Mon Jul 2821:30Alex Freeland to Join Dodgers
The Los Angeles Dodgers are going to promote prized infield prospect Alex Freeland from Triple-A Oklahoma City, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports. Now 23 years old, the switch-hitting Freeland joined the organization as a third-round pick in the 2022 draft. Freeland, who ranks as MLB Pipeline's 35th-best prospect, earned his way to the majors this year by slashing .253/.377/.421 with 12 home runs, 71 RBI, and 17 stolen bases in 453 plate appearances at the minors' highest level. It's unclear how often the Dodgers plan to start Freeland in his first taste of the majors, but he'll at least give them more infield depth with Max Muncy (knee) and Enrique Hernandez (elbow) on the injured list. While Muncy will start a rehab assignment Tuesday and could come off the IL to reclaim third base in a matter of days, there's no timetable for Hernandez's return. That opens the door for Freeland to fill a multi-positional role for the Dodgers.

Wed Jun 1814:55Alex Freeland Homers, Gets on Base Four Times on Tuesday
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop prospect Alex Freeland went 2-for-3 with two walks, a home run, two RBI, and two runs scored on Tuesday for Triple-A Oklahoma City. The switch-hitter has been a bit streaky this year, but is currently on a five-game hot stretch where he's gone 9-for-17 (.529) with three doubles, two home runs, seven RBI, eight runs scored, a stolen base, and a 7:3 BB:K. Overall, it has been a productive season for the Dodgers' fourth-ranked prospect, slashing .277/.393/.462 with nine home runs, 53 RBI, 53 runs scored, 13 steals, and despite a higher than average strikeoutrate of 24.2 percent, the 23-year-old boasts a phenomenal 16.3 percentwalk rate. Look for the former third-rounder to get the call to the big league club later this year, and with a solid all-around skillset, if he's able to regular at-bats, he'll be doing so in one of the better run-producing lineups in all of baseball, giving him enough fantasy relevanceto be rosterable in deep and NL-only leagues when that happens.

Fri Jun 1300:18Alex Freeland Homers on Thursday
Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop prospect Alex Freeland went 2-for-3 with a solo home run, double, and two additional runs scored on Thursday against Triple-A Albuquerque. Freeland was on base four times in this one as he tacked on two walks to stuff the box score. The 23-year-old has had an interesting month of June so far, as he is only hitting .171, but has more walks than strikeouts. His BABIP is just .143 for the month so far, and he is hitting the ball hard at 40.9 percent, so he has just been a bit unlucky. Freeland has good power and a sound approach and should be expected to be promoted to the majors at some point this summer. Depending on what his playing time looks like, he would be a solid speculative add in deeper formats.

Wed May 2806:14Alex Freeland Hits Two Home Runs on Tuesday
Los Angeles Dodgers infield prospect Alex Freeland went 3-for-5 with two long balls during their contest against Triple-A Las Vegas on Tuesday evening. This was Freeland's third long ball over his past three games. Over his last 12 games, Freeland has begun to heat up at the plate, holding a .277/.393/.574 slash line with five doubles, three home runs, two stolen bases, and 11 RBI. During this stretch, Freeland has shown a strong eye at the plate, holding a 10:9 K:BB. After posting a modest .243/.335/.396 line during his first 30 games at the Triple-A level during the 2024 campaign, Freeland has begun to take the next step this season. In 50 games, the No. 4-ranked prospect in the system, has posted a much-higher .272/.374/.451 line with 17 doubles and six long balls. Freeland should be in the mix to reach the majors later this season.

Wed Apr 912:14Alex Freeland Posts Fourth Straight Multi-Hit Outing
Los Angeles Dodgers infield prospect Alex Freeland went 3-for-5 with a double and a home run during Tuesday's contest against Triple-A Round Rock. Freeland tallied six RBI and swiped two bags. This was his fourth-straight game tallying at least two hits in each contest. During this impressive stretch, Freeland has hit three doubles and one home run. Before this surge, Freeland tallied just four hits across the first six games of the Triple-A regular season. The 23-year-old was in contention to make the MLB roster out of camp but was sent to Oklahoma City to further his development. However, it appears Freeland may not need much time in the minor leagues. Last summer, the 23-year-old spent time with High-A. Double-A and Triple-A and posted a .260/.387/.442 line. He is worth monitoring as he could push an early-season MLB debut.
