Wed Sep 24 | 15:38 | Johnathan Rodriguez Recalled from Triple-A Columbus | Johnathan RodrÃguez | RF | Guardians | Free Agent |
Cleveland Guardians outfielder Johnathan Rodriguez was recalled from Triple-A Columbus on Wednesday to replace the injured David Fry (face). Rodriguez spent time with Cleveland earlier this season and part of last year, but owns just a .155/.255/.258 slash line with one home run and a 32.7 percent strikeout rate in 41 major league games played (110 plate appearances). The former third-round draft pick had a great year at Triple-A, slashing .312/.397/.515 with 16 home runs, and rode a 14-game hit streak from September 4-19 (.408, six home runs). If he can keep the momentum going, he could see success this time around, but he's not expected to get regular at-bats over the final week of the season. |

Wed Sep 24 | 14:23 | David Fry Suffers Broken Nose, Facial Fractures | David Fry | DH | Guardians | Free Agent |
Cleveland Guardians designated hitter David Fry (face) suffered a broken nose and facial fractures on Tuesday against the Detroit Tigers when he was hit in the face by a pitch from left-hander Tarik Skubal, according to Tom Withers of The Associated Press. "He is doing OK, he's in good spirits. He's upright, he's alert," manager Stephen Vogt said. It was a scary situation at Progressive Field on Tuesday night, but the good news is Fry never lost consciousness and should be fine. However, the 29-year-old is going to miss some time and probably won't be available to close out the regular season, which ends on Sunday. If the Guardians make the playoffs, Fry could be fighting an uphill battle to be included on the postseason roster. Fry got a late start to the 2025 season after recovering from UCL surgery on his right arm, and he's currently hitting just .171 (25-for-146) with eight home runs, 23 RBI, and 16 runs in 66 games. |

Tue Sep 23 | 12:52 | Dustin May to Throw Live Batting Practice on Tuesday | Dustin May | RP/SP | Red Sox | Free Agent |
Boston Red Sox right-hander Dustin May (elbow) is scheduled to throw live batting practice in Fort Myers, Fla., on Tuesday. May, who has been on the 15-day injured list with elbow neuritis since Sept. 6, is running out of time to return during the regular season. Between the injury and his subpar performance, the 28-year-old has endured a rough several weeks since the Red Sox acquired him from the Los Angeles Dodgers at the July 31 trade deadline. In six appearances (five starts) with Boston, May has gone 1-4 with a 5.40 ERA, a 1.69 WHIP, and 26:13 K:BB in 28 1/3 innings. |

Sat Sep 20 | 23:01 | Brendan Rodgers Done for Season | Brendan Rodgers | 2B | Astros | Free Agent |
Houston Astros second baseman Brendan Rodgers (back, head) will miss the rest of the season with lumbar spine inflammation. Rodgers made what proved to be his final appearance of the season with the Astros on June 14, when he strained his left oblique and had to go on the 10-day injured list. A little over a month later, Rodgers suffered a concussion and a nasal fracture in his first Triple-A rehab game. Rodgers embarked on another rehab assignment in August, but the Astros had to shut him down a few weeks ago on account of his back issue. Between the nonstop injuries and his poor production when he was healthy, it was a brutal season for Rodgers. After opening 2025 as the Astros' starting baseman, the 29-year-old went on to play 43 games and hit .191/.266/.278 with two home runs and 11 RBI in 128 plate appearances. |

Sat Sep 20 | 22:59 | Mitch Spence to Start on Sunday | Mitch Spence | RP/SP | Athletics | Free Agent |
Athletics right-hander Mitch Spence will start on Sunday against the Pittsburgh Pirates, according to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com. Lefty Jeffrey Springs had been scheduled to toe the rubber, but Spence will get the ball after throwing 3 2/3 scoreless innings out of the bullpen and earning a win over the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday. Across 30 appearances and seven starts this season, Spence has gone 3-5 with a 4.48 ERA, a 1.33 WHIP, and 64:24 K:BB in 78 1/3 innings. On paper, the 27-year-old has a favorable matchup against a Pittsburgh offense that ranks last in the majors in both runs and OPS. |

Sat Sep 20 | 18:29 | Robert Stephenson Done for the Season | Robert Stephenson | RP | Angels | Free Agent |
Los Angeles Angels relief pitcher Robert Stephenson (elbow) was placed on the 15-day injured list on Saturday. Stephenson has already been sidelined with multiple injuries this season, but this one will end his 2025 campaign. He'll finish the season with a 2.70 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and a 10/3 K/BB ratio across 12 appearances. The right-hander was brought in to be a high-leverage option, but sadly Stephenson wasn't able to stay healthy. In a corresponding move, Sam Bachman has been recalled to take over the spot in the bullpen. |

Sat Sep 20 | 16:50 | Sean Newcomb Placed on 15-Day Injured List | Sean Newcomb | RP/SP | Athletics | Free Agent |
The Athletics announced that they have placed left-hander Sean Newcomb (elbow) on the 15-day injured list with elbow inflammation and recalled righty Scott McGough from Triple-A Las Vegas. Newcomb's season will end early, but he was an excellent buy-low pickup for the Athletics after they acquired him from the Boston Red Sox for cash considerations in late May. After opening the season as a starter for the Red Sox, Newcomb worked exclusively from the A's bullpen and put up a 1.75 ERA, a 1.03 WHIP, and 50:14 K:BB in 51 1/3 innings. Between the two teams, the 32-year-old combined for 92 1/3 frames and recorded a 2.73 ERA with a 1.35 WHIP, 91 strikeouts, and 31 walks. |

Fri Sep 19 | 23:53 | Zack Gelof Dislocates Shoulder, Done for Season | Zack Gelof | 2B | Athletics | Free Agent |
Athletics second baseman Zack Gelof (shoulder) dislocated his left shoulder in a 4-3 win over the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday and will miss the rest of the season, according to Martin Gallegos of MLB.com. Gelof suffered the injury on a diving play in the bottom of the fifth inning and exited the game immediately. This will go down as an injury-wrecked season for Gelof, who missed the first three months of the year as a result of a fractured hamate bone in his hand and a stress reaction in his rib cage. After making his 2025 debut on July 4, the 25-year-old slumped to a .174/.230/.272 line with two homers, seven RBI, 12 runs scored, and a stolen base over 30 games and 101 plate appearances. Darell Hernaiz took over at second in Gelof's place on Friday and could get most of the playing time at the keystone for the rest of the season. |

Fri Sep 19 | 21:11 | Zack Gelof Exits Early on Friday | Zack Gelof | 2B | Athletics | Free Agent |
Athletics infielder Zack Gelof (shoulder) was forced to make an early exit from Friday's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates. Gelof suffered a left shoulder injury while making a diving play during the fifth inning. The A's decided to take the cautious approach and immediately remove him from the contest. He figures to undergo additional imaging to determine the severity of the injury. Darell Hernaiz took over at second base and could see increased playing time over there if Gelof misses time. Before exiting, Gelof went 0-for-1 at the plate with a walk and a run scored. Fantasy managers should check back on Saturday for another update on his status. |

Fri Sep 19 | 18:43 | Jace Jung Back With the Tigers | Jace Jung | 3B | Tigers | Free Agent |
The Detroit Tigers called up infielder Jace Jung from Triple-A Toledo on Friday after placing infielder Colt Keith (rib cage) on the 10-day injured list with right rib-cage inflammation. Jung will rejoin the big-league roster to close out the regular season as infield depth with Keith on the shelf. While the 24-year-old could see some action at the hot corner to close out the month, Zach McKinstry and Andy Ibanez will be Detroit's top options to replace Keith until the postseason. In just 18 games for the Tigers this year, Jung went 5-for-45 (.111) with no homers, three RBI, seven walks, and 15 strikeouts in 53 trips to the plate. He was better in his rookie season last year, slashing .241/.362/.304 with no homers, three RBI, and a 29:15 K:BB in 34 games. The former first-rounder hit .252/.370/.447 with 17 homers and 74 RBI in 110 games at Toledo this year. |

Fri Sep 19 | 16:12 | Matt Wallner Goes on Injured List With Oblique Strain | Matt Wallner | DH/RF | Twins | Free Agent |
The Minnesota Twins announced on Friday that they placed outfielder Matt Wallner (oblique) on the 10-day injured list with a right-oblique strain and recalled outfielder DaShawn Keirsey Jr. from Triple-A St. Paul in a corresponding move. With the Twins out of postseason contention, that will be it for Wallner for the rest of the 2025 season. The 27-year-old former first-rounder played in a career-high 104 games this year in his fourth year in the big leagues and had a disappointing .202 average (68-for-336) in 392 trips to the plate. However, the left-handed hitter did club 22 home runs and added 40 RBI, 47 runs scored, and four stolen bases. With Wallner out for the last week-plus of the season, James Outman figures to see more playing time in Minnesota's outfield. Outman is in right field and is batting ninth on Friday against the Cleveland Guardians and left-hander Parker Messick. |

Thu Sep 18 | 14:29 | Jordan Hicks Playing Catch, Still May Not Return This Year | Jordan Hicks | RP/SP | Red Sox | Free Agent |
Boston Red Sox right-hander Jordan Hicks (shoulder) has resumed playing catch, although manager Alex Cora acknowledged that he may have already run out of time to have a chance to return this year, according to Christopher Smith of Mass Live. Hicks is trying to work his way back from tendinitis in his right shoulder. The 29-year-old began the year with the San Francisco Giants in a starting role but was eventually moved to the bullpen after struggling. He has been worse since joining Boston in a trade, going 1-2 with an 8.20 ERA (6.20 FIP), two saves, 15 strikeouts, and 12 walks in 18 2/3 innings pitched. Even if Hicks were to make it back this year, the Red Sox would think twice before including him in their bullpen on a playoff roster in October. |

Thu Sep 18 | 14:20 | Dustin May Throws Bullpen on Wednesday | Dustin May | RP/SP | Red Sox | Free Agent |
Boston Red Sox right-hander Dustin May (elbow) was able to throw a bullpen session on Wednesday, according to Christopher Smith of Mass Live. May is "trending in the right direction," according to manager Alex Cora, but the skipper also acknowledged that the 28-year-old might be running out of time to make it back to help the team this year, including in the postseason if the team qualifies. May landed on the 15-day injured list last week with neuritis in his right elbow, making it unlikely that we'll see him again in 2025. If he were to return in October, he would almost certainly be used in a relief role out of the bullpen. Since coming over to Boston in a trade with the Los Angeles Dodgers in July, May has not been effective, sporting a 5.40 ERA and 1.69 WHIP with 26 strikeouts and 13 walks in 28 1/3 innings over six outings (five starts). |

Thu Sep 18 | 14:17 | John Rave Recalled from Triple-A Omaha | John Rave | CF/LF/RF | Royals | Free Agent |
Kansas City Royals outfielder John Rave was recalled from Triple-A Omaha on Thursday after Kyle Isbel (hamstring) was placed on the 10-day injured list. The 27-year-old debuted with the team in late May, logging 156 plate appearances before being sent down in late August. During his time in the majors, the left-handed slugger hit just .199, but was able to walk at a 10.3 percent rate, hit four home runs, and steal seven bases in his limited action. Even so, the former fifth-round draft pick is not a viable fantasy option as he'll likely just get sporadic starts down the stretch, so he's best left on the waiver wire. |

Thu Sep 18 | 12:40 | Paul Sewald Activated From 60-Day Injured List | Paul Sewald | RP | Tigers | Free Agent |
The Detroit Tigers have activated right-handed reliever Paul Sewald (shoulder) from the 60-day injured list and optioned righty Jose Urquidy to Triple-A Toledo. Sewald is ready to return after missing upward of two months with a shoulder strain. He spent the first few months of the season with the division-rival Cleveland Guardians, who traded him to the Tigers at the July 31 deadline. The 35-year-old is now set for his Detroit debut after recording a 4.70 ERA with a 1.17 WHIP, 18:4 K:BB, four holds, and two saves in 15 1/3 innings with Cleveland. Sewald hasn't pitched in the majors since July 11. |

Thu Sep 18 | 12:30 | Kyle Isbel Placed on 10-Day Injured List | Kyle Isbel | CF | Royals | Free Agent |
The Kansas City Royals announced that they have placed outfielder Kyle Isbel (hamstring) on the 10-day injured list with a strained left hamstring and recalled outfielder John Rave from Triple-A Omaha. After suffering the injury and leaving early in a 7-5 win over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday, Isbel's season will come to an end. The 28-year-old defensive wiz hit .255/.301/.353 with four homers, 33 RBI, 42 runs, and four stolen bases across 135 games and 409 plate appearances this season. Mike Yastrzemski will move from left field to center to take Isbel's place on Thursday against the Mariners, while Adam Frazier will play left. |

Thu Sep 18 | 09:52 | Chas McCormick Dealing with a Side Issue | Chas McCormick | CF/LF/RF | Astros | Free Agent |
Houston Astros outfielder Chas McCormick (side) has been unable to play in Triple-A for the last week due to a side issue, according to manager Joe Espada. McCormick has played 66 games in the majors this year and 11 games in the minors. He came off the injured list after an oblique injury in mid-July but was optioned to Triple-A in early September. He has played sparingly since losing his starting role to Jake Meyers in spring training. McCormick hit only .210 with one homer and two stolen bases in his limited action this year and seems to have faded from the team's plans in the last two seasons after a big year in 2023 when he hit .273 with 22 homers and 19 stolen bases. Even if he does recover in time, his role on the team is uncertain the rest of this season, leaving him well off the fantasy radar. |

Thu Sep 18 | 09:19 | Tyler Anderson Throwing, Questionable to Return This Season | Tyler Anderson | SP | Angels | Free Agent |
Los Angeles Angels starting pitcher Tyler Anderson (oblique) may not be able to return this season since he hasn't been able to make much progress since ramping up his throwing program. He originally injured his oblique while returning home from being on paternity leave. He pitched on August 29, but the next day, he was placed on the IL. The veteran lefty went just 2-8 in 26 games with a 4.56 ERA, 5.61 FIP, and 104 strikeouts in 136 1/3 innings. Anderson will be a free agent after the season and has proven he can be an innings-eating option towards the back of the rotation. He has spent the last three years with the Angels after starting his career with the Dodgers and Rockies. He can be safely dropped in all formats since there are other options that make more sense, especially with Anderson's return uncertain. |

Thu Sep 18 | 09:07 | Matt Wallner Dealing with Back Spasms | Matt Wallner | DH/RF | Twins | Free Agent |
Minnesota Twins outfielder Matt Wallner (back) left Wednesday night's game against the Yankees in the fifth inning after going 0-for-1 with a walk. Wallner is considered day-to-day, but since the Twins have a day off Thursday, he could return to action Friday without missing a start. The 27-year-old lefty is hitting only .202 on the season, but does have a new career-high 22 homers in his 104 games. He has a .262 ISO and .334 wOBA and is a solid source of lefty power in the Minnesota outfield despite his low average. He has been part of a crowded rotation in the outfield, so he could get fewer games over the last couple of series if his back continues to be an issue. |

Wed Sep 17 | 21:24 | Kyle Isbel Leaves Early With Hamstring Discomfort | Kyle Isbel | CF | Royals | Free Agent |
The Kansas City Royals announced that outfielder Kyle Isbel (hamstring) exited their game against the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday with left-hamstring discomfort. After Isbel grounded out in the bottom of the second inning, the Royals replaced him in center field with Tyler Tolbert. Isbel has been a defensive standout in center this season, but the 28-year-old hasn't offered much with the bat. Over 134 games and 408 plate appearances, Isbel has hit .256/.301/.354 with four homers, 33 RBI, 42 runs scored, and four stolen bases. |
