The Chicago White Sox announced on Tuesday that they selected the contract of right-hander
Yoendrys Gomez from Triple-A Charlotte, and he will make the start on Tuesday night against the division-rival Detroit Tigers. In a corresponding move, the team optioned right-hander
Elvis Peguero to Charlotte. Gomez debuted in the big leagues in 2023 with the New York Yankees and has made 18 relief appearances since then with the Yanks, Los Angeles Dodgers and White Sox, but this will be his first start. In 17 2/3 innings pitched this year with all three of the aforementioned clubs, the 25-year-old has allowed 14 runs (13 earned) on 20 hits (three homers) while walking 13 and striking out 13. He has worked as a starter for the last few months in the minors, so he's stretched out, but fantasy managers should be avoiding him everywhere against the first-place Tigers.
