Sun Jul 27 | 10:41 | Jarren Duran Reportedly Staying Put at Trade Deadline |
The Boston Red Sox aren't planning to trade outfielder Jarren Duran before the July 31 deadline, according to Bob Nightengale of USA Today. There has been speculation about Duran changing teams by the deadline, though a deal seems more likely to come together during the offseason (if at all). While the 28-year-old hasn't matched his production from 2024, he has been an integral part of a Boston team that's in the thick of the AL playoff race. Duran went 3-for-4 with two triples, a double, two RBI, and a run scored in a 4-2 win over the Los Angeles Dodgers on Saturday. He's now 19-for-65 (.292) with three homers, 16 RBI, and 12 runs in 19 games this month. Overall, Duran has slashed .259/.326/.442 with nine HRs, 55 RBI, 58 runs, and 16 steals in 467 trips to the plate. |

Wed Jul 23 | 21:55 | Jarren Duran Garnering Interest From Royals |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is drawing interest from the Kansas City Royals for his combination of athleticism and team control, Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reports. Duran isn't due to hit free agency until after the 2028 season. In the meantime, he's making $3.75 million this year and has a similarly affordable $8 million club option for 2026. After that, Duran is scheduled to go through the arbitration process twice. With that in mind, the playoff-contending Red Sox aren't under any immediate pressure to move Duran. Despite that, the 28-year-old's name has come up in the rumor mill on multiple occasions in advance of the July 31 trade deadline. It's easy to see Duran's appeal around the league, especially from the Royals' standpoint. Duran would be a massive upgrade for a Kansas City club that has received bottom-of-the-barrel production from its outfield this year. Although Duran isn't repeating his superstar-caliber season from 2024, he's slashing a respectable .254/.322/.429 with nine homers, 52 RBI, 55 runs scored, and 16 stolen bases over 458 plate appearances. The Royals would sign up for that type of production in a heartbeat, but there's no indication a deal is close. |

Tue Jul 22 | 16:12 | Jarren Duran, Wilyer Abreu Sitting Against Lefty |
Boston Red Sox outfielders Jarren Duran and Wilyer Abreu will both take a seat for Tuesday's contest against the Philadelphia Phillies at Citizens Bank Park with left-hander Cristopher Sanchez on the mound. Rob Refsnyder is starting in left field and batting leadoff, while rookie Roman Anthony is in right field and in the two-hole. Duran is hitting only .209 (29-for-139) with one of his nine home runs on the year against left-handers, and he's sitting against a southpaw for the second straight time. Abreu, who also hits from the left side, has batted .225 (9-for-40) with only one of his 20 homers coming against lefties. Refsnyder is known as a lefty killer in his career and is hitting a solid .273 (30-for-110) on the year, but he doesn't come with much pop. Refsynder has gone 22-for-76 (.289) with four of his five long balls on the year against southpaws. |

Sat Jul 19 | 18:52 | Jarren Duran Absent Versus Southpaw |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is out of the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the Chicago Cubs. This appears to be a matchup decision to rest Duran against left-handed starter Shota Imanaga on Saturday. Duran has struggled against left-handed pitching this season, so the Red Sox will go with Rob Refsnyder in left field for Saturday's contest. Fantasy managers should adjust their lineups ahead of first pitch. Refsynder has good numbers against lefty pitching, but isn't an ideal streaming option against an elite arm in Imanaga. |

Thu Jul 10 | 07:41 | Jarren Duran Hits Three-Run Home Run on Wednesday |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran turned in a big day in a 10-2 win over the Colorado Rockies on Wednesday. Duran went 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, a walk, and three RBI to lead Boston to the win in the lopsided contest. The veteran outfielder did most of his damage with a three-run homer in the eighth inning to give the Red Sox their final runs of the contest. Duran is putting together a solid season for Boston, slashing .262/.318/.438 with eight homers, 52 runs, 50 RBI, and 15 steals in 386 at-bats. He is behind his pace of 21 homers hit in 2024, but he should still notch his second straight season with double-digit homers and steals in the coming weeks. |

Mon Jul 7 | 16:17 | Jarren Duran Out of Monday Lineup |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is not in his team's starting lineup for their Monday matchup against the Colorado Rockies and left-handed starter Austin Gomber. It's been a struggle this year for the lefty-swinging Duran against same-handed pitching. He's batting .216 with just one home run and 41 strikeouts in 140 plate appearances versus lefties so far this season. Rob Refsnyder will play left field on Monday against Colorado in his place. Fantasy managers should closely monitor whether Duran continues to lose playing time against lefty starters, as there are plenty of contenders for at-bats in Boston's outfield mix. |

Tue Jun 24 | 14:01 | Jarren Duran Underperforming his Underlying Metrics |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran broke out in 2024 and had the seventh-best WAR in the league at 6.7, but ESPN's Kiley McDaniel and Jeff Passan point out that he overperformed his underlying metrics and was a bit fortunate. In 2025, his metrics have regressed and he's now underperforming them, suggesting he's better than the roughly 2 WAR that he's on pace for this season. It also makes him a decent trade candidate -- they peg him at a 25 percent of being traded this summer -- if the Red Sox fall further out of contention in the American League as the July 31 trade deadline nears. If Duran is traded, his best potential fits are the San Diego Padres, Atlanta Braves, Cleveland Guardians, Kansas City Royals, San Francisco Giants and Philadelphia Phillies. Duran has 15 steals in 79 games, but his power has been way down, as he only has five homers after posting a career-high 21 in 2024. |

Fri Jun 13 | 16:13 | Jarren Darren on the Bench on Friday |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran will sit out of Friday's series opener at Fenway Park against the division-rival New York Yankees with a left-hander on the mound. Rob Refsnyder is making the start in left field and will bat leadoff against Yankees southpaw Ryan Yarbrough. Duran takes a seat after starting each of the team's last 54 games. He was a first-time All-Star in a breakout season in 2024 and continues to contribute across all categories for fantasy managers in his fifth year in the big leagues with a .271/.325/.428 slash line with a .753 OPS, five homers, 38 RBI, 14 steals and 38 runs scored in a league-high 326 plate appearances. The 28-year-old also leads the league with seven triples. Refsnyder, known as a lefty killer, will be a DFS sleeper in the leadoff spot without much power. He's hitting .279 (12-for-43) with three of his four long balls in 2025 against southpaws. |

Mon Jun 2 | 10:04 | Padres Showing Interest in Jarren Duran |
According to Dennis Lin of The Athletic, the Padres are again showing interest in Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran. The Padres' left field spot has been a revolving door for the Padres thus far in 2025. With recent injury news to Gavin Sheets and the current injury to Jason Heyward, the Padres may want to revisit conversations with the Red Sox about Duran. Duran is an All-Star-caliber outfielder who could help the Padres significantly. No news is concrete as of now, but if the Padres could secure a deal like this, it would dramatically increase their chances of competing for a World Series. For now, look for the Padres to lean on Brandon Lockridge and Tyler Wade in left field for the time being. |

Sun May 18 | 09:24 | Jarren Duran Homers, Drives in Four Runs on Saturday |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran singled and hit a two-run home run in a 2-for-5 day at the plate, collecting four RBI in the team's 7-6 win over the Braves on Saturday. It could have been an even more fruitful fantasy performance, but he was caught stealing once. The left-handed hitter has had a productiveseason thus far, hitting .262 with three home runs, 27 RBI, 24 runs scored, and 12 stolen bases, putting him in the top 24 in fantasy scoring amongoutfielders. Even with yesterday's home run, the28-year-old is on pace for 10 home runs, far less than the 21 he hit last season, which will surely disappoint fantasy managers who were expecting more, but he's also on pace for 40 steals, which would be more than the 34 he swiped last year. |

Fri May 9 | 12:29 | Jarren Duran Knocks In Run In Win |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran went 0-for-3 with an RBI and a strikeout in Thursday's 5-0 win over the Texas Rangers. The 28-year-old has scuffled a bit recently, going 1-for-16 over his last four outings. Duran's mini-slump comes after a hot stretch over the past few weeks in which he hit .317 (27-for-85) with at least one knock in 17 of 19 contests. He dealt with a cold spell in May of 2024 before he really turned it on in the summer months, so we know he's capable of bouncing back after a drought. Furthermore, he had out-produced his xBA over the last two years and is underperforming it right now, signaling he could rebound quickly. That tracks, considering his average exit velocity and hard-hit rates are better than they were last season, with a lower strikeout percentage (19.4%). |

Sun Apr 27 | 16:55 | Jarren Duran Collects Four Hits On Sunday |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran was seemingly unstoppable at the plate during Sunday's game against the Cleveland Guardians. This was a great series for Duran who went 3-for-9 with a walk, triple, and two RBI during the doubleheader on Saturday. He returned on Sunday and went 4-for-6 with three singles, a double, and one RBI in the win. It's worth noting that Duran is currently on an 11-game hit streak at the plate. He got off to a bit of a slow start to the season, but has been heating up at the plate over the last few weeks. |

Sat Apr 26 | 22:50 | Jarren Duran Steals Home And Racks Up Three Hits |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran executed one of the most exciting plays in baseball during the second game of the Red Sox doubleheader in Cleveland. He pulled off the straight steal of home after hitting an RBI triple with two outs in the third inning against lefty Doug Nikhazy. Duran's triple was one of his three hits in the game, and he finished with three runs scored and a pair of RBI. In his 28 games this season, he now has nine stolen bases in 11 attempts and is hitting .256 with a .312 wOBA. He has shown he can be a huge catalyst at the top of Boston's batting order, and he'll continue to be a productive leadoff option that is a threat for both stepped and power production. |

Wed Apr 16 | 08:40 | Jarren Duran Productive In Win Over Rays |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran went 1-for-3 with a home run and a steal in his team's 7-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Tuesday. The former seventh-round pick scored twice, walked twice, and drove in two runs. It was Duran's first long ball of the year, as he's off to a sluggish start after batting .285 or better over the prior two seasons. The 28-year-old is up to a .234 average with six steals, eight runs scored, and ten RBI. He's logged a hit in three straight games -- the first time he's done so all season -- so it's possible that his bat is beginning to wake up. As a reminder, Duran hit .236 in May last season and followed it up with a blistering June in which he held a .360 average over 111 at-bats. |

Sat Apr 12 | 14:27 | Jarren Duran Sitting On Saturday |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is not in the starting nine on Saturday when the Red Sox continue a series against the White Sox. Duran has been in the starting nine in each of the first 15 games of the regular season. Instead, the Red Sox will give Rob Refsnyder the nod in left field and will have him bat cleanup. Through the start of the campaign, Duran has held a .231/.292/.308 slash line with three doubles and one home run. He has tallied eight RBI and swiped five bags. The 28-year-old has generated a strong 92.6 mph average exit velocity with a 73.8 mph bat speed, which suggests he should see positive regression when he returns to the lineup. He will likely return to the lineup on Sunday and face White Sox right-hander Shane Smith. |

Fri Apr 11 | 06:00 | Jarren Duran Helps Red Sox Avoid Sweep |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran reached base four times in Boston's extra-inning win over the Blue Jays, going 2-for-3 with two walks, a run scored, an RBI, and his fifth stolen base of the season. Duran stole second base in the sixth inning after one of his walks and came around to score the first run of the game on a single by Alex Bregman. He also drove in the automatic runner in the 10th inning to set up Trevor Story's game-winning groundout. On the season, Duran is 15-for-60 (.250) with three doubles, a triple, five walks, five stolen bases, and a .291 wOBA. After getting back to .500 with Thursday's win, the Red Sox and Duran head to Chicago for a weekend series against the White Sox. |

Tue Feb 25 | 12:03 | Jarren Duran Back In Grapefruit League Lineup |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (calf) is starting in left field and batting leadoff in Tuesday's Grapefruit League game against the Atlanta Braves. Duran was scratched from Sunday's spring training game on Sunday, and the team's game on Monday was rained out. The 28-year-old is back in there now, though, after dealing with a minor calf injury. Duran broke out in 2024 as a first-time All-Star with a .285/.342/.492 slash line, .834 OPS, 21 home runs, 75 RBI, 34 steals and 111 runs scored in 160 games in his fourth year in the big leagues. He led the league in plate appearances (735), at-bats (671), doubles (48) and triples (14) and should now be considered a top-10 fantasy outfielder heading into the 2025 regular season, even if he is due a little bit of regression. |

Sun Feb 23 | 10:26 | Jarren Duran Scratched From Sunday's Lineup |
Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran (calf) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Sunday's Grapefruit League contest. This is not believed to be a serious issue, but the Red Sox are holding out Duran due to calf soreness. It's not surprising to see the Red Sox taking the cautious approach this early into camp. The expectation is that he'll be back in the lineup after a few days. For now, Roman Anthony will take over in left field and bat leadoff during Sunday's game. |

Fri Feb 7 | 11:28 | Jarren Duran Expected To See More Time In Left Field |
The Athletic's Jen McCaffrey writes that Boston Red Sox outfielder Jarren Duran is expected to see more playing time in left field in 2025 with Ceddanne Rafaela in center field. Rafaela was forced to move to shortstop last year out of necessity when Trevor Story suffered a season-ending shoulder injury early in the season. With Story returning in 2025, Rafaela should spend more time in center field, which will push Duran to left. From a fantasy perspective, it won't change Duran's outlook much, although it could make him a little more attractive in leagues with specific left, center and right field starting lineup spots. Even if the 28-year-old takes a small step back in production in 2025, he'll be one of the better leadoff hitters in baseball. Duran continued to improve his strikeout and walk rates a year ago and also had a career-high barrel rate. He is RotoBaller's No. 10 fantasy outfielder. |
