Wed Sep 10 | 14:52 | Nolan Schanuel Hoping to Return Next Week |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) said that he's going to Arizona on Wednesday to ramp up his baseball activities and is hoping to be activated from the 10-day injured list at some point on the team's upcoming road trip (but not in Seattle this weekend), according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. It sounds like Schanuel might skip a minor-league rehab assignment, which means it's possible he could be back in the team's lineup as early as Monday in Milwaukee against the Brewers. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter has been out almost three weeks with a bone bruise on his left wrist, but he is almost ready to return as the starting first baseman to close out the season. Until Schanuel can return, Logan Davidson and Oswald Peraza will continue to split time at first base for the Angels. |

Tue Sep 2 | 12:41 | Nolan Schanuel Taking Swings |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) hit off a tee on Sunday and progressed to swinging in the batting cage on Monday. Schanuel, on the 10-day injured list with a bone bruise in his left wrist since Aug. 24, looks on track to return sometime this month. In his second full season in the majors, the 23-year-old has hit .266/.355/.383 with 10 homers, 49 RBI, 61 runs scored, and five stolen bases over 535 plate appearances. Although that production is closer to average than great, the Schanuel-less Angels have downgraded significantly at first base with a Niko Kavadas- Oswald Peraza platoon. Kavadas has hit .100/.217/.100 in 23 trips to the plate. Peraza, acquired from the New York Yankees on July 31, has put together a .157/.212/.249 line over198 plate appearances. |

Sun Aug 31 | 23:21 | Nolan Schanuel hasn't Resumed Baseball Activities |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) has not resumed baseball activities since he went on the 10-day injured list with a left-wrist contusion on Aug. 24, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Schanuel now looks likely to miss more than 10 days, and it's unclear when he'll be able to come back. The former 11th overall pick (2023) has hit .266/.355/.383 with 10 homers, 49 RBI, 61 runs scored, and five stolen bases in 535 plate appearances this season. The Angels have been going with a Niko Kavadas- Oswald Peraza tandem at first base in Schanuel's absence. |

Sun Aug 24 | 16:04 | Nolan Schanuel Goes on 10-Day Injured List |
The Los Angeles announced that they have placed first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) on the 10-day injured list with a left-wrist contusion and recalled outfielder Matthew Lugo from Triple-A Salt Lake. Schanuel exited the Angels' 12-1 loss to the Chicago Cubs on Saturday after injuring his wrist on a diving play in the field, and he'll now head to the IL for the first time in his career. The 23-year-old has appeared in 125 games this season and hit .266/.355/.383 with 10 homers, 49 RBI, 61 runs, and five stolen bases in 535 plate appearances. With Schanuel out on Sunday, Niko Kavadas will play first base and hit seventh against Cubs right-hander Jameson Taillon. |

Sun Aug 24 | 09:10 | Nolan Schanuel Leaves Early on Saturday |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) was forced to make an early exit from Saturday's game against the Chicago Cubs. Schanuel appeared to have injured his wrist while making a diving play during the second inning of Saturday's contest. He stayed in the game and went 0-for-2 at the plate before exiting the contest. Angels' manager Ray Montgomery said Schanuel will be re-evaluated on Sunday. That being said, fantasy managers should consider Schanuel day-to-day until more information is revealed. In the meantime, Niko Kavadas figures to see increased time over at first base. |

Mon Jul 21 | 19:05 | Nolan Schanuel Back in Monday's Lineup |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) is back at first base and is hitting second for Monday's series opener at Citi Field against the New York Mets and right-hander Kodai Senga. Schanuel left Sunday's win over the Philadelphia Phillies after being hit by a pitch on the left wrist, but thankfully he avoided any structural damage, and he's back in action a day later. The 23-year-old left-handed-hitting first baseman offers fantasy managers a decent average at .274 (96-for-351), but he lacks the power of most high-end first baseman with just eight homers on the season in 95 games played. Schanuel has added 40 RBI and 47 runs scored as the Angels' starting first baseman. Schanuel comes into Monday's game hitting .288 (17-for-59) with a homer, double, eight RBI, six runs scored and a stolen base in 15 games in July. |

Sun Jul 20 | 16:12 | Nolan Schanuel Exits with Wrist Contusion |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (wrist) exited their game against the Philadelphia Phillies on Sunday with a left-wrist contusion, the team announced. Schanuel suffered the injury on a hit by pitch in the first inning, and the Angels quickly replaced him with LaMonte Wade Jr. The 24-year-old Schanuel emerged as a mainstay in the Angels' lineup last season and has put together respectable numbers in 2025 despite below-average power. He's hitting .274/.364/.396 with eight homers, 40 RBI, 47 runs scored, and an impressive 47:44 K:BB in 407 plate appearances. Schanuel has never been on the injured list, but if he has to miss more time, Wade would likely fill his spot. |

Fri Jul 11 | 18:25 | Nolan Schanuel Returns to Action on Friday |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (calf) is starting at first base and batting second for Friday's series opener against the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks and right-hander Ryne Nelson. Schanuel was held out of Thursday's series finale against the Texas Rangers as a precaution due to tightness in his calf, but he's feeling fine a day later and will return for the start of the final series of the first half of the regular season. The 23-year-old left-handed hitter has gone 9-for-38 (.237) with a homer, seven RBI and two runs scored in nine games so far in the month of July. On the season, he's hitting .267/.356/.394 and lacks high-end power (eight home runs) that most fantasy managers are looking for at the first base position. Elsewhere, Schanuel ranks in the sixth percentile in hard-hit rate and the 55th percentile in xwOBA. |

Thu Jul 10 | 21:02 | Nolan Schanuel Out of Lineup with Calf Tightness |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (calf) is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Texas Rangers with tightness in his right calf. Schanuel has been dealing with the issue over the past few days, according to Erica Weston of FanDuel Sports Network West. The 23-year-old is just 9-for-38 in nine games this month, though he's hitting a respectable .267/.356/.394 with eight home runs, 39 RBI, and 43 runs in 382 plate appearances this season. With Schanuel on the bench, the Angels are starting LaMonte Wade Jr. at first base and batting him ninth against Rangers left-hander Patrick Corbin. |

Mon Jun 23 | 07:25 | Nolan Schanuel Doubles, Homers, Drives in Four on Sunday |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel had a huge game in an 8-7 loss to the Houston Astros on Sunday. Schanuel went 3-for-5 with a double, a homer, and four RBI, but it wasn't quite enough in the one-run loss to Houston. The 23-year-old infielder gave the Angels a 5-4 lead with his three-run homer in the fifth inning, giving him six home runs on the season. Overall, Schanuel is slashing .283/.372/.412 with 39 runs, 30 RBI, and three steals across 272 at-bats on the season. He is hitting .313 with three homers over his past 15 games and is worth a look in deeper fantasy leagues while he's hot at the plate. |

Tue Apr 29 | 18:13 | Nolan Schanuel Back In Action For Angels |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (knee) is back at first base and is batting in the two-hole for Tuesday's contest against the division-rival Seattle Mariners and right-hander Bryce Miller at T-Mobile Park. Schanuel bruised his right knee on Saturday when he fouled a pitch off of it against the Minnesota Twins, and he was held out of Sunday's lineup as a result. But after a day off on Monday, the 23-year-old left-handed hitter will return to the starting nine. The former 11th overall pick in 2023 out of Florida Atlantic University comes into Tuesday's contest slashing a mediocre .247/.327/.382 with a .709 OPS, two home runs, eight RBI and 11 runs scored in 89 at-bats. Schanuel has gone hitless in his last 11 plate appearances with four strikeouts in four games and is hitless in five career at-bats against Miller. |

Sun Apr 27 | 13:01 | Nolan Schanuel's Knee Is Feeling Better |
After fouling a pitch off his knee on Saturday, Los Angeles' first baseman Nolan Schanuel was removed from the game against the Minnesota Twins. It does not sound too serious, as he underwent further testing, and there is no structural damage. On Sunday, Schanuel also mentioned that he is feeling better. For the time being, he is considered day to day. J.D. Davis will fill in at first base for the Angels while Schanuel recovers. The Angels have an off day on Monday, so that should help give Schanuel an extra day off before they hit the road to Seattle to take on their division rival, the Mariners, in a two-game series. |

Sun Apr 27 | 11:43 | Nolan Schanuel Absent On Sunday |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (knee) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Minnesota Twins. This comes as little surprise after Schanuel was removed from Saturday's game after fouling a ball off his knee. The team hasn't placed him on the injured list, but the Angels are likely waiting to do anything until the testing comes back. For now, fantasy managers should consider Schanuel as day-to-day. J.D. Davis will take over at first base and bat seventh versus right-hander Joe Ryan on Sunday. Fantasy managers will need to check back for another update on Schanuel. |

Sat Apr 26 | 18:50 | Nolan Schanuel Makes Early Exit On Saturday |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (knee) was forced to exit early during Saturday's game against the Minnesota Twins. Yikes, Schanuel needed to be helped off the field after fouling a ball off his knee during Saturday's contest. The team is calling it a knee contusion, but the assumption is that Schanuel will undergo further testing to determine the severity of the issue. Fantasy managers should consider Schanuel as day-to-day until more information is revealed. J.D. Davis took over at first base and could see more time over there if Schanuel is forced to miss time. |

Fri Feb 28 | 08:07 | Nolan Schanuel Hopes To Improve Bat Speed |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel worked to improve his bat speed during the offseason. Last season, the former 11th overall pick in the 2023 MLB Draft placed in the second percentile in bat speed (65.2 mph). He generated a weak 25.4 percent hard-hit rate and a 3.5 percent barrel rate which placed him in the fourth and ninth percentiles respectively. Across a career-high 147 contests last season, Schanuel held a .250/.343/.362 line with 13 home runs and 10 stolen bases. However, despite the modest power outputs, the Florida Atlantic showed a strong eye at the plate as he drew walks at an 11.2 percent rate and only struck out at a 17.0 percent rate. Fantasy managers should expect Schanuel to operate as the starting first baseman in Los Angeles and could be worth a look in deeper formats if he shows power improvement during spring training. |

Thu Feb 20 | 12:27 | Jo Adell, Nolan Schanuel To Play In Spring Opener |
MLB.com's Rhett Bollinger reports that Los Angeles Angels outfielder Jo Adell (oblique) and first baseman Nolan Schanuel (leg) are both scheduled to play in the team's Cactus League opener on Saturday against the division-rival Seattle Mariners. Adell is fully recovered from the left-oblique strain that caused him to end last season on the injured list. The 25-year-old will be fully ready for Opening Day and will be competing with Mickey Moniak for regular playing time in center field this year in Anaheim with Mike Trout (knee) moving to right field regularly. Adell isn't going to help anyone in the batting average department, but his mix of power and speed is worth taking a chance on for outfield depth in fantasy. Schanuel dealt with a bruised right leg to end last season but is also fully healthy and ready to go. The 23-year-old lefty lacks the power to be considered a realistic option in shallow mixed fantasy leagues. |

Thu Sep 26 2024 | 12:25 | Nolan Schanuel, Jordyn Adams Out On Thursday |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (leg) and outfielder Jordyn Adams (knee) are both out of the lineup on Thursday for the series finale against the Chicago White Sox at Guaranteed Rate Field. Schanuel fouled a ball of his right lower leg in Wednesday's loss to the White Sox and will miss at least one day of action as a result. The 22-year-old is considered day-to-day for now and will be hoping to play at some point in the final weekend series of the year against the division-rival Texas Rangers. Adams, meanwhile, has been out for a whole week with soreness in his right knee. At this point with just three games remaining, we may not see the 24-year-old again in 2024. Brandon Drury is at first base and batting cleanup, while Gustavo Camero is in right field and is batting seventh for the Halos on Thursday against White Sox right-hander Chris Flexen. |

Wed Sep 25 2024 | 22:37 | Nolan Schanuel Exits With Leg Contusion |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel fouled a ball off of his right shin during the first inning of Wednesday's road contest versus the White Sox. The 22-year-old would later strike out in the at-bat but would be done for the night after that. Brandon Drury entered the game for Schanuel and for now, he is being considered day-to-day with what is being called a lower leg contusion. Schanuel had been hitting well in September, with a hitless game on Tuesday ending a 13-game hit streak. If this is the former first-round draft pick's final game of 2024, he finishes with a .251-13-54-62-10 line in 606 plate appearances. |

Tue Aug 27 2024 | 16:24 | Nolan Schanuel Returns To Action On Tuesday |
As expected, Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (back) has returned to the starting lineup on Tuesday at Comerica Park against the Detroit Tigers and left-hander Brant Hurter, and he is playing first base and batting third for the Halos. Schanuel was held out of the final two games of the series over the weekend against the Toronto Blue Jays due to a minor back injury. The 22-year-old second-year player will return to the lineup for the start of a series in Motown. The former 11th overall pick out of Florida Atlantic has gotten on base this year at a decent clip (.348), but otherwise has left a lot to be desired for fantasy managers. Schanuel has also hit just .228 (23-for-101) with only three of his 12 home runs on the year against left-handed pitchers, so we would recommend looking for better upside plays at the position in DFS on Tuesday. |

Sun Aug 25 2024 | 12:55 | Nolan Schanuel Expected To Return On Tuesday |
Los Angeles Angels first baseman Nolan Schanuel (back) is expected to return to the starting lineup on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers at Comerica Park. Schanuel will hit the bench for the second straight game in Sunday's series finale against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Center due to back stiffness, but it's not going to keep the 22-year-old out for much longer. Rookie Niko Kavadas will play first base on Sunday and hit eighth against Blue Jays right-hander Kevin Gausman. As the Halos starting first baseman in 2024, Schanuel has provided mediocre production at the plate, batting .253/.348/.375 with a .723 OPS, 12 home runs, 41 RBI, four steals and 54 runs scored in 120 games in his first full MLB season. Kavadas has just one hit (a homer) in his first 24 plate appearances with three walks and 13 strikeouts in his first seven games this year for the Halos. |
