavage will start or work out of the bullpen. Max Scherzer, Shane Bieber, and Jose Berrios are currently penciled in to toe the rubber during the three-game set, but Schneider may opt to plug Yesavage in after he dazzled in his first major league start on Monday. The highly touted 22-year-old prospect threw five innings of one-run, three-hit ball and logged nine strikeouts against two walks in a 2-1 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. Yesavage now owns the Blue Jays' franchise record for most punchouts in a debut.

Tue Sep 1600:29Trey Yesavage Sets Franchise Strikeout Record On Monday
Toronto Blue Jays starting pitching prospect Trey Yesavage made an excellent first impression in Monday's 2-1 win over the Rays. Making his big-league debut, Yesavage pitched five innings, allowing one run on three hits and two walks with nine strikeouts. His over-the-top delivery and splitter helped him set the franchise record for most strikeouts in an MLB debut. Yesavage is the team's top prospect and is the No. 25 overall prospect, per MLB Pipeline. He put together strong numbers this season across four minor-league levels, compiling a 3.12 ERA, a 0.97 WHIP, and a ridiculous 41.1% strikeout rate in 98 IP. It remains to be seen how the Blue Jays will deploy Yesavage the rest of the way, but his next turn in the rotation would likely be a decent matchup at the Royals. Yesavage would be worth starting after his electric debut.
