Tue Sep 1618:19Zach Neto Placed on 10-Day Injured List With Hand Injury
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (hand) was placed on the 10-day injured list on Tuesday, retroactive to Sept. 13. This isn't shocking considering Neto hasn't been able to take the field since injuring his hand last Thursday. The Angels tried to take it day by day, but sadly, Neto wasn't progressing quickly enough. There is a chance that Neto can return in time for the final handful of games in the regular season. Otherwise, Neto will finish the season with a .257/.319/.474 slash line with 26 home runs, 62 RBI, and 26 stolen bases in 128 games. Denzer Guzman figures to see a majority of the playing time at shortstop while Neto is out. He could offer some deep league value down the stretch of the season.

Sun Sep 1414:29Zach Neto Missing Third Straight Game
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (wrist) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Seattle Mariners. This marks the third game in a row that Neto will miss after injuring his hand during Thursday's contest. At this point, it wouldn't be shocking to see Neto land on the injured list. For now, the Angels will take it day-by-day and keep Neto on the bench. Denzer Guzman will draw his second straight start at shortstop during Sunday's game. He could offer some deep league value if Neto does land on the shelf.

Sat Sep 1321:38Zach Neto Remains Out on Saturday
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (hand) is out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Seattle Mariners. This marks the second game in a row that Neto will head to the bench. He injured his hand during Thursday's game, so hopefully he won't require a stint on the injured list. For now, fantasy managers should consider Neto as day-to-day. Denzer Guzman will start at shortstop and bat seventh versus right-hander Bryan Woo on Saturday. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday for another update on Neto.

Fri Sep 1223:35Zach Neto Dealing With Wrist Soreness
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (wrist) was out of the lineup Friday against the Seattle Mariners with soreness in his left wrist, according to Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Neto's wrist hasn't been at full strength since a hit by pitch forced him from a game on Aug. 20, though the injury hasn't required a stint on the 10-day IL to this point. "It really is minute to minute, day to day," interim manager Ray Montgomery said. "He only knows how it's feeling in the moment. So we're going to give him a minute to let it calm down a little bit." Based on Montgomery's words, it's hard to predict whether Neto will return to the lineup Saturday. The 24-year-old has popped two of his career-high 26 home runs this month, but his wrist issues may be having a negative effect, as he has hit just .162/.295/.324 through 11 games in September. The light-hitting Oswald Peraza started at short in place of Neto on Friday.

Fri Aug 2218:31Zach Neto Returns to Halos Lineup
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (wrist) is starting at shortstop and hitting in his customary leadoff spot for Friday's series opener at the Big A in Anaheim against the visiting Chicago Cubs and right-hander Javier Assad. Neto had to leave Wednesday's contest early against the Cincinnati Reds after he was hit by a pitch on his left wrist, but thankfully X-rays came back negative and he' ready to go for the weekend. The 24-year-old has never faced Assad in his career, but fantasy managers should be putting him back in their starting lineups. The former 13th overall pick in 2022 out of Campbell Univerity is having another strong season for his fantasy managers, slashing .267/.325/.479 with a career-high .804 OPS, 21 long balls, 55 RBI, 74 runs and 22 steals in 108 games. Neto has hit a cool .300 (12-for-40) with four homers, nine RBI and a steal in his last 10 contests.

Thu Aug 2112:32Zach Neto Avoids Serious Injury
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (wrist) exited a 2-1 win over the Cincinnati Reds early on Wednesday with a sore left wrist, but it's not a serious injury. X-rays came back negative after the game, and interim manager Ray Montgomery told reporters that Neto is fine. The 24-year-old took a pitch off the hand in the third inning and remained in the game until the Angels pulled him in the sixth. The Halos and fantasy managers are breathing a sigh of relief that Neto is OK, as he's enjoying a second straight highly productive season. Across 471 plate appearances, Neto has slashed .267/.325/.479 with 21 homers, 55 RBI, 74 runs scored, and 22 stolen bases. The Angels are off Thursday, but Neto will presumably be in the lineup to start a series against the Chicago Cubs on Friday.

Wed Aug 2023:21Zach Neto Exits With Wrist Injury on Wednesday
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (wrist) left Wednesday's game against the Cincinnati Reds with left-wrist soreness, per Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register. Neto was hit by a pitch in the bottom of the third inning and stayed in until the Angels replaced him with Oswald Peraza in the top of the sixth. He finished the game 0-for-2, ending a modest six-game hitting streak. The 24-year-old has put up terrific production for the second straight season, having slashed .267/.325/.479 with 21 homers, 55 RBI, 74 runs scored, and 22 stolen bases in 471 plate appearances. Neto is just two homers away from tying a career high and eight steals from his second straight 30-SB campaign.

Tue Aug 1209:30Zach Neto Homers Twice on Monday
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto powered his team to a 7-4 victory over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Monday night with a monster game. Neto was three-for-three with two home runs, two walks, and an additional run scored. In 435 plate appearances so far this season, the 24-year-old is slashing .272/.329/.481 with 19 home runs, 48 RBI, 72 runs scored, and 21 stolen bases. Neto's 13.2% barrel rate and 47.6% hard-hit rate are both career-bests by a significant margin. He profiles as a power/speed stud in fantasy who should be a staple at the top of the Angels order for years to come.

Fri Jul 401:29Zach Neto Showcases Power and Speed on Thursday
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto led the charge on Thursday, going 3-for-5 with a homer, a double, a stolen base, and three runs scored in a 5-1 win over the Atlanta Braves. Neto was all over the scoresheet in this one, which was sorely needed after an 0-for-13 slump that dated back to when he jammed his shoulder on June 24. He hasn't looked quite right since then, but tonight he was back to his usual self. The 24-year-old is hitting .270 with 49 runs, 13 homers, 30 RBI, and 14 stolen bases while hitting at the top of a decent Angels lineup. His power/speed combo is perfect for fantasy, and it makes him a top-12 option at shortstop. He should be owned and started in virtually all fantasy formats.

Tue Jul 116:31Zach Neto Returns to Tuesday's Lineup
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) is back at the 6 and is batting leadoff for Tuesday's series opener in Atlanta against Braves right-hander Grant Holmes. Neto jammed his surgically-repaired right shoulder while sliding into second base late last week and missed the next four games. However, he thankfully avoided any structural damage and will return to the lineup for Tuesday's series opener at Truist Park. The 24-year-old former 13th overall pick in 2022 out of Campbell is one of the best young rising shortstops in the game and should be returned to all fantasy lineups this week. He comes into Tuesday's tilt riding a .273/.316/.486 slash line with an .802 OPS, 12 home runs, 29 RBI, 46 runs scored and 13 stolen bases in 249 at-bats. In the last two weeks, Neto has gone 9-for-34 (.265) with two homers, two doubles, three RBI and a steal.

Mon Jun 3009:22Zach Neto Enters Sunday's Game Late and Plays Shortstop
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) missed his fourth consecutive start on Sunday after he injured his shoulder Tuesday sliding into second base. However, the 24-year-old appeared as a pinch hitter in both of Friday's, Saturday's, and Sunday's contests, which indicates that he isn't dealing with a serious injury. More importantly, on Sunday, he pinch hit and entered the game at shortstop, Jeff Fletcher, Angels beat writer reports. Although it has been difficult for fantasy managers to see their shortstop sit half of the week, it's highly encouraging to see him play shortstop after he pinch hit in every game over the weekend, suggesting that although he missed his fourth straight game, there shouldn't be an IL stint. Additionally, the game ended up going into extra innings, and Neto stayed in the game, proceeded to get a second at-bat, and even attempted a steal, further suggesting that his return to the starting lineup is imminent. In Neto's absence, Kevin Newman has been starting at shortstop for the Angels.

Sun Jun 2914:31Zach Neto Remains on the Bench
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Washington Nationals. Neto has been able to pinch-hit in each of the last two games, but is out of the lineup for the fourth straight contest. The fact that Neto has been able to come off the bench means he shouldn't require a trip to the injured list. The Angels have a scheduled day off on Monday, so hopefully Neto can return for Tuesday's contest. In the meantime, Kevin Newman will cover shortstop and bat ninth versus left-hander Mitchell Parker.

Sat Jun 2821:10Zach Neto Remains Sidelined on Saturday
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) remains out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Washington Nationals. Neto is out of the starting lineup for the third straight game due to a shoulder issue. It's worth noting that Neto did enter Friday's game as a pinch hitter. Neto didn't play the field at all, but it sounds like he should be back soon. Kevin Newman will cover shortstop and bat ninth versus right-hander Mike Soroka on Saturday. Fantasy managers should check back on Sunday for another update on his status.

Fri Jun 2718:52Zach Neto Remains Absent on Friday
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) remains out of action for Friday's series opener against the visiting Washington Nationals. Veteran Kevin Newman is making the start at the 6 and will bat ninth against Nationals right-hander Jake Irvin. Neto aggravated his surgically-repaired right shoulder when he jammed it sliding into second base on a stolen-base attempt on Tuesday and then sat out Wednesday's series finale against the Boston Red Sox. The 24-year-old isn't feeling good enough to return on Friday after a scheduled day off on Thursday. Neto avoided structural damage, so he could return to the lineup this weekend against the Nats. It's great news for one of the best young players in the game at the premium shortstop position. DFS gamers should be able to find better sleepers at shortstop than Newman, who has gone 15-for-77 (.195) this year with no homers.

Wed Jun 2520:11No Structural Damage for Zach Neto
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto's (shoulder) MRI exam didn't reveal any structural damage in his surgically-repaired right shoulder, and he's considered day-to-day, according to Bally Sports' Erica Weston. Neto aggravated his right shoulder when he jammed it during a stolen base attempt in Tuesday's extra-inning win over the visiting Boston Red Sox and was removed from the game. The 24-year-old didn't play in Wednesday's victory, but it's possible that he could be back as soon as Friday's series opener in Anaheim against the visiting Washington Nationals after a scheduled day off on Thursday. It's great news for the Halos and fantasy managers alike, as Neto is quickly becoming one of the best rising young shortstops in the game. The former first-rounder (13th overall) is currently hitting .278 (68-for-245) and is on pace for a 30-30 season.

Wed Jun 2514:10Zach Neto Not Playing on Wednesday
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) is not in the starting lineup for Wednesday's series finale against the visiting Boston Red Sox, but The Athletic's Sam Blum reports that he's listed as available. Neto said that he was getting an MRI exam on Wednesday on his surgically-repaired right shoulder after he reinjured it on a slide in Tuesday's extra-inning win. Scott Kingery is at the 6 on Wednesday and is batting ninth against Red Sox right-hander Richard Fitts. It's good news that the 24-year-old Neto is available to play, but it doesn't mean he will necessarily avoid a trip to the injured list. The former first-rounder is on pace for a 30-homer, 30-steal season, so losing him for any amount of time would be a tough break for the Halos and fantasy managers. For however long Neto is out, expect Kingery and Kevin Newman to split time at shortstop.

Wed Jun 2501:02Zach Neto Exits Early Tuesday After Jamming Right Shoulder
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto (shoulder) exited Tuesday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Red Sox in the ninth inning after making an errant throw to first base. Per the Associated Press' Greg Beacham, Neto jammed his throwing shoulder on a stolen base attempt earlier in the game, and interim manager Ray Montgomery said that Neto was removed as a precaution. The 24-year-old went 1-for-4 with a single and two strikeouts before exiting the game. Neto missed the beginning of the season after having right shoulder surgery but has slashed a strong .278/.321/.494 with 12 home runs, 29 RBI, and 13 stolen bases in 262 plate appearances. Fantasy managers should keep an eye out for more news, but it seems as though Neto is merely day-to-day.

Sun Jun 2214:18Zach Neto Absent on Sunday
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Houston Astros. This appears to be a rare rest day for Neto who has started in every game since May 26. He has been in a bit of a slump lately with only two hits over his last four games. It looks like a good time to give him a day off and let him recharge. Kevin Newman will cover shortstop and bat eighth versus right-hander Ryan Gusto on Sunday.

Sun May 2516:00Zach Neto Resting on Sunday
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto is out of the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's game against the Miami Marlins. This is a well deserved rest day for Neto who has started in 33 straight games. Neto has been extremely productive with the bat, which makes it difficult for the Halos to take him out of the lineup. The expectation is that he'll be back at shortstop on Monday. In the meantime, Tim Anderson will cover shortstop and bat leadoff against right-hander Edward Cabrera.

Thu May 2209:01Zach Neto Stays Scorching-Hot on Wednesday in Sacramento
Los Angeles Angels shortstop Zach Neto continued his impressive delayed start to the season on Wednesday by going 2-for-5 out of the leadoff spot for the Halos with a home run, a stolen base, two runs scored, and two RBI. In just 30 games, Neto is already up to eight homers and eight stolen bases while hitting .283 and scoring 25 runs for the Angels. Over his last nine games, he is hitting a robust .316 (12-for-38) with four homers, three walks, a stolen base, and a 51.9% hard-hit rate, per Statcast. Neto's blend of power and speed in a premium lineup spot should make him a top-10 shortstop the rest of the season.
