Tue Jul 22 | 16:32 | Tyler Freeman Back From Illness on Tuesday |
Colorado Rockies outfielder Tyler Freeman (illness) is serving as the designated hitter and will bat leadoff for the Rockies for Tuesday's tilt at Coors Field against the visiting St. Louis Cardinals and right-hander Erick Fedde. Freeman will return to the field after missing the last two games while being under the weather. Despite only having one home run in 170 at-bats in his first year in Colorado, the 26-year-old will have some DFS sleeper appeal out of the leadoff spot at hitter-friendly Coors Field against a very hittable pitcher. Freeman is getting it done in 56 games for the last-place Rockies this year, slashing .324/.401/.435 with a career-best .836 OPS, 15 RBI, 25 runs and 12 stolen bases in 197 plate appearances. The former second-rounder of the Cleveland Guardians has gone 19-for-56 (.339) with seven doubles, four RBI and three steals in 13 games in July. |

Mon Jul 7 | 15:28 | Tyler Freeman Back in Action for the Rockies, Batting Leadoff Monday |
Colorado Rockies shortstop/outfielder Tyler Freeman (hamstring) returns to the lineup Monday against the Red Sox, starting in right field and batting leadoff. Freeman sat out Sunday's series finale against the White Sox to rest a minor hamstring issue but is back in action and fully healthy. Freeman has been on fire over the past 30 days, batting .370 and providing steady production across multiple categories. With eligibility at both shortstop and outfield, he's a versatile and underrated fantasy asset. Rostered in just 15% of Yahoo leagues, Freeman offers batting average, runs, and steals. He's an under-the-radar pickup for managers needing a spark can look to add him in 12-plus team leagues. |

Sun Jul 6 | 13:37 | Tyler Freeman Out of Sunday's Lineup with Sore Hamstring |
Colorado Rockies outfielder Tyler Freeman (hamstring) is not in Sunday's lineup when the Rockies conclude a series against the White Sox. According to Thomas Harding of MLB.com, the outfielder is dealing with a sore right hamstring. Harding noted that this minor injury has not affected his play. Fantasy managers should continue to monitor his status in case this injury begins to linger. Freeman has been one of the most productive hitters over the past month. In his last 19 games, Freeman has held .379/.474/.470 slash line with six doubles, nine runs, and seven stolen bases. This afternoon, the Rockies will give prospect Yanquiel Fernandez the starting nod in right field and will bat in the eighth hole. The Rockies are a viable stack in DFS facing right-hander Shane Smith. |

Thu May 8 | 14:26 | Tyler Freeman To Begin Rehab Assignment Over The Weekend |
Colorado Rockies infielder/outfielder Tyler Freeman (oblique) is set to begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Albuquerque this weekend. Freeman has been on the 10-day injured list with a left oblique strain since mid-April. However, it appears the 25-year-old is nearing a return to action. Freeman appeared in just seven games before suffering the injury. During this brief stint, Freeman held a .091/.313/.091 line with just one hit and a 3:2 K:BB. He swiped one bag. Under the hood, he generated a modest .169 xBA with a .292 xwOBA, which are both well below the average marks. Last season in Cleveland, Freeman held a .209/.305/.321 line with seven home runs and swiped 11 bags. He should have close to an everyday role despite his limited offensive upside, given his defensive versatility. |

Sat Apr 12 | 18:41 | Tyler Freeman Scratched From Saturday's Lineup |
Colorado Rockies outfielder Tyler Freeman (oblique) has been scratched from the starting lineup ahead of Saturday's game against the San Diego Padres. Freeman was slated to start in center field with Brenton Doyle (quad) missing his second straight game. Now, both outfielders are sidelined for this game, which will push Mickey Moniak out there on Saturday. Moniak will cover center field and bat seventh against left-hander Kyle Hart. The Rockies might be forced to make a roster move if Freeman and Doyle aren't able to return soon. |

Sat Mar 22 | 20:07 | Tyler Freeman Heading To Colorado |
Cleveland Guardians infielder Tyler Freeman has been traded to the Colorado Rockies on Saturday. The Guardians have decided to move on from Freeman after a few lackluster seasons with the organization. In exchange for Freeman, the Guardians will receive outfielder Nolan Jones. Both players are coming off down years in 2024, but the difference is that Jones put up strong numbers in 2023. Freeman is a former top prospect, but he hasn't been able to put it all together at the big league level. Possibly, Freeman will improve with a change of scenery and probably a chance to play everyday, but fantasy managers don't need to take the risk right away. |

Mon Oct 7 2024 | 14:24 | Tyler Freeman Removed From ALDS Roster With Injury |
The Cleveland Guardians removed infielder Tyler Freeman (oblique) from the American League Division Series roster on Monday due to a strained left oblique and added utility man Angel Martinez to the roster to replace him. Freeman injured his oblique during a simulated game recently and now will be ineligible to play in the ALCS if the Guardians advance past the division-rival Detroit Tigers in the ALDS. The 25-year-old utility man was in his third year with Cleveland in 2024 and finished the regular season hitting just .209 (69-for-330) with a career-high seven home runs, 32 RBI, 11 steals and 48 runs scored in a career-high 118 games played. Martinez, 22, will serve in a bench role for the Guardians for the rest of the ALDS. The switch-hitter batted .232/.298/.338 with three homers and three stolen bases in 43 games in 2024. |

Sat May 18 2024 | 23:58 | Tyler Freeman Raps Out Four Hits In Win Over Twins |
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Tyler Freeman had four hits during Saturday's 11-4 win over the Minnesota Twins. The leadoff hitter scored three times, drove in three runs, and added his sixth stolen base this season. Freeman recorded only his fourth multi-hit game, and while Saturday was remarkable, remember that Freeman is hitting .221 with four homers and 16 RBI while sporting a paltry .693 OPS. Freeman's excellent performance is a one-off that should be taken as such and is mainly a fantasy option in deep-league formats. |

Wed Aug 2 2023 | 08:48 | Tyler Freeman Exits Early Tuesday |
Cleveland Guardians infielder Tyler Freeman (shoulder) left Tuesday's contest against the Houston Astros prematurely after experiencing left shoulder soreness, according to MLB.com. Before his removal, he was 0-for-2 with a punchout in the eventual 2-0 loss. The club will monitor how Freeman's feeling over the next few days, so fantasy managers should consider him day-to-day. The 24-year-old is slashing .286/.344/.357 with no home runs, 13 runs, six RBI, and three steals across 38 games this year. Those numbers aren't too exciting, and he doesn't get everyday at-bats, leaving Freeman almost irrelevant in all formats. |

Mon Apr 17 2023 | 22:10 | Tyler Freeman Staying Hot In Triple-A |
Cleveland Guardians infield prospect Tyler Freeman is a 23-year-old second baseman who made his MLB debut last season but opened 2023 in the minors. He has looked great with Triple-A Columbus, showing a clear tendency to put the ball in play and drive in runs. His walk and strikeout rates have been solid, and he's also stealing bases at a higher clip than usual. Traditionally, Freeman has been regarded as a very advanced hitter with impressive bat speed, great balance in the box, and top-tier plate discipline. He may lack power, but he can still hit line drives to the gap, moving himself and other runners around the bases. Defensively, Freeman is a polished fielder with smooth footwork and a strong glove, but his average range and arm will likely keep him bound to second base long-term. Freeman is coming off a strong week in the minors during which he made a case for a potential promotion. All in all, he went 12-for-22 with one homer, seven RBI, two walks, one strikeout, and three stolen bases. This hot run included an impressive two-day stretch in which he hit 9-for-10 with five extra-base hits. Perhaps we could be seeing the second baseman back in the majors sooner rather than later. |
