Sat Jul 2614:14Brandyn Garcia Recalled for Diamondbacks Debut
The Arizona Diamondbacks announced that they have recalled left-handed reliever Brandyn Garcia from Triple-A Reno and designated right-hander Trevor Richards for assignment. Garcia, 25, is in line to debut with the Diamondbacks just two days after coming over in a trade that sent first baseman Josh Naylor to the Seattle Mariners. He made his first two major league appearances with the Mariners earlier this month and yielded two runs (one earned) on four hits with three walks against one strikeout over two innings. Garcia has fared well at two levels in the minors this year, having combined for a 3.51 ERA with 11.34 K/9 and 4.59 BB/9 in 33 1/3 frames between Double-A and Triple-A. MLB Pipeline ranks Garcia as the Diamondbacks' 16th-best prospect and notes that his sinker-sweeper combination should make him a viable reliever in the majors.

Fri Jul 2500:16Brandyn Garcia Sent To Arizona in Josh Naylor Trade
Seattle Mariners left-handed pitching prospect Brandyn Garcia was included in a trade package along with right-handed pitcher Ashton Izzi for Arizona Diamondbacks first baseman Josh Naylor on Thursday night. Garcia has split time between Double-A and Triple-A in a relief role this year, totaling a 3.51 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and a 16.8 percent strikeout-minus-walk percent between the two levels. The 25-year-old made two appearances in the majors this week against Milwaukee and had mixed results. He had a rough debut, allowing two runs on four hits and a walk with no strikeouts in an inning on Monday. Then he pitched a cleaner inning in relief on Wednesday, with no runs and two walks, and a strikeout. The lefty boasts a three-pitch mix, featuring a sinker that sits at 97 MPH. He complements it with a cutter and sweeper, and he consistently pounds the strike zone, as well as producing plenty of weak contact on the ground. He projects as a solid reliever with a foundational fastball in his new home in Arizona.

Mon Jul 2122:33Brandyn Garcia Called Up from Triple-A for MLB Debut
Seattle Mariners pitching prospect Brandyn Garcia was called up from Triple-A Tacoma on Monday for what will be his major league debut whenever he enters a game. The left-hander worked as a starter in 2024, but this year, between Double-A and Triple-A, he worked solely as a reliever. In 32 appearances (33 1/3 innings pitched) across both levels, the 6-foot-4 southpaw registered a 3.51 ERA, 1.38 WHIP, and a 16.8 percent K-BB%. He'll take on a low-leverage, middle relief role for the Mariners, and combined with a lack of strong strikeout numbers and elevated walk rates, there is little fantasy relevance here. Juan Burgos was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.
