The Athletics are promoting right-handed pitcher Eduarniel Nunez from Triple-A Las Vegas prior to their contest on Friday evening against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Nunez was included in the package that sent Mason Miller and JP Sears to the San Diego Padres. Nunez made his major league debut earlier this summer with the Padres and logged 4 2/3 innings of two-run ball with four hits and a 2:4 K:BB. He has spent the majority of the campaign split between Double-A and Triple-A. With Double-A, Nunez logged 22 2/3 innings with a 3.57 ERA and a 1.24 WHIP. However, at Triple-A, Nunez was quite impressive, tossing 12 1/3-straight shutout frames. Fantasy managers should expect Nunez to begin his tenure with the Athletics in a middle relief role in the bullpen.

The San Diego Padres have traded right-handed pitcher Eduarniel Nunez, Braden Nett, Henry Baez, and top prospect Leodalis De Vries to the Athletics in exchange for right-handed pitcher Mason Miller and left-hander JP Sears. Nunez made his MLB debut earlier this season and held a 3.86 ERA across a brief 4 2/3-inning stint. During this stretch, Nunez struck out just two hitters.
