Sun Jul 20 | 13:52 | Tyler Black Recalled from Triple-A Nashville |
The Milwaukee Brewers have recalled first baseman Tyler Black from Triple-A Nashville with Jake Bauers hitting the 10-day injured list due to a left shoulder impingement. The 24-year-old Black got a late start to the season after undergoing surgery for a right hamate fracture in March, finally returning to Triple-A Nashville on June 11. Through 24 games there, the left-handed hitter took a while to get rolling, slashing .191/.301/.303 in all, but was riding a six-game hit streak before his call-up, going 9-for-24 (.375) with a double, a pair of home runs, and two stolen bases. The 6-foot-1 slugger made his major league debut in 2024, slashing .204/.316/.245 with zero home runs and three steals in 18 games for the Brewers. Hopefully this time he'll see a bit more success as he offers a little bit of power and speed, but he can be left to the waiver wire in most fantasy leagues for now. |

Tue Jun 10 | 16:17 | Tyler Black Still Rehabbing with ACL Brewers |
MilwaukeeBrewers first baseman Tyler Black (hand) has resumed his rehab assignment with the team's Arizona Complex League (ACL) affiliate. The 24-year-old had surgery in late March for a right-hamate fracture and started a minor-league rehab assignment with the ACL Brewers on May 15. After a week of games, it was expected that his rehab would be moved to Triple-A Nashville, however, the left-handed hitter appeared in just one contest -- still with the ACL Brewers -- from May 24 through June 5. The former 33rd-overall draft pick has now made three more starts at that level since this past Friday. There's no official word, but it seems Black encountered a setback at some point, so there is no new timeline regarding his move to Nashville. The 6-foot-1 slugger offers solid hit, power, and speed tools, but was unable to get going in his debut with Milwaukee last season, slashing .204/.316/.245 with zero home runs, although he did manage to swipe three bags in 18 games. Check back for updates regarding his progress in the coming days. |

Tue May 20 | 16:20 | Tyler Black Expected to Move Rehab to Triple-A Next Week |
Milwaukee Brewers first baseman Tyler Black (hand) had surgery in late March during spring training for a right-hamate fracture in his hand and started a minor-league rehab assignment at the rookie-level Arizona Complex League on May 15, according to MLB.com. Black is expected to move his rehab assignment to Triple-A Nashville next week. The 24-year-old was initially estimated to miss six to eight weeks, so it's possible he'll be able to return to action in June, barring a setback. The team's No. 6-ranked prospect, per MLB Pipeline, played in his first 18 major-league games last year and struggled with a .204 average (10-for-49) with no homers, two RBI, 17 strikeouts and seven walks in 57 plate appearances. Many players experience a drop in power upon their return from hamate surgery, so Black will most likely return to the minors when his rehab assignment is up next month. |

Fri Mar 28 | 13:33 | Tyler Black To Miss Start Of Season At Triple-A |
Milwaukee Brewers first base prospect Tyler Black ( hand) will miss the start of the 2025 regular season at Triple-A Nashville after suffering a fracture in his right hamate bone. Black will be out six to eight weeks as a result. It's a tough break (literally) for the team's No. 6 prospect, per MLB Pipeline. The 24-year-old will likely undergo surgery, which has a good chance of sapping his power for a while when he initially returns to action in the minors. The Canadian former 33rd overall pick in 2021 out of Wright State University made his major-league debut for the Brew Crew last year and went 10-for-49 (.204) with no homers, two RBI, three steals and 17 strikeouts in his first 18 games played. However, the left-handed hitter clubbed 15 homers, stole 20 bags and produced an .805 OPS in 103 games for Nashville in 2024. Black has intriguing power-speed upside, but we probably won't see him back in the majors until later this year, if at all. |

Sat Mar 22 | 19:45 | Tyler Black Optioned To Triple-A |
Milwaukee Brewers infielder Tyler Black has been optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Saturday. The 24-year-old is one of the better hitting prospects in the Brewers system. However, he'll head back to the minors for more work after a rough showing during spring training. Black played in 18 games with the Brewers last season, but he didn't do much at the plate. The expectation is that Black will get another chance at the big league level at some point in 2025. For now, Black will head to the minors to begin the regular season. |

Mon Mar 3 | 07:37 | Tyler Black Returns On Sunday |
Milwaukee Brewers infielder Tyler Black (back) made his spring training debut on Sunday. Black has been sidelined during the early part of camp with a minor back injury. However, seeing him return to action suggests he should not face any restrictions by Opening Day. In his debut, he went 0-for-3 at the plate. The 24-year-old made his MLB debut last summer. Across 18 contests, Black held a .204/.316/.245 slash line two doubles. He showed an elite eye at the plate as he drew walks at a 12.3 percent rate. At Triple-A, the infielder posted a .258/.374/.429 slash line with 14 doubles, 14 home runs, and 20 stolen bases. He held a solid 61:87 BB:K ratio. Fantasy managers should expect Black to continue competing for a depth role in the Milwaukee infield throughout spring training. |

Milwaukee Brewers infielder Tyler Black (back) was able to hit off a tee earlier on Tuesday. He is hoping to return to participate in spring training contests next week. Across a brief 18-game stint, the Wright State University product held a .204/.316/.245 slash line with two doubles and a 7:17 BB:K ratio. He swiped three bags. Through 102 contests at Triple-A last season, Black posted a solid .258/.374/.429 line with 14 doubles and 14 home runs. He swiped 20 bags and held an impressive 61:87 BB:K ratio. When healthy, Black will compete for a depth role in the infield alongside Oliver Dunn, Jake Bauers, and Andruw Monasterio. |

Mon Feb 24 | 19:11 | Tyler Black Battling Back Stiffness |
Milwaukee Brewers infielder Tyler Black (back) is dealing with back stiffness and has yet to make his Cactus League debut. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status but should be viewed as day-to-day for the time being. Last season, the 24-year-old made his MLB debut. Across 16 contests, Black held a .204/.316/.245 line with two doubles and three stolen bases. He showed a strong eye at the plate as he drew walks at an elite 12.3 percent rate but generated a low .191 xBA. However, across 102 contests at Triple-A Nashville, Black posted a strong .258/.374/.429 line with 14 doubles, 14 home runs, and 20 stolen bases. This was similar to the .273/.411/.513 line he held across 84 games at Double-A in 2023. When Black returns to action, he will likely compete for a spot on the Opening Day roster but is expected to open the season with Triple-A. |

Thu Aug 22 2024 | 12:24 | Tyler Black Sent Back To Triple-A |
The Milwaukee Brewers optioned infield prospect Tyler Black to Triple-A Nashville on Thursday and reinstated outfielder Blake Perkins (calf) from the 10-day injured list in a corresponding move. Black, the team's No. 4 prospect per MLB Pipeline, has been called up to the big leagues two separate times this year and has struggled in both short stints while not getting much run for the Brew Crew. This last time around, the left-handed-hitting Canadian went 2-for-15 with an RBI, three walks and five strikeouts in just six games played. Overall, the former 33rd overall pick in 2021 out of Wright State has hit .204 (10-for-49) with two RBI, three steals and four runs scored in just 18 games. The 24-year-old should return to Milwaukee when rosters expand in September, but don't expect his playing time to suddenly increase. Gary Sanchez and Jake Bauers are the likeliest candidates for the DH spot for the Brewers moving forward. |

Sun Aug 18 2024 | 14:45 | Tyler Black Struggling In Return To The Big Leagues |
Milwaukee Brewers infield prospect Tyler Black has struggled at the plate since rejoining the major leagues on August 11. Black has started three out of the eight games so far and gone 1-for-11 in the batter's box. Earlier this summer in the majors, Black held a .235/.316/.294 line across 12 games. At Triple-A Nashville this summer, the No. 4 ranked prospect in the Milwaukee system has held an excellent .276/.389/.448 slash line with 12 doubles, four triples, 11 long balls, 52 RBI, and 16 swiped bags. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor the 24-year-old's playing time, as he could be sent down to Triple-A in the coming weeks to continue his development. Given his production in the minors, deeper league managers should continue to hold onto Black, as he could be a viable fantasy asset down the stretch if given the playing opportunities. |

Tue Aug 13 2024 | 08:22 | Tyler Black Gets Another Chance In The Big Leagues |
The Milwaukee Brewers have recalled infield prospect Tyler Black from Triple-A Nashville. Black, the club's No. 3 prospect per MLB Pipeline will make his third stint at the big-league level this season. For Nashville, Black has hit a solid .276 with four triples, 11 home runs, 52 RBI and 16 stolen bases. Despite his success on the farm, his brief periods in the majors have not matched up as he has struggled with eight hits in 34 at-bats to go along with 12 strikeouts and one RBI. Even though he has struggled at the big-leagues in his brief time, his numbers on the farm suggest he can still be a good big-leaguer long-term. Those in dynasty leagues should still hold onto Black, but he can be left on the waiver wire in redraft leagues with his playing time unclear at the moment and most likely being a bench bat for now. Regardless, the versatile infielder should have a bright future ahead of him. |

Fri Jul 26 2024 | 10:07 | Tyler Black Swipes Three Bags For Triple-A Nashville |

The 24-year-old has a homer and nine RBI to go with five steals and a .290 batting average in July. The Brewers' No. 3 prospect got 34 at-bats this season in the big leagues with Milwaukee but has spent most of the season at Nashville. In Triple-A, Black is hitting .279 with 10 homers and 50 RBI with 16 stolen bases. He offers unique speed for a first baseman, which makes him an intriguing fantasy name. He could get another shot with the Brewers before the end of the season. |

Thu Jul 11 2024 | 00:54 | Tyler Black In Center Field Wednesday At Triple-A |
Milwaukee Brewers infield prospect Tyler Black was playing centerfield for Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday, his first start there since 2022. No word from the Brewers yet on why he was out there but it certainly looks like they're at least trying to add to his versatility, either for their own benefit or to showcase his value with the trade deadline approaching. The 23-year-old is having a nice season at Triple-A, owning a .287-10-46-39-12 line in 60 games, although his brief MLB debut wasn't spectacular, going 8-for-34 (.235) with zero home runs. The speedster did steal three bases, though. The left-handed hitter has the ability to be a multi-category contributor if given a full-time role at the big league level, and should be back in the majors sometime in the second half. |
